Pokemon Badge Tutorial

Alright, I somehow figured it out =P Feedback plx? =] Do keep in mind this has been done without a tablet ^^

what pokemon is the third one? it took me awhile to figure out the second one was mistrevis work a bit harder EDIT: the third is hoondoom isn't it?

The houndoom one is good, I tend to avoid doing 3/4 view badges as it makes them look more like a stylised drawing of a pokemon.
The front view and side views give it a more symbolic look that makes it more badge like, but personal preference.

I do agree with you, am still figuring it all out a bit though, am not the greatest as getting them symbolic, though I do think you can see improvement from left to right!
Would you have any pointers on how to make them look more symbolic?

'fraid not, I tend to just choose the most identifying parts of a pokemon and try to keep it simple using these characteristics.

do you have any tips like i want to make a badge but i don't want to have photoshop for example witch one should i use gimp or paint.net? and imagein the world without photoshop and only these tow witch one is best to use?

I have used neither - So I honestly wouldn't have a choice, but I think I woul suggest maybe GIMP, as that has layer abilities.

I found a new way to shade instead of changing the colour. Well, new for me. It's using the Dodge/Burn tool. I think it looks good compared to my laxst one, but I'd like some feedback, please.

Made shrink size from 70 to 100. I think it looks better that way. Anyway, its a Pikachu Badge.

using the burn and dodge tools is a good idea, you just need to make sure you can keep the streaks at the same angle

Yeah... that happens to me as well. I use a notebook computer, so i don't have a real mouse, but when i do, i can't work properly.

I will probably end up redoing the roses on the roselia badges though, but right now I am not entirely sure how I should fix them.

The Roselia badges have definatly improved, and good work on the Pixel style too, havn't seen many people trying the Pixel style, but you've got it good =]

I made the lines too thin and maybe white wasn't the best idea for a first try, but I used my personal character for the model. First stab at a badge, I'll definitely be trying this again.

I'm having problems.

I don't have Photoshop on my laptop, but I do have it on my desktop. However, it's an older version (PS5, or something), and that makes things rather difficult.

I'm REALLY confused at the layers thing. I'm not sure if I should create a layer, make my drawing on that, and create a layer UNDER it, or if I should make the image on the background.

It also doesn't help that I lack the ability to directly manipulate my objects...

It won't work on PS5 - I used PS5 for my Photography exam, you can't seem to highlight the objects within a layer using the trick I did, and i'm not sure how else you would do it for two layers at a time. =[

Eep! My first try on this. I just got Photoshop two days ago and have started messing around with it. Just learnt how to use the pen tool, thought it might work. I suck at the shading though.

I have Photoshop Elements 8, which works with my Tablet. But the effects I did in Paint.Net since Photosop confuses me...
