The one player that is not a starter is the one player that is not hurting us. Everyone else in that lineup is a threat. I figured the yankees would be resting players.

They're resting CC. If I were a Rays fan I'd be glad.

They did. Yet they only player they are resting is jeter. I know they rested Sabathia, but honestly I am more worried about the Yankee lineup than the pitcher.

ESPN's front page showing a picture of the Boston HR and has the giant caption "That's More Like It"

    So much for unbiased

Rays now tied. Their chances of winning this game are pretty bad now though. Yankees will use their top relievers tonight. Oh well. Made a good run, boston just got a lucky homer from a nobody call up and the Rays offense put the final nail down.

There's still hope. You've got the rest of the games tonight and tomarrow.

Lester pitching against the O's tomorrow. not much hope if we are a game behind. I have no faith at all in the rays offense.

Rays just can't beat the Yankees at full strength

Colon. he was due to have a good game

Rays get a triple play to get out of the inning. but down a run is a mountain to this offense

yankee pen in. Rays need a miracle now.

sox having another game where they just out hit their pitching problems. 7-3 now

Bunch of scrubs for the Yankees tomorrow imo

Tex I think on the triple play

I don't have any hope for tomorrow if the rays are a game behind with Lester pitching against the O's. yankees best relievers in now, rays are done tonight.

Jose Reye's last game at Citi Field could be on Wednesday. If he becomes a Yankee, I've lost hope in humanity.

Right now I'm watching this documentary about Steve Barkman on ESPN right now; very insightful.

Right now the Rays/Red Sox chase is the most interesting thing happening in the MLB no?

RAYS WIN! What a game. I thought we were done! Homer off the guy that shut the door for us so many times last year. Come on O's! 8-6!

Triple play and a 3 run homer from a Tampa guy to keep the Rays alive. Couldn't script it any better!

Posada should play in center field. Girardi should play catcher for the hell of it. Put Sabathia at short. Swisher pitching. Make it happen.

@Money902: I also watched it. It was pretty interesing which is expected from the 30 for 30 series.

I know the "Yankees buy every player available" dictum is what passes for a reasonable thought in this thread, but let's please be reasonable. Reyes is a shortstop, maybe a second baseman for the right team. The Yankees are already pretty set at both of those positions, wouldn't you say? And not only do they not have a place to play him now, but they also couldn't sign him to play second base with the intent of moving him to shortshop when Jeter finally hangs it up.

If anything, you should be "worried" about him being on Boston's radar, if one does indeed consider this something about which to "worry". They can go about buying out Scutaro for a relative pittance, and it's very unlikely that they see any of their internal options at shortshop, like Lowrie or Iglesias, as long-term solutions.

I'll let you know as soon as I finish yawning. Two teams, one with no offense and one with no pitching, battling for the right to play Texas or Detroit, the latter meaning Justin Verlander twice, in the opening round of the playoffs.

For there to be a race at all, it means Boston had to perpetrate a collapse of historic proportions, which they did by playing terrible baseball. And the rest of the country is supposed to be excited by this?
