Default The Big, the Bad, and the Sleeping

Heh. My first warstory (and, in fact, my second Shoddy battle [I won my first one as well, but my opponent left before I could ask if I could save the battle]). Anyway, this was a random opponent on the Smogon Shoddy server. I asked this person's permission before saving and posting this. My username is Gligarman on Smogon, and my opponent was tmdgus0529. Don't try to pronounce my opponent's name...I tried. I think it's for distraction purposes mid-battle. xD

My actions will be in blue, and tmdgus0529's actions will be in red. My comments (and they are numerous) will be in purple.

tmdgus0529 sent out Aerodactyl (lvl 100 Aerodactyl ?).
Gligarman sent out Richter (lvl 100 Gliscor ?).

    VS
    100% ---------- 100%

Well. I've seen that one before. Watch, he's going to murder me with Ice Fang.

    Aerodactyl is exerting its pressure!
    Aerodactyl used Taunt.
    Richter fell for the taunt!
    Richter used Stealth Rock.
Richter can't use Stealth Rock after the taunt!

    VS
    100% ---------- 100%

WHAAAAAT??! Man. Now Gliscor's lost his main purpose. I guess I can still use him to do some damage though.

    Aerodactyl used Stealth Rock.
Pointed stones float in the air around the foe's team!
    Richter used Ice Fang.
    It's super effective!
    A critical hit!
Aerodactyl lost 100% of its health.
Aerodactyl hung on using its Focus Sash!

    VS
    100% ---------- 1%

Wowzers. That did a lot more than I thought it would. Must be a pretty poor Aerodactyl defensively.

    Richter used Ice Fang.
    It's super effective!
Aerodactyl lost 0% of its health.
    tmdgus0529's Aerodactyl fainted.

    VS
    100% ---------- 0%

Wow. I dunno how Gliscor went first, but it was helpful. Now I've tipped the scales in my favor!

    ...Crud.

Squeamish lost 6% of its health.
    Starmie used Surf.
Squeamish lost 29% of its health.

    VS
    65% ---------- 100%

Yeesh. I saved Gliscor from death-by-tidal-wave, but now I've put Gastrodon in a predicament. Everything should be okay, though. I don't think that Starmie's got anything I should be worried about.

    Starmie used Surf.

    Squeamish used Earth Power.
    It doesn't affect Gliscor...

    tmdgus0529's Gliscor fainted.

    VS

    Squeamish used Recover.
Squeamish restored 50% of its health.

    VS
    89% ---------- 100%

Not sure what that was about. I'm thinking he either clicked the wrong Pokemon, or suddenly remembered Earth Power. Either way, I'd rather heal up than focus my attention on some random Jirachi that's not going to stay in anyway. Now to rid myself of Honchkrow...

    Honchkrow used Drill Peck.
Squeamish lost 49% of its health.
    Squeamish used Ice Beam.
    It's super effective!
Honchkrow lost 82% of its health.

    - Heracross getting frozen and tossed around like a rag-doll.
    - The annoying Jirachi who killed four of my Pokemon without breaking a sweat.
    - My rotten luck.

    My Highs:
    - tmdgus0529 was a great opponent and good sport.
    - Porygon-Z laying the smack-down on a grand total of two of my opponent's Pokemon.
    - Snorlax taking a nap in the middle of the battle and winning because of it.
    - My awesome (albeit rare) luck.

That Jirachi made me lol. Not with the flinching; Jirachi's already known to do that, but Ice Punch. The powers of Serene Grace is to be FEARED! XD

Both players made quite a few errors. I have no idea how gliscor outran aero though. For example, you didn't understand speed tiers e.g. infernape vs starmie and he for some reason used grass knot on lax.
Start playing ubers, not OU. Serebii needs more ubers players!

    Cut the guy some slack.

Personally, I thought it was a nice read and the OP shows some promise, if that was only his second battle.

Much better than I was on MY second battle =/

Yes, it was a nice read. Also I have a kind of feeling Aerodactyl user may have been running Whirlwind or summing and accidentaly misclicked on it? Who knows.

That I'll have to admit. My second battle was crap. I like your gastrodon. NUs work in OU and even ubers.

Hey, thanks for the feedback, guys. Yup. This was only my second Shoddy battle, and I've learned a lot since then. I've had a couple dozen total now...and I have learned that Starmie outruns Infernape pretty much every time. Ha. Won't make that mistake again.

Great job. Grass knot does more damage on heavy pokemon. Heres my battle. MOGARFU sent out his whole team. Enemy Mewtwo uses psychic. MOGARFU is out of usable pokemon. MOGARFU whited out!

Haha...I'm glad that this has gotten attention, but just to point out, this fight occurred four months ago, and I know my competitive much better than I did during this battle.

    Just sayin'.

FYI, Infernape has a very slight chance it will out speed Starmie, so don't do that. But not bad for your second Shoddy battle.
