Pidgey. It didn't stay in my party for long though. I remember having a near full team before the 2nd gym the first time I played through it.

.bellsprout, it was my second strongest Pokemon and itevolved onto sweeping Bell after morty and then started that way until after Claire.

Caught a Sentret first, and then 3 Pidgeys to follow. Traded two to my Platinum for a Cyndaquill and Totodile

I'm pretty sure mine was just a Sentret. ^^; I wish it had been something cooler, haha. I whacked him in my Pokewalker straight away.

Same as the OP, Bellspruout for the Onix trade. I didn't bother with stuff like Pidgey and Sentret.

Pidgey of course! I always catch the regional bird first and train it up to be one of my best team members. Sheer chance it was the first pokemon i encountered.

Pidgey or Hoothoot (if it's late when I start a new file). I just feel the need for a flying type early in the game so it can kick Bugsy's butt, since I usually pick Totodile.

If I dont start with the water starter, I need to get a water type for Swimming. So mostly the Eevee bill gives you or like a Goldeen

The first was a Geodude. I named him Giovanni and he is now a Golem. Part of the team, of course.

The first one I caught was a Pidgey. Just a placeholder for something I can teach fly until Ho-oh.
