Wow, that fanfiction really touched me, Poke_Maniac - I'll have to step up my game! :P But in all seriousness, I thoroughly enjoyed it and I left a rather pleasant review for you on the site, so there you have it: my approval. :P Not that that matters or anything but... just keep writing! xD I'm working on a star gazing fanfiction, though, much like Rat2rrj, I'm being bogged down with exams and probably won't be updating anything until at least next week - and then there's my Business test to revise for so... I'm honestly not sure when I'm gonna be up and running again with smooth updates of Wishfulshipping. Hope that doesn't cause a problem with the flow of my collection though... :/

Oh, as long as you explain the concept to me, I'm pretty sure I can write it out for you in a way in which you'll not only enjoy, but remember! sometimes I am overly passionate about writing, eh? xD I'm hoping that once you explain it to me, I'll be able to write it out as you picture it; either way, I'll try my absolute best! ^-^

I wants those plushies! x3 What's more is that she's in the Wishfulshipping group on Deviantart, and she makes a small profit for them as she usually pits them up for comissions, or in turn for art trades or whatever. It's actually quite a fun business; I hope at one point I'll be able to write for someone for an art trade, though it's finding a partaker, not so much lack of inspiration or anyting else. xD I suppose I'll just have to try my luck asking people around the web (Wishfulshippers, obviously!) and hope that one replies positively, unless any of you guys would be interested - once the exams are over with and people aren't so busy of course. Speaking of which, when is Wishfulshipping day exactly? I'm planning a fanfiction for it. And we'll have to have another Secret Santa - that was TONNES of fun last year! ^0^

1: If there was a food to represent Wishfulshipping, what would it be and why?

Well as I mulled about this topic I went through and cancelled some of my earlier ideas:

1. Pizza- In often cases, Pizza is the ‘gawd-sent food” like almost EVERY kid in the universe likes pizza. Then…I realized its faults. Apparently, here in the United States of America it was proclaimed to be a “vegetable”….lol wut? I’M SORRY BUT I CANNOT PICTURE PIZZA GROWING ON PLANTS ANYWHERE :P and besides, that’s Pearlship’s food. XP

2. Escargot- At first I thought this was perfect. I mean I’ve never eaten escargot before but it just made sense in my head…escargot is a French delicacy and you can find those little adorable snails roaming around in forests all the time. Plus I heard that wine goes good with escargot, so I figured that would be Sommeliershipping’s food.

At the end of it all…only one food came into my mind:

Now to understand the “Wishfulness of the Musa acuminata (aka banana)" let us first take a peek at the similarities.

All three are derived from Flowers/Fruit-bearing plants

Dent’s name is derived from “Dent Corn” (which is another name for “field corn” I believe) while Iris’s name is derived from well I dunno? an iris flower. All three of these plants (dent corn, iris and a banana) are all Monocotyledons (monocots for short). What are these “monocots” you may ask? Just something you need to know in Biology Monocots are members of a clade consisting of flowering plants that have one embryonic seed leaf, or cotyledon. (If you ever had a pistachio, the seed leaves are those hard things you pull apart. So like when you eat Corn (the plant lololol) you’ll notice how they have one outer covering. A coconut husk is also a good example. :P

Bananas Grow on Trees

Somewhat obvious observation, no? :P Well let’s see. Iris and her untamed wildness grew up in the trees, interacting with Pokemon…such as Patrat, Deerling, Panpour, and Pansear. Interestingly, Dento himself, be it at a more scientifically nature, has his own enjoyment with plants. He is a grass-type specialist after all. (According to Don George, he also smells of grass. Obviously Iris gets a nostalgic feeling when around Dento, and it explains why it is her first instinct when she’s afraid to snuggle up close with him.) Anyway, in the media, monkeys have always been shown munching on bananas…I mean…I think everyone knows this. XD Iris in the past has been shown playing with Panpour and Pansear. Dento has the “missing link” of it all…Pansage.

The Sentimentally of it all

Throughout the ages of time, this fruit has been used for comedy stories over and over again (be it someone slipping one or someone getting a banana pie in the face). Much like the banana Wishfulshipping is also used for comedy. Have you ever gotten a banana where you just can’t rip off its peel? IT’S A PAIN! Much like what Iris thinks about Dento. So if Dento is the outer layer of a banana, Iris must be the inside. While she hates Dento’s obnoxiousness, she also thanks him for being there. Her protector, her knight in shining armor...he is HER SWEET LITTLE BANANA PEEL. A banana is indeed an unusual shaped fruit, while Wishfulshipping is an unusual ship, however, once you take a bite (and are not allergic ) it is hard to put back down. It has an absolutely sweet and touching flavor when given the chance.

The Madness?

Iris likes her food raw. So what does Dento do? HE DOES WHAT HE CAN DO AND MAKES HER FREAKING BANANA BREAD!!!!

She has that look of “wonder” on her face…his food in her mouth is obviously…such a heavenly feeling ;-;

A clarification: bananas are man-made, essentially, and cannot grow without human aid. Unless this is what you were hinting at, the smaller, origin fruit of the banana is the south American plantain, which apparently is somewhat starchy and makes a great side dish or main course.

Hmmm,interesting question.As much as I wonder about food in general,the only thing that comes to my mind is fruits specially.
Grapefruit is one that should describe the two well.While it is bitter at the most,just like the bitter tastes of Dento's analysis,it can be sweet from another person point of view.The good things about bitter fruits is that you get used to eating it with time,and eventually it will become a fruit like any other "sweet at its base" fruit.

I don't know why, but I can't help but think of apples.
Since it's pretty obvious since Best Wishes that apples've become the main food for the group when Cilan's not cooking, I think it easily relates to Wishfulshipping. Plus, seeing that apples can apply to both Iris' natural instinct and Cilan's sophisticated ideals, why not?
By the way, is it me or are all the foods here fruits? XD

As for the other one, I'll come up with an answer as soon as I think of one.

If there was a food to represent Wishfulshipping, what would it be and why?

Hmmm... I've only just realised the bog I've put myself in by promising I'd answer these topics. I just got trolled by my own sense of creativity...>.< Or Troll was somewhere around when I wrote this...?. Anyways, I would probably have to say...hmm... maybe a chestnut. And here's my reasoning, before you all tell me my idea is totally ridiculous - which it probably is, but that's not the point. xP My reasons are here:

1: Wishfulshipping was a bit of a rocky start for me - I didn't know what side of the fence I was on - I mean, did I support it or didn't I? The main reason for this doubt was because of the lack of hints, I'll be honest. But, it was only when the series rewound on itself (it does that in England as the episodes are slow to come out) and I watched it through all the way to about episode sixteen again, waiting for the new ones to come out, I realised the undertone of the few hints we had received already. The things I had taken for granted for the shipping and had missed. The calm smiles, the meaningful eye contact between them, and most of all, the comical effect that the two protray, particularly when Ash isn't the main focus - like when they were debating about Science and spririts in the museum. So that outer shell describes the shadow of doubt I had personally, before I took into perspective the things I had once taken for granted, representing the inside of the chestnut.

2: The way that Iris constantly puts him down when he goes into his hyper time makes me a little hyper myself really. After all, I can tell she's mellow on the inside when she's refering to her Connoisseur, otherwise she wouldn't (I get that this is only my opinion though, I guess) be so ready to jump the gun and make a comment in the first place. For me, that also represents the inside of the chestnut - when warm and edible it's really quite pleasant. Well, that's how Wishfulshipping makes me feel on a daily basis, from anime hints, to fanfiction, to fanart, it's all in the mix and makes up for a pleasant feeling all together.

3: The fact that Cilan (and it was only later that I could really apply this) is willing to protect her. I mean, if he had a problem with her hiding behind him whenever an ice type was within a hundred metre radius, surely he would've said something. Most people say "no he wouldn't, because he's a gentleman". Yeah, he is, but I personally don't believe that he's a push-over. If he really had a problem with anything - remember how ready he was to talk about how much he hated Purrloin? Hmm, hinting at open-ness here! - Iris did, he'd probably tell her, just politely and with sensitivity, like a gentleman.

4: These moments between them, as well as countless quality fanfictions/fanarts never fail to make me smile. And that's what shipping is about: supporting the thing that's right for you, because you enjoy it. personally, I link this to feeling an urge to throw chestnuts at people I don't like's heads for the sheer pleasure of it! xD But the chestnut aspect of it is that, it's prickly on the outside, so you wouldn't really consider it to be "enjoyable" or even "savoury". And then it surprises you in the end, turning out to stick with you. That's Wishfulshipping to a "T", in my opinion.

Plus, it gives me and Chili something to troll between us when Cress is taking a day off...xP

So yeah, that's my rather... lame reasoning right there. I suppose it's more personal than an actual viewpoint, but I decided to type it as the thread has to keep moving and I, in no shape or form, want this thread to stop moving. As you can probably tell by my eagerness and my long messages... xD

@Poke_Maniac - Meh, I'll let you off the hook in terms of crackiness. After all, it did manage to drive me a little "bananas"... ah, bad puns make the world go around, me thinks!

For some reason, I can't get past the idea of Pansage and Emolga smirking. A lot. Maybe with Stunfisk playing along. Axew will probably be busy trying to shake Crustle and Excadrill out of their trances to get someone to explain to them. At any rate, this belongs to nothing but the fanfiction page.

XDDD Of course though, they'll be eating those words when Ash finds them...locked in an embrace, or sharing a strawberry together..or for WHATEVER reason that we may or may not want to know why they wanted to have "alone time" I'm pretty sure given Ash's denseness they could probably kiss on screen and he have no idea what they are doing. anyway he'd find them with his newly caught Giratina. :P

Anything over the top (which of course would have to be parodied with Dento's real life brothers). I can imagine Pansage being much less pushy about things and just sort of smile or smirk...maybe give Iris a hug or something. XD Kibago, I agree, would be pestering Crustle and Excadrill about relationships and all that jazz. Stunfisk would just lie there with a "knew it all along smirk" (whether he did or not is questionable as that is also his troll smirk).

Hey I will fine you in 1 million pokédolars for stealing my idea of Satoshi capturing Giratina!!!!! XDDDDDD(I think I sent a pm to dentogirl about that ;P)
Gonna add a few things to my idea:

Those images are humourous! I like the fact that Iris was the jury - respectively, the one's who reach a conclusion; in a respect, Iris and Cilan are working together as the judge decides the final verdict, though his/her opinion can be altered or shifted by the jury if their opinion is strong enough! Hahaha, of course, this is just in my canon mindset, so don't mind me if I'm actually wrong. Cilan's gonna ask for a verdict all right.

Cilan: Jury?
Iris: Guilty. To use a machine so dangerous can really damage the Pokemon's habitat.

I know Cilan's not that mean, but it would be quite funny if he asked for her opinion and then just brushed it aside with the intention of seeing her annoyed he likey... xP Hahaha, my bad cracky crap here right here, right now! :P Working on It's Memory Time I seem to be saying this alot, don't I? Blame my lack of updates on exams...^^; and Poke_Maniac - I've almost finished your idea for the star gazing thing, but I had another freak brainstorm and decided to work on another one, so that one may be going up before yours, I'm sorry to say. Other than dragon and grass, which type to you think suits these two and why?

Other than Dragon and Grass [types], which type do you think suits Cilan and Iris and why?

I personally think that electric suits Iris - she's wild, a bit uncontrollable - not reckless (at least not without reason or good intentions) - and really bubbly in terms of persona. Plus, she's rather cute the character and cuteness immediately makes me think to a Pikachu, which is an ADORABLE electric type! x3 Die hard Pikachu fan right here! :P

For Cilan, I can't help but think of ground - he's level headed, he sees reason in everything and anything and always looks for logic - if he was the opposite of this, I'd say flying as that would - in my opinion - express a free spirit (something that Iris also has... xD). Though it would be kind of ironic to see his as a ghost type as he's a non believer himself. :P

Good topic idea, Rat2rrj! ^-^ I've been thinking over it and have come up with some other topics in case people get bored and feel the need to type something in to add to the Wishfulshippiness.

If the Pokemon gang went to school for a Summer camp type thing, how would Cilan and Iris get together by the end of it?
If in the seventh Gym, Iris hides behind Cilan, do you think she would watch the whole match from behind him, or just a small part of it? Why?
If Cilan and Iris ran a business together, what would they seel, how would they seel it and why?

WOAH! You've got an interesting point there Jess. I never even thought of it like that. Plus that whole scene happened in Dento's mind. having fantasies Dento? I think they all started arguing and he didn't know what the verdict was nice going Dento. Even in your own mind

I agree with Jess on Electric for Iris. She also reminds me of Zekrom a bit. Dento wy you so hard with your hair? XDD I could maybe see fire for my Reshiram theory...that I've said for the umpteenth time...sorry if y'all are sick of it :<. He is related to Pod, and Dento is also pretty passionate about things...and, well plants need light to survive and fire's pretty close to light (though so is electric o.o). Or just the same he could be a ground type...but that might be a little bit too humble for Dent. XD I think I'm going to stick with Electric and Fire for mine...just because of Dento in later episodes getting fire in his eyes and volcanoes erupting. :P

That depends, because so far by the looks of things...Iris might not even set foot in the Gym. o.o; She might though, and if she does I suspect that she would cling to Dento, especially since they'll be right near each other. I imagine if she does decide to go into the gym it'll be most of it. It's cold. I think even if she gets over her fear of Ice-types I think she'll always feel uncomfortable in the cold.

If Cilan and Iris ran a business together, what would they sell, how would they sell it and why?

a) They would sell mouthwash
b) They would sell it door-to-door
c) They would sell it because it has Dento's name on it and contains 5% Dento spit.

Anyways, I was just thinking logically about the whole Judge/Jury thing. xD Though I'm glad you think it's interesting; I've been dying for someone to post just so I can talk to somebody... xD It was actually a HUGE relief when I got a new topic from Rat2rrj... ^^;

Speaking of Zekrom and Reshiram - that's an interesting theory for the whole pairing/opposites attract aspect of the Wishfulshippiness, Poke_Maniac. I suppose, just like those legends, they are the respectiive counter parts of themselves, weighing out and balancing each other with ease as they make up for anything that the other can't deal with, like Cilan said about him and his brothers. He clearly said that they make up for the things that the others can't deal with it makes me wonder what Cilan CAN'T deal with... excluding Purrlion! and that's why it makes me think of Iris/Cilan doing the same thing, like Cilan making up for Iris' reckless behaviour - though she normally does reckless things out of good intentions/nature - while she measures up to his lack of faith and the ability to loosen up a little. It makes perfect sense!

In the seventh Gym, if Iris hides behind Cilan, would it be for all/most of the battle or only some of it? Why? - I know I rephrased it by the way; I couldn't be bothered referring to the topic that I created because I'm lazy like that. :P

I'm thinking that - oh yeah, IF she goes into the Gym at all, she'll cling to him for a long tiem, if not all of the episode. I mean, she did it before over a Vanillite so imagine a huge Cryoganal rampaging after Ash's little Tepig. xD I can imagine her being majorly creeped out by Cryoganol because it's so big and ti even represents a snowflake - the bane of her existence! :P But it would be more than delightful for us Wishfulshippers if she clung to him for a long time rather than a short time. I can see it happening.

Iris: Ash defeated it. He actually won! Right, that's it... Ash can just beat it up if it comes near me, so there's no need to worry! *Determined*
Cilan: How refreshing! You're already on the right track to coming over your fear, Iris. If you keep it up like this, you're sure to get over it in no time. ^-^
