The Pokemon Questions Thread Again!

I'm wondering, are there any pokémon that aren't available in the gen 4 & 5 series? Only in Gen 3? (Leafgreen, Firered, Sapphire, Ruby & Emerald?)

You can get any Pokémon you want in Generation IV and V via Pal Park and Poké Transfer, but as far as I know you can't get Jirachi and Deoxys without transferring in Generation IV and V.

Ohwell they are event pokémon. ;-) That means I can get every single non event pokémon without using gen 3 games. :-D ( I got all DS games. :3 )

Actually, there are three Gen 3 Pokémon and one Gen 4 requires Trading or transferring to caught in 4th Gen game.

However, these 4 Pokemon are in BW2, and you'll need some unique Trading: http://www.serebii.net/black2white2/unovalink.shtml

In all the games that offer it, Regigias won't "appear" unless you have Regirock, Regice & Registeel in your party.

The issue is that in Diamond and Pearl, that Regirock, Regice & Registeel needs to be transferred from a 3rd Gen game. Platinum allows you to catch all of as long as you've got the event Regigias, which you can trade for. http://www.serebii.net/platinum/regigigas.shtml

Well, Jirachi and Deoxys where given out for events in the 4th Gen, but both are over now.

I'm not sure if Phione is counted in as an Event Pokémon, but there are three ways to obtain it. Trading, Pokémon Ranger games with any 4th Gen game, and Breeding that Manaphy, and My Pokémon Ranch with Diamond or Pearl.




Anyway, I'm trying to work out which Pokémon can change their Formes in a battle. Ditto, Mew and Smergle via Transform and Zorua & Zorark via Illusion. Castform due to weather. Cherrim is due to Sunny day effects. Gratina (item) and Shaymin (sky to Land via status) and Zen Mode Darmanitan, Arceus (items) and Meloetta. Am I missing anyone?

Deoyxs is not counted since you can not change it's form on in battle.

not sure on giratina, but if arceus has his plate stolen via something like Thief, it should change him back to Normal form. Equally, if you Fling a plate onto him, he should change to the appropriate type

Both Giratina and Arceus can't be stolen from or have their items removed in any other fashion if they're using the ones that change their form.

I'm having extreme difficulty in all my battles. I can't seem to figure out what I'm doing wrong. My team seems legit enough seeing as I only have 4 gym badges so far and I'm working on getting my fifth. My team is:

Blitzle lv 26, Tirtouga lv 26, Servine lv 28, Darumaka lv 26, Sigilyph lv 27, and Vanillite lv 26.

My PC pokemon are:

Audino lv 15, Pansage lv 15, Tympole lv 13, Lillipup lv 14, Munna lv 16, Sandile lv 21, Throh lv 19, Petilil lv 14, Yamask lv 22, Pansear lv 20, Panpour lv 22, Tranquill lv 23, Minccino lv 19, Cinccino lv 22, Roggenrola lv 25, Emolga lv 23.

I haven't done any EV training thus far as I'm waiting until I can buy vitamins.

Please if you have any ideas or you can help me, please let me know. It is highly appreciated.

So I'm looking at the games I have stacked up and I have skipped a few. I still have not completed Black or White 2. Thinking about picking up Heart Gold. I know when Gen VI comes out I will have another game to play so that would bring my game total to at least 3 to complete.
Does anybody else ever get like this? Just want to go back and play the games you missed out on even though you know you need to play the new Gen to make sure you are on top of things?

I feel the same way. I feel like playing the gen 1 and 2 games some more ( I started with gen 3) and feeling like playing Platinum also. But, I feel that I might be left behind if I do.

Genesect could be Tricked/Switcheroo'd/Bestowed a Drive, I guess, but that's not a form change as much as it is a variance.

Don't rush yourself. Just play what you want. Don't play the new games if you don't want to for any reason, but you might want to at least have a save file started so you can still go to in-store events or download Wi-Fi events if they're held.

I would recommend picking up a copy of HeartGold now, even if you don't intend to play it for a while. I'm pretty sure they've stopped producing copies, so the longer you wait, the more expensive it'll be, unless you get it second-hand. But that's somewhat risky sometimes.

No, if it's in the battle at all, it'll still gain the boosted money.

You're not supposed to have 6 pokemon untill after the 7th gym/before 8th gym. This means that you spend more time training and all the trainers you battle will have to be shared between all 6 rather than the recommended 4. And you need to lv up alot in the wild as well as trainers. Use Audino's for a faster way to level up.

What? I can't think of any playthrough in any generation I've made where I didn't have my full team before gym 5 or 6. Who waits to get six Pokemon until the final gym?

The one marked in bold are weak to ground and the one marked in Italic are weak to rock. As you can clearly see about half of your team is weak to rock and ground type attack.

So you might want to tweak your team.

In my Pokémon White play through I rotated between 9 pokémon and in Pokémon White 2 I rotated about 10 pokémon.

Furthermore in my Pokémon Diamond play through my team was filled up before the 2 gym.

Not once did I feel that my team was under leveled nor did I have to pour hundred of hours on level grinding.

Incorrect.

I have been using a full 6 member team from the original Red, and even then I had 2 reserve pokémon that I rotated, and not once did I feel that I need to "level up a lot".

The only time do I need to any level grinding is before I take on the Elite 4 and that take about a hour and a half.
