Not something I am going to advertise but I suppose if anyone actually asked me I wouldn't lie.

I think im the oldest one posting in this thread...im 24 right now and im turning 25 towards the end of the year. I have played since red and blue, I don't foresee me stopping anytime soon. My two close friends played with me up until pearl and diamond, but they both stopped shortly after. I am all alone now.

Nah I'm not embarrassed anymore. That's probably because I'm in high school and even a lot of those popular-type kids play HeartGold and SoulSilver. I was honestly kinda surprised

I'm open about it. Used to be slightly embarrassed but eventually I got my friends to see my point of view. Heck, they love it when I try to recite an entire Generation's PokeDex and I stumble over a number. They're in the process of trying to memorize all 493 Pokemon as I speak, in a race against themselves. They don't play the games or watch the Anime or anything, but they like it just as much as I do. Not to mention over half my school, much more than I'd expect, anyway, are Pokemon fans. >__<

no way i'm scared to, but i never tell too many people since i'm quiet. i'm on the school track team, so me playing pokemon doesn't sound likely to others. no one thinks i'm a nerd or makes fun of me for it. to many of my classmates, i'm "too smart, respected, amazing(lol, i've heard many reasons)" to be made fun of for playing pokemon. tons of people i know play pokemon, so it makes me feel comfortable playing pokemon.

Ah, but were at an age point where it's more socially acceptable to play in an academic setting.

See, it's cool in elementary school, hated throughout middle and high school, and then it's cool again once you hit college.

If by some odd reason you decide to IM me, send a PM in advance so I know you aren't some crazy bot tricking me into unsafe porn :3

I guess, if im playing on campus nobody asks what I am playing, but if they did I guess I would say pokemon.

Embarrassed? No, not really. I don't tell anyone I know I play "Pokemon" and I do get embarrassed when buying a game, but that's not because I'm actually embarrassed. People are just douches and don't see it, like, "Pokemon" is a video game. Like, "Mario" or "Zelda" or "Metroid." It's a Nintendo franchise, one of their biggest. It's like, I played "Mario" growing up and forever will. I don't get strange looks when buying a "Mario" game, but with "Pokemon" it's different. It's pretty stupid, to be honest.

This would be the only situation where I'd feel embarrassed about it, and even then it's more of feeling nerdy than embarrassed.

Here.
I remember posting in that thread as well (a while ago).

Anyways, I am embarrassed about it and usually say I am receiving X poke’mon from an event because cousin Y wants it. I tend to carry a more “manly/adult” game with me and there's a few I like. The only thing that causes trouble for me is that I have to go to McDonald’s for the wifi events since I only have a land line.

I have been called 'immature' and 'baby-ish' by people, and one of my boy-friends broke up with me because of it. He said I was too 'childish', playing pokemon...meh. Up his. (He still lived with his mother, who told him everything to do. Man couldn't figure out how to wipe his a** without his mom telling him how...and he calls ME childish!)

So yeah, It's somewhat embarrasing being a 21 year old pre-medicine student who plays pokemon, but no more embarrassing than being a gamer in general. (I live in a rat-f*ck of a town, full of people that think EVERY videogame is 'for children'...and it's TINY, so yes, I DO know everyone here...It's like a rednecky, meth-filled Mayberry here...)

I never have problem playing pokemon, maybe b/c not many people know I play it or spend much money on the game, even my family.
If they knew, prolly I'd get preached.

19 years old, and I'm not embarrased at all. I don't really care what people think of me playing it. Hell, me and my friend got HG/SS on the release day and sat and played it in a nearby pub.

I would be, but then again I have much more to be embarassed for, so...

Anyways, why would you? If you enjoy it, then do it. At least your not drinking so much your throwing up in public or randomly murdering people.

I'm nearly 18 and a few years ago everyone used to never admit to liking Pokemon except for the geeks but now it's like it's like it's cool to put a pokemon as your default pic on facebook for pokemon profile pic week and everyone who played it as kids now admit how awesome it is... anyways no I've never really been embarassed of it, and at 12 years old all you should be doing is playing pokemon and other kiddy games, definitely not smoking or having sex to look grown up and hardcore like the other kids do...

I think it's not embarrassing to play Pokemon at all, because "everyone can like things they want to" and it's normal, isn't it! That's why I think it's not embarrassing.
So I'm not embarrassed to play Pokemon and that's final...XD

how i started playing pokemon was(ten years ago)that one day when i was 5 i was walking down the street where i used to live(i moved to the mountains 4 years ago)i saw this card on the ground and saw this strange picture that look like a red salamander(latter i found out that this card was charmander)i thought how cool this was and i wanted to show all my friends. when i showed all my friends at school (i was in kindergarden at the time)they all said that card was weard but i like the card but i look on the back and it said "pokemon" so i was like hmmm...cool. Latter on in the years i started to collect the pokemon cards and these "pokemon" look like animals in a way and i really liked animals, that how i started to like pokemon. So to answer the question, at first i was a little embarrassed but i really liked how these things look like and i still do today.

Sorry about the long post but i just wanted you let know how i started to like pokemon

thank to Light Venusaur and Xons for this ok sig(grovyle is my #2 fav not Sceptile...WHAT Omega-Xis look like Sceptile wow i never knew that!!!) curcent Fav Pokemon of All Time #1: Charizard #2: Grovyle #3: Pidgeot #4: Absol #5: Lapras #6: Zoroark

In 5 words?

NO NO NO NO NO.
I tell everyone i make friends with about Pokemon. I even went as Pikachu for Halloween! If anyone were to tell me Pokemon is lame, here is how it would go:

"So, that means you never played it?"
"No."
(Shoots them the "you just sank your own debate ship" look and walks away)

But so far, the only time people have criticized Pokemon is saying they don't understand it. Admittedly it is a little complicated, but its easy once you learn about it.

14 years old, and unfortunately I am embarrassed that I play Pokémon.
I really love it, but I barely know someone who loves it too...

I'm not embarassed about it at all, I'd just like to avoid letting people know about it who will clearly give me stick for it. Which seems to be the norm.

...hence my reaction of slamming my head on the desk when my friend said in a very loud voice "Oh I saw your Pokemon videos, they're so funny!".

A touch.

I'm twenty-seven, and now and then I feel a bit sheepish about it, but it doesn't keep me from wearing my Poke Ball earrings or wearing my Poke Walker. Today a stranger randomly walked up to me and asked about my necklace, which happened to be a PixelBlocks Mawile sprite, and I was a bit embarrassed to explain that it was a Pokemon.
