The first battle is Pokabu vs Baoppu, Pokabu wins. Great strategy.

Nice battle so far. Especially for a first gym battle.

My review after watching the battle & all that crap.

-Hehe it looks kinda like Ash and and Iris are on a date.
    -Rabid gym leader fangirls ftw!
    -What's with Iris's sly expression?
    -Great battling done by Pokabu.
-I fully respect Corn now... what an amazing strategy.
-Gotta love the "oh shiz" look on Miju's face hehe.

Really, never expected them to finish next week. I wanna see Mijumaru pwn Yanappu plox.

Looks like Hiyappu almost beats Pikachu. Pikachu loses, too bad. 1-1.
Now Mijumaru has to beat Yanappu.

Yeah, Pikachu LOST! Not only is it an electric type, but it just tied with a Latios at the end of a previous saga. It should not lose to a water type.

It's also because Ash going with a speedy electric type was something Cress was prepared for, as a lot of beginning trainers have probably tried the same thing. And, no offense or anything, but Pikachu being an electric type doesn't matter much if he doesn't even land a single hit. But yeah, Cress's speedy attacks did impress.

Honestly Pansage may have actually pulled out the weakest gym battle out of the three.

Loved the episode too, by the way. I'm glad Ash wasn't completely reset as you can see by his strategizing here that he does know what he's doing. I am a bit sad at Pikachu's one-sided loss, and the fact that this was the only real interesting gym battle so far, but I can't complain.

Earlier on it was "super-charged" not only making it stronger, but also allowing it to hold its own against Pokémon with a resistance to its electricity.

It has battled MANY opponent's, some of them rare and sometimes legendary.

The same Pikachu that managed to tie with a Latios; a legendary Pokémon who had no type disadvantage to it.

We are actually given reasons to see how strong Pikachu is or should be, while we can only guess how long Panpour has been battling putting its strength into doubt. If it were battling against a fairly low-level Grass or Electric type, it winning would be more believable, but not against a Pokémon of Pikachu's strength and calibre.

Beating a basic, unevolved Pokémon with a type disadvantage should be the LEAST of what Pikachu is capable of by now. It's not like I'm claiming shenanigans on a difficult battle where Pikachu could actually lose, but a battle where it had CLEAR advantage.

I don't see how I'm being unreasonable here, though people's responses would suggest I am.
I wouldn't say you're being unreasonable, but like someone else said, Corn is older than Ash, so he probably had Panpour a lot longer.

Maybe if he evolved it into Simipour, it could beat Zekrom.

Aw come on....Tepig and Oshawott needed to win and that means Pikachu has to lose. There's no other way.
    ------------------

The gym battle was ok, except for the Oshawott vs Pansage one which looked like comic relief. I liked the Tepig vs Pansear battle more than the other two, mostly because Panpour looked like it was enjoying using scratch on Pikachu WAY too much, and Pikachu should have at least damaged Panpour with Thunderbolt or Volt Tackle before losing to the monkey IMO. 7/10

Just curious... Where are you getting this stream?

And Pikachu lost.. I was expecting it. Considering Pikachu's a downy.

Wait, so the battle hasn't ended yet? It's strange. I was sure Ash is going to win the badge in this episode.
I guess he wins next week.

Well while Pikachu did lose again you have to admit that Hiyappu was pretty damn good. I never saw double team used like that in motion. Also Corn used a pretty good strategy by attack Pikachu's feet which is good because Pikachu's a very speedy Pokemon and attacking him there was a good idea.

Some of you are aware Hiyappu hit Pikachu with a ground type move, right? Edit: Or maybe not, seriously, it can only use two, so WTF was that move then.

I mean seriously hating the episode or not finishing it because Pikachu lost to a better trainer who HAS TO have Strategies against type advantages, is really the most stupid thing a fan of the anime can do.

I mean seriously, Corn was just better. it's not like Pikachu actually hit Hiyappu with any attacks anyway (except maybe quick attack).

Misinterpreting my posts is not your fault, negative repping me, and getting very sensitive about my posts because you misinterpreted my posts however is your fault. Think really hard, before negative repping or making a big deal about my posts. I don't appreciate being negative repped for reasons that are a result of misinterpreting my posts.

Pikachu can go all the way against a freaking Latios just before Unova but gets smacked at the start of this region against a bunch of weak pokémon. Makes a lot of sense.

Also the gym battle continues next week, pretty surprises for a first gym battle overall great episode. The is already better than half of the Sinnoh gym battle episode which I greatly despised expect for Hearthome.

    Can someone make a commentary?
    Done.

Ash is pretty excited to get to the First Gym this early.
Dento*'s here already and it's not even three minutes in.
Like most Isshu-native people he really likes Pikachu.
    * Dent pronounces his name " Dent-o " so I'm using that for now on. Kay?
Dento agrees to take them to the gym when asked. He takes then to what looks like a cafe.
Ash doesn't want any food ... for once. He just wants to battle.
'Course when he says battle the fangirls go wild. Like literally.
The brothers are really showy when it comes to introductions. Like Fantina-showy.
Oh, this must be where Gary's Cheerleader's went.
Ash was supposed to choose his opponent but he wants to fight them all. They agree.
First up is Pod. Dent is acting as Ref.
Ash sends out Pokabu. Iris and I both are surprised.
Minus Fire Punch Pod's monkey has about the same move pool as Chimchar.
After some mishaps Pokabu pulled off a pretty impressive victory. It seems rather proud of itself.
Next up is Corn ... after the break.
After the break we get some of Team Rocket sneaking around town.
Now back to the Gym. Ash chooses Pikachu.
Corn is super-confident he'll win this one.
And it's no surprise why. Pikachu is more or less plummeted.
Back to Team Rocket. Looks like they're about to pull something with Giovanni's approval.
Now back to the Gym. It's Dent's turn. Pod's now reffing.
Roffle. The little otter-thing folded its arms like Buizel when it came out.
Oops. It looks afraid to battle after seeing its opponent just like the last episode.
Ash has to give it a pep talk saying that he knows its great and all.
After getting hit the otter-thing's really reluctant to fight.
It takes a while but they finally get a hit.
Then it gets serious. (music change and al - IT'S OVER

I wasn't expecting this to be a two parter, but here we go.

I just wanna ask if Dento and his brothers are effeminate?
Not really. It just seems like they're all trying to show off for their fangirl customers.

The TR subplot is now beng taken more seriously than I expected, wow.

So the otter has confidence issues when it comes to official battles?
