Passed the 2000 egg mark in the hunt for the shiny axew(japanese axew father and english axew mother), from experience does anyone find it easier to mm a shiny or RE one? especially ones like axew, seviper and staryu

Considering Axew's encounter rate which is 20%, it's a lot easier to just MM for it. I got my Shiny Axew from RE's yesterday, however I wasn't aiming for it and was actually exploring the rest of the cave for the last of the items I didnt grab. Just remember, have a poke with Flame Body as the first slot poke and the steps required are halved. If you have another Black/White version and a DS, you can start a mission which allows you to obtain Hatching Power ↑ - Hatching Power ↑↑↑ which makes hatching even faster (I can hatch around 30-50 eggs in 15 minutes with a stacked box of eggs with these together, be warned though, Hatching Power ↑ only lasts 30 minutes.)

Anyway, as I said above, got myself a Shiny Axew via RE yesterday. I wasn't even hunting it and it popped up out of nowhere. Needless to say, I was very pleased. It is now an awesome Haxorus.

I also managed to MM myself a shiny Eevee, which I'm so happy about. Shiny Umbreon will be here tonight.

Haven't been here in a month. I took a break from Shiny Hunting to finish my Diamond game to get the PokeRadar {took forever because Cynthia was a beach to beat}, plus I've been with IRL problems. But now I'm continuing my RE search for a shiny Mienfoo. I'm at close to my 1k point.

Well, courtesy of the Bayern V Chelsea match, I gained 438 Encounters more on my Cold Storage Hunt, resorting to a bit of Dual REing part of the time, which left me at 669 Encounters for yesterday.

Today, I got up and soon reached 1000 Encounters, and I'm planning to hit higher marks today.

I just reached the 225 egg mark for my zorua hunt. I just got 100 more eggs that I will hatch later. Hopefully I will get the shiny Zorua I want.
I also did 430 RE's in routh 13 because I really want a shiny absol for some reason.

about 10531 soft resets for Ho-oh in heartgold. I'm beginning to think my game hates me and Ho-oh isnt going to shine. also have about 400 pawniard eggs hatched in white

Just got my first few sets of shinies!

Unfortunately, I have yet to catch any myself in this version, but I have been able to get the following through trades:

Porygon2
Solosis (so cute :3)
Elektrike
Ditto

Taking a break on Ponytas after 1000 eggs and have moved on to Treecko, the only Grass Starter I have yet to get in shiny form. (Bulbasaur, Chikorita, and Turtwig were all traded to me, and I got Snivy in around 600 or so eggs last year).

I have a question peeps. How long do random encounter? Meaning like do RE like an hour or so, or do u RE for hours?

^ I tend to RE for about an hour or 2, if i'm dual hunting I can do around 250 encounters (per game) in 2 hours.

Still collecting Charmander eggs at the moment and I'm just wondering, should I stop collecting after say, 6 boxes? Normally I collect 9 boxes but with my last hunt the shiny appeared in the 3rd box and I found it annoying having to hatch all those other eggs.

I collect 6-7 boxes of eggs per batch. That way it's easier to hatch the remaining eggs if you get an early shiny hatcher. With my Tyrogue hunt, I always get 7 boxes of eggs, because Tyrogue can evolve into three different pokemon, so I wouldn't mind an early hatch, as I could get another one!

Am I understanding this correctly:

In Heart Gold, if I have a Houndour holding a brace to pass down a stat, and a Japanese Ditto holding an everstone, the everstone won't work at all?

No matter what, if you're using the Masuda Method to breed in Heard Gold and Soul Silver you can't use an everstone? I planned on using the everstone on a Timid Ditto from my Japanese cart and having my Houndour hold a brace to pass down the Special Attack, but from what I understand now that's not possible??

If so... LAME!!!

Can anyone confirm or deny this?

I cannot Confirm, nor Deny, the truth of that rumor...

I believe you can't do that, as it was added in 5th Gen.

Hit the 50 egg mark in my Sandile hunt. I'm almost considering just going to Desert Resort and trying a RE hunt there inside the building, since I also want a Yamask, but I'm not sure which would seem more tedious to me. XD

I feel like I've answered this before. the everstone trick DOES NOT WORK with different language pokemon in Gen 4.

lost track of how many SR's I'm on for Terrakion, but first day I managed to go 17 hours straight, so I know I'm well over the 4000-6000 mark since I'm on day 8 or 9 now. Hope this isn't going to take much longer.

Good point. I think I'll stick with 9 boxes as in my first hunt Litwick didn't shine until the end of my 9th box of the batch haha. Good luck with your Tyrogue

I've almost got 9 boxes which means I can start hatching soon. I plan to start hatching this afternoon so here's hoping for a quick hunt.

Hit 100 hatched eggs in my Charmander hunt so far. Really hoping this hunt is as quick as my Snivy one but who knows! I'll keep on persevering and I'll post again once I'm finally graced with a wonderful golden Charmander!

100 eggs eh? I just hit 2,000 eggs on my charmander hunt. My 3 previous MM shinies took less than 2,000 eggs combined. Oh I also started SRing on my HG for a shiny starter, but SRing is so boring for me so I stopped at 400 SRs, but I will continue after I hatch my charmander. Good luck to everyone.

Funny, I find SRing more fun than MM. I actually rarely attempt to MM shinies as you can tell from my Shiny Card. I suppose it's different things for different people.

In other news, past the 2,000 mark for Ho-oh and Giratina.
