What EV spread would be recommended?

A mixed-attack moveset that was recommended to me was:
    -Cross Poison
    -Aerial Ace/Acrobatics
    -Giga Drain
    -Heat Wave

Is it recommended to put Roost on Crobat? I am tempted to throw that in there.

I know that in the past, Crobat was often used as a taunter, with: Taunt, Roost, Toxic, and an attacking move.

What direction should I go with this? Thanks
    I'll give this a go..

    252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Sp

    Acrobatics
    Toxic
    Super Fang
    Toxic/Taunt/Cross Poison

Not sure if this is good, you may have to ask a few more people

And just a quick question, are hazards worth putting up in Double Battles?

Okay. I need help with my Sub-Gengar.
What is better, running Sub with Giga Drain or Shadow Ball?
I feel like Gengar needs healing options without having to rely on a Wisher.

I do love me some Spiritomb and Sudowoodo, though.

Typically you're going to get around Gengar's frailty through well timed use of Substitute, with Leftovers being your only means of recovery. You can use Pain Split if you really think you need it, but SubDisable Gengar is a much more powerful threat than SubSplit is in my opinion.

Pretty much no matter how you slice it, Gengar is going to be dead weight without Substitute on there somewhere. You also pretty much always see it with Shadow Ball for STAB and Focus Blast for that nice Ghost/Fighting perfect coverage. The fourth move is really the only thing that ever changes. Disable is a popular one, as is Pain Split, like I said before. If you're going to opt for a third damage dealing move, Thunderbolt and Hidden Power Fire are popular ones. The point of a third move however would be to hit stuff that takes neutral damage from Focus Blast super effectively. Grass isn't really giving you much in terms of coverage, an it likely won't be all that strong against very much.

I appreciate where you're coming from with Giga Drain, but at the end of the day, Gengar isn't one of those Pokemon that is meant to last for very long. It hides behind subs and annoys the crap out of your opponents, while hitting specific targets very hard. It can be devastating if used right, but it isn't really meant to be a long term sweeper.

I use this one. It is up to date with gen 5, although I'm not sure if it includes Pokemon like Kyurem-B or the Therians.

Could someone help me find a moveset?
I'm looking for a Shed Shell Heatran with Stealth Rock + Toxic set, but I can't decide on EVs, Nature and the other two moves...

I'm thinking about using a rage powder distraction pokemon in a doubles team. I'm thinking about amoonguss or jumpluff. Jumpluff has high speed plus chlorophyll will make sure it gets it's rage powder in first. I plan to rage powder, giga drain to avoid taunt, synthesis, and I'm trying to decide on the fourth move. Leech seed, helping hand, u turn and some other options are what I had in mind. Amoonguss is a lot slower and does not have not have synthesis to help it out. But what it does have is more bulk and spore. It has the same healing options as Jumpluff except it has ingrain instead of leech seed. It will have the same move set as Jumpluff. Both will have leftovers to further aid in healing.

The purpose of this pokemon is take hits for porygon z while it sets up a nasty plot or two then starts sweeping. I'm going to EV train them for max HP and speed and use the remaining 4 for SpD. Or should I max HP and split between defence and SpD? Basically it's going to rage powder and heal the whole time while porygon z sweeps after a nasty plot. I'm using drought ninetales to set up weather and dragonite to kill off anything that may try to change it in the beggining.

So which one should I use?

I would go for amoonguss over jumpluff. Even though the latter is faster, if you're going to use a dedicated Rage Powder user, it at least benefits to have a very bulky and annoying one.

Also, Amoonguss gets Spore, which is the only 100% reliable sleep-inducing move in the game. Having the ability to put one of the opponent's Pokemon to sleep is really going to help with keeping that mushroom alive, while your Porygon can set up a potential sweep.

Starting in January I will be posting a variety of games to the Machinima Youtube channel, and one of the variety of games is going to be Pokemon Wi-Fi battles. My question regards the competitive scene. Call me old fashioned, but I have been playing pokemon competitively since the year 2000 and it has come to my attention that is now common practice for competitors to use programs such as Pokegen and Pokesav. I still Ev/Iv train my pokemon the old fashion way, with blood and sweat in every step in the progress. I want to know how the General Serebii battle scene feels about using these programs/hacks ?

i beleive the only way to do it is training. it just gives more..... satisfaction if you do it for yourself.

hey, this is kinda off topic, but does anyone wanna be my EV training mentor? PM me if you can, I'm trying to get into the metagame and I'm scrapping my whole team and starting from scratch
Went to the book store to get a Where's Waldo book.
    Couldn't find any.

are you talking about EV training as in in-game? or do you mean learning about learning what specific EV spreads do and how it helps against specific threats in the metagame?

for the former, there's http://www.smogon.com/bw/articles/bw_ev, and for the latter, i could help you but it'll be easier for me to explain from a NU perspective since i only play that tier.

If locket's EV guide doesn't make any sense to you, here's a simpler breakdown of EVs and EV training.

Has anyone noticed that in a double battle, say you have two Pokemon, one fast and one slow. You're battling two fairly quick Pokemon but neither are faster than your fast one. Anyway, naturally your slower one is the more powerful. I'll use Lopunny and Hydreigon for examples. Suppose I have these two on my side, and I want to take down an opposing Kingdra that I know will Dragon Pulse my Hydreigon before it can move. To get around this I'd get Lopunny to use Thunder Wave on the Kingdra to cut its speed, then Hydreigon can move before it and take it down first with Dragon Pulse. I used to do this sort of thing a lot on Diamond.

However, I've noticed lately that the speed cut doesn't seem to take effect the turn Thunder Wave is used, and so the entire strategy falls apart. It seems like something that's only taken effect on the Gen V games- or maybe it's just me. Anyoen else experienced this? Just trying to get some clarification.
