Aaw no other pokemon? Oh well, I liked Forrest's Rhyperior against that Latias, it was destined to lose against a legendary anyway but it made a good battle. But I was expecting Brock to do better with Suddowoodo

Um. Is it bad that my favorite part of this episode was the scene where we saw the pictures of Brock with all the old cast members? That was the only part of this episode that I enjoyed to be honest. The rest of the episode's plot felt sort of familiar; like I had seen it happen a hundred times before. I liked that Brock battled Nurse Joy, but he went and lost way too easily. Forrest's battle against Nurse Joy was actually far more enjoyable, even if his Rhyperior still lost to Joy's Latias. Speaking of that Joy: I'm wondering if she's related to Tobias, because they both trolled used a member of the Lati line. Anyway, this episode was sort of disappointing, especially after all the hype. 5/10.

....so I think we can all pretty much agree that whole "catch a legendary and the world will end" rule the anime had was pretty much thrown out the window by now?

    I have to say that was one mean-spirited Nurse Joy. o_o;;;

"I'll give you one battle chance to prove you guys can have a gym or else I'm shutting it down. Go super legendary Pokemon!"

"Please don't look at me that way, I'm a very shy little girl!"

I finally got to see this episode. The battle between Forrest and the Inv. Joy was great! The parents were really hilarious throughout the whole episode, not to mention the hawaiian cheerleader outfits.

I was disappointed with this special. I was hoping to see more of Brock's old pokemon, like Marshtomp, Geodude (hope these evolved) and the rest, we didn't even see his whole DP team, not even his Chansey appeared.
Other than that, it was alright, I say alright because it was in Japanese and it involved a few speaking scenes which I couldn't relate too (the positive about Dawn's was it was similar to previous episodes so I had an idea of what was going on) However, the battling made up for this, and the epiosde was a nice special. Let's hope the To Be Continued on both of them mean we will have more from these 2.

    Copy paste.

    - We get an overview of Pewter City and then Brock's house/gym. I always found it funny Brock's house was situated RIGHT BEHIND the gym. We then get a glimpse into Brock studying. That looks pretty boring. Anyway we also get to see photos of all Brock's traveling friends. Which is very nice and it really shows how long Brock was on the show for.
    - Something's wrong and we get a pan view to the gym which is missing its ever-changing sign. Forrest is battling with his/Brock's steelix.. but just before the battle starts it is called off. What ever could be the problem?
    - Brock's made a big feast for his younger siblings. He then goes into the playroom/bedroom and Sudowoodo/Marill are playing with the youngest siblings. Awww.. sudowoodo.. Forrest's replacement runs in and tells everybody there's a problem.
    - I love how all of Brock's siblings line up in age order all the time.
    - A mysterious figure lines the doorway, but of course Brock recognises a far and very willingly sprints towards her until he is stopped by the ever-present Croagunk. His siblings poke his lifeless body.
    - Brock is overwhelmed by the thought of battling Nurse Joy. The battle starts and LOL at the music. I haven't heard that song for so long. It's really cool they even have it if you think about it considering how they ignored Brock through the series.
    - Unfortunately even though Brock is strong he lost pretty bad as Sudowoodo couldn't take the overwhelming beauty of his Chansey opponent.
    - Brock's parents comically come in at the wrong time to give all their children presents. Brock seems rather unimpressed.
    - Sitting down around the family table Flint describes something that I didn't really understand, but I found it funny.
    - Wow Brock, you sure don't half hate your parents. Why so angry? It's funny how he never got this angry around Ash.
    - Like father like son.
    - A lone eyecatch, with old music! Awesome.
    - Brock goes to confront Joy and 'Nurse' Joy runs in and has a problem! Depressing music plays whilst Brock explains how she could fix the Pokemon. PIA Joy realises Brock is good at being a Breeder/Doctor rather than a gym leader. Brock mentions the word Breeder a lot - why?
    - Despite having a large house 10 children sleep in the same room together.
    - Forrest stands in the place we first ever saw Brock. That's nice.... Brock comforts Forrest about the next day whilst his proud parents overlook their conversation. Then get distracted by each other.
    - The battle starts and Brock's parents bring nice cheerleading clothes for everyone but Brock. LOL.
    - This battle is obviously a fix because Rhyperior would have won. Three megahorns?
    - Rhyperior dies yet Joy still agrees to keep the gym open. If she's going around closing gyms because the gym leaders can't beat her, why on earth does she use a Latias against a gym that is usually battling caterpies.
    - Outside Joy says her goodbyes and Brock, Flint, Lola all simultaneously do their thing whilst Forrest is embarrassed.
    - Croagunk kills Brock's chance whilst Brock's song comes on again.. O-NE-E-SA-Nnnn~
-That was a nice, uh, final send off for Brock. I guess. Being stabbed in the lower back once again, forever.
    - To be continued.

Hmm. Whilst I really did enjoy this episode and it most likely is one of my favourites, IF not my favourite episode, it makes me sad Brock lost so easily! Come on, if you're getting rid of the guy they could have done it in a better light. But I really do enjoy everything with Brock's family and his parents are so funny. I guess I'm glad now Brock is just staying at home, because his siblings obviously mean a lot to him. Though I really don't think this is the end of him. Or atleast I hope it isn't.

I love how Brock seemed a lot more expressive in this special. Something the writers failed to do all of the other time. Like when Brock was angry or just the general physical comic scenes - like when he was jumping up and down at his parents. His character is really fun and episodes like this are great.

It's such a shame we didn't see more of his old pokemon - what was that about! And no Chansey! & we only saw Croagunk for two very short scenes. Oh well, guess that's what his character has become after the Galatic final. It's also weird how they didn't really mention the whole Doctor thing at all apart from in passing.

The music and animation was really fab. Especially the vocal song. I much preferred this to the Dawn special as it was funnier, better battles and etc.

    10/10

    And so it ends..

I just saw the episode. It was pretty good but wasn't terrible interesting either. The Nurse Joy with the Latias ticked me and I normally like Nurse Joy's but this one was cheap with her Latias, all legendary Pokemon are uber in the anime. I mean it's lame when a character uses a legendary Pokemon just to win a match and then leaves and never returns. That's why I never minded when Brenden of the Battle frontier used the Regi's because he appeared more then once and gave rematches to avenge the losses, but just coming out of the blue and using legendaries to kill your opponent then take off? Lame. I liked Forrest and Rhyperior and Brock's entire family for that matter so this one was better then the Dawn special, but it still felt very lacking to me. It also sucks that Brock also lost after finally getting a battle for so long, poor guy, but Nurse Joy's and there Chansey's are tough. Overall a pretty good episode and I enjoyed seeing Brock's photo's of his friend's, it show's while he didn't have the best interactions with all of them he still has memories of them, except for poor neglected Tracey. Tracey need's a special now. Anyway good job on the Brock special.

Hm... the second appearance of the League Inspectors (or 3rd if the Showdown in Dark City involved one.)... they always come when one of our old friends leaves the party. Ok, so they only appeared once before (barring SiDC), but still, that was when Misty left the party, so the point stands.

First Darkrai & co., now Latias. Granted, the inspector battled Brock with her Chansey, but still, uber much?

You know, this makes me want another Inspector appearance at the Cascade Gym with the inspector challenging Misty on the grounds that Misty is too harsh! I mean, we see badges as things to be earned in battle, but then just powering through becomes a viable strategy. What is taught by that? Conversely, what lessons are taught when the GL himself overpowers all foes? (This question is what likely triggered Volkner's Heroic BSOD.)

(This is not to say that I don't want to see May or Tracey in specials, though the latter can just jump around between Brock, Misty, and Oak/Delia. Max is covered on my post in the Dawn Special topic. Heck, I'd like Gary to meet, if not May, then at least Drew in Sinnoh.)

On another topic: granted, Flint & Lola are more flighty than Misty's sisters (at least Daisy, jury is still out on the middle two,) but still: Pot, Kettle. Kettle, Pot.

At least this class change seems to stick (unlike Dawn's).
Ash was 10 when he started and is still 10 today.

My boss was in college when Ash started and he's still in college today.

After seeing how Forrest's Rhyperior did some serious damage to Latias, I think it's safe to say that there will be absolutely no new trainers in the Kanto League this year. I mean seriously, how is a Bulbasaur supposed to beat that thing?!

The battle between Forrest and PIA Joy was really great. Rypherior was awesome with how he caught that Dragon Pulse and smashed it on the floor.

This post is fashionably late. Deal with it.

-Aww, Brock has group photos of the trios(& quartet) he's been in. And the DP one features a hilariously D8 Piplup.
-You know Brock's book is complicated because it has vaguely molecule-ish things on the cover.
-Sorry Brock, but your food porn just can't compete with Dento's.
-I love how all of Brock's siblings prove that nobody ever ages in this anime.
-Of course Brock can immediately tell who Joy is. Now where the hell is Croagunk?
    -There we go.
-Ahahaha, all of Brock's siblings are totally confused about what just happened.
-You know...why is it the JOYS who inspect gyms? You'd think the Jennies would be a better fit.
-And Steelix has been standing in place that entire time, apparently not caring.
-Brock seems to have stolen some of Dento's sparkles!
-Apparently Forrest isn't officially a Leader? You'd think Brock would have had the foresight to handle that a couple of sagas ago.
-The battle begins, and...TAKESHI NO PARADISE? What?
-Joy sends out a Chansey. Come on Brock, use a physical attack! ANY physical attack! Bam, instant victory!
    -Oh snap, Minimize and Attract!
-The use of Takeshi no Paradise is ruining any ability I had to take this battle seriously. I know the writers are using this as a send-off for Brock, and this is the only theme song he has, but still.
-Haha, the kids are commenting on how Sudowoodo is now into Chansey just like how Brock is into Joy. Or something like that.
-Sudowoodo tries to use flail, but an Egg Bomb thwarts that plan. That's what Brock gets for not battling since...uh...er....um...
-Enter the parents! (in matching hawaiian shirts, no less)
-I just realized that Brock's mom has very Kenny-like hair.
-...did...did Flint seriously get distracted by a shiny rock while he was delivering Forrest's leader registration forms?
-And then the registration stuff blew away and Flint didn't care. Why was this man ever given responsibility for anything, again?
-Brock is rightfully pissed about this.
-Aw, Brock and Croagunk are all alone in the eyecatch.
-Wait, the Nurse Joy and the Inspector Joy are different but operating out of the same building? That's needlessly confusing!
-I'm not entirely sure, but I think that Nurse Joy is explaining to Inspector Joy that Brock has been going around as a breeder(and now is training to be a Pokemon doctor)? And Brock's using that as an excuse for why he's not a very good battler anymore? But Inspector Joy had already given the Gym a second chance...I'm so confused right now.
-Blah blah nighttime scene where Forrest is nervous and Brock tells him not to worry blah blah.
-...you know, the Gym building used to have NIBI GYM/PEWTER GYM(depending on whether you watched the original or the dub) on it. But it doesn't anymore. Odd, considering that they managed to remember every other part of the Gym's design. (or maybe it was on purpose, so that the dubbers would have less to edit)
-OH MY FUCKING GOD I LOVE BROCK'S PARENTS. They just dressed up themselves and all of their children(except for Brock) in stereotypical Hawaiian outfits & cheerleading pom-poms.
-A little kid as the judge and another little kid as the leader. Man, this is like the littlest, more adorablest Pokemon gym ever.
-Forrest sends out Rhyperior, Joy sends out Latias. Where did she even get that thing?
-Forrest both knows the type of a mythical Pokemon almost nobody has seen AND has exactly the move to counter it. Also he's, like, 8. Goddamn, son.
-I love how this battle is just Forrest spamming Megahorn(and Dig when he needs to evade something), and he's doing really well. It's just like the games!
-Forrest loses, but considering that he was up against a goddamned legendary Pokemon...
-...Joy lets Forrest keep the gym open!
-Of course Brock has to get off one last horndog moment before the episode ends. Of course.
-Croagunk jabs him, of course, and right on cue, the music changes to... Takeshi no Paradise? Oh well, that's as good a way to end the episode as any.

Not an awe-inspiring episode by any means. But it's meant to be Brock's sendoff from the show, and it's pretty decent by that standard.

I'm pretty sure that GLs in the anime have various Pokemon they can use against trainers of varying skill levels. We saw that with Aloe a couple eps ago - she switched from using Yorterrie to Harderrier when she saw that Ash had gotten stronger.

Cool episode, I enjoyed the battle between Rhyperior and Latias.

And by the way, this was the first episode ever where a Pokémon used Minimize.

It's such a shame Brock was so fail at battling in this episode. It's almost like they wanted his loss to be comical, with the music and all. Not fair! He's always been pretty strong and it's a shame for him to be made the fall guy on an episode based on him.

Eh, Brock's never really been about battling anyway, so its not a big deal.

When was the last time Brock was in a real battle before this, not counting when he used Sudowoodo against Meowth in DP191? I think his last real battle was in that Cherubi girl episode back at Snowpoint city...

Why Brock why on Earth would you entrust something so important to your father?
Excellent episode, I like the family dynamics with Brock's entire family it really brings home the importance of the Pewter Gym. Forest did an excellent job at battling Joy, nice to see that the gym is in good hands.

That is indeed unfair. Then they can close down every gym...

Aside from that, enjoyable episode and nice storyline, and nice to see Forrest getting some time on screen and nice to see him battle. I hope this won't be Brocks last episode ever, I hate Cilan, Brock is better! I hope Brock will return someday, as a recurring character, or even better, as a main character (but I know that won't happen).

What I was most displeased at was Nurse Joy and her Latias.

Seriously, just coming off Takuto and his Latios, they must love them some Lati@s, them animators.

She used Chansey skillfully enough, I'm sure a Dragonite or other dragon non-legend would have worked better.

Also, WTF on Brock's brother with the Rhyperion, yet Brock's pokemon save for 3-4, never evolved/ were neglected.

What the hell did I just watch? I don't get this about Brock's crazy family again. Was there a need for the legendaries to make the show more interesting or what? And giving them to a Nurse! Was there no one else? I mean absolutely no one else? It would have been better to have Tobais show up to do that then to.........You know what, nevermind. They might as well as shut it down. We all know that something else bad would happen to it by the time Brock gets back if that kid or his retarded parents can't keep it up.
