Yes, it does. The sun will stay for the remainder of the battle, unless another Pokémon uses a move or ability to change the weather.

Vanillite? I'm thinking of catching one to take on Iris because my team currently is pretty lax against dragon types. I've heard it gets strong when it evolves into Vanilluxe but I'm not sure. Any thoughts?

In Black and White, you only have access to three Ice-types (save for Kyurem): Vanilluxe, Cryogonal, and Beartic. Cryogonal has absolutely abysmal defense, and Beartic is really slow, but it has good Attack. Vanilluxe has the most evenly distributed stat spread, and its vaseSpecial Attack is pretty much the same as Beartic's base Attack, so for in-game purposes, I think that Vanilluxe is your best choice for an Ice-type.

What I would do, though, is get a tough Water-type, such as Jellicent, and teach it Ice Beam to take out Iris's dragons.

You can't teach Ice Beam to either Water type before the E4 since the Ice Beam TM is found in Giant Chasm. You can get Blizzard in I think Mistralton, but that's the only thing.

Ah, TFTD is right; forgot about your lack of access to Ice Beam...ugh. Blizzard is your other option, which is good, just inaccurate. Maybe give your Samurott a Wide Lens for the duration of the battle with Iris...if you want an Ice-type, though, I would go with Vanilluxe for sure. It's the best for in-game purposes.

Your other option is to level up a male Vanillite or Cryogonal until they learn Ice Beam at level 35/36, then breed it with a female Oshawott/Dewott/Samurott or Frillish to get the move. But that's kind of redundant, since all you want to do is defeat Iris, and then you'll have access to TM13.

I recently got into breeding for IV's and such, but found it really hard. to help, i decided to pokegen a flawless ditto. I only use it to get the original set of pokes, then I take it out of the daycare as soon as possible. Is this counted as cheating?

Some combinations of Moves are impossible to obtain, since no father Pokémon could learn those combinations of moves.

Doesn't that depend on differen't people's views? I mean, I guess technically the offspring would be legit as it would be created on that game and so not hacked but, personally, I would still think of that as cheating.

Yes, some people may not wish to accept the offspring, so keep that in mind. You could have at least traded for a RNGed Ditto, which would have been completely legitimate.

Hmm, Grass has a lot of weaknesses - Flying, Fire, Poison, Ice, and Bug... Rock Slide will take care of Fire, Ice, Flying, and Bug, so that's good. Sceptile's Attack is rather sub-par, though, so a Swords Dance will probably be necessary for you. Dragon Claw is good to take care of the Dragons, but it's not super-effective against anything else. Also, since Sceptile's Attack isn't so good, you need the highest base-power attacks that you can get - so I think you should substitute Earthquake for Dragon Claw. Rock Slide you need for coverage, and Leaf Blade for STAB. You need Swords Dance to boost your Attack. Dragon Claw isn't really necessary.

yeah, I would give it Rock Slide, Earthquake, Leaf Blade, and Swords Dance.

Or, if the Sceptile will be holding a Choice Band, replace SD with something like Thunderpunch, Return, or Dragon Claw.

At what Point of the game does Thundurus decide it stats? Please answer I dont know if it decide when the man in Opelucid talks to you or if it is when Thundurus appears to you in route 7

I would imagine this too but I wouldn't know for sure.


Some questions about EVs:
I was told that EVs happen instantly now which is why you can get them after battles even when you haven't levelled up. Does this mean I wil start to see them take effect with my young pokemon or is it still a bit random as to how they come into affect (they always seemed to start appearing when the pokemon was a lot older)? Also, if you had a Pokemon at Lvl 99 with no EVs and you maxed out it's EVs before levelling up, when it did reach Lvl 100, would it gain them all in one go?
