Three major flaws with this statement:
1. I like "One More Night". Go look through some of my previous posts if you don't believe me.
2. When "songs I liked" were #1, they were breaking digital records, like selling 300K for six weeks in a row, or selling 500K in a single week despite it not being a debut or a special time of high sales. Meanwhile, OMN is currently #4 on the Digital Songs chart, and has only gone one week selling over 200K.
3. When "songs I liked" were at #1, they weren't constantly blocking songs that were clearly having a far bigger cultural impact in the country. And try as you might, it's impossible to deny that outside of the Hot 100, "Gangnam Style" is much bigger than "One More Night" right now.
Did you guys see the video for J Biebz' new song ft. Minaj?
There are so many things wrong with this sentence already.

Just wondering, how is fun.'s Carry On doing in the charts right now? I've seen its video and I love it! And I really like the song too.
Visit my blog!Pleaseeeeee
It's #172 on iTunes and hasn't debuted in the Hot 100.. but hopefully it'll become another hit single for them, the song is amazing, I love it!
Wow at Rihanna's new video, she never disappoints.I hope Die Young and Diamonds both hit #1 but I'm worried because Locked Out Heaven could block them. D:<
"Carry On" hasn't been sent to Pop or HAC radio yet, which is why it isn't doing so well at this point (right now, it's only charting on Alternative). However, I'm sure it will be another fairly big hit for them, because it has a similar feel to it as "We Are Young", which was massive. I don't think it will do as well as WAY or SN because some parts are a bit slow and quiet, but I'm sure it will reach at least the Top 20 in its peak.
back to the holiday question, i could possibly get some heat for this, seeing as the opinion of this song is pretty unanimous, but i really like "locked out of heaven". at first it was a close call but i am leaning more towards diamonds. I've always loved Rihanna, more than bruno mars (no i don't love him but yes i love a couple of his songs) and in the end i think its just a better song. however, i would put my money on LOOH cuz its bruno mars, this is the time of year that he usually makes a mark in charts, girls swoon for this guy, and, oh yeah, it's bruno mars.
btw i failed to mention die young. well that's just because i never like ke$ha and the song is nothing special

So "Gangnam Style" finally leaves the top of iTunes, as "Diamonds" is now the #1 on iTunes. As long as it keeps this position for the rest of this week, then it will be #1 on next week's Hot 100 (not the one posted on the 15th, the one posted on the 22nd).
One Direction is also pulling a smaller version of Taylor Swift, as a ton of their tracks from their album are charting high on iTunes. I knew they had a big fanbase, but I didn't realize it was THAT big.
I haven't listened to Diamonds all the way through yet. I don't know if I like it or not.
You really could have fooled me since you complain about it on a weekly basis.
I bet they will be number one on the albums chart next week. Yeah, fanbase is big, tickets to their 2013 World Tour have been sold out since April and May.
Love this video, very beautiful.
Team Galactic conquers all
Once again, go back and find my comments on the past 5 or so Hot 100 Top 10s. I've never once complained about the quality of the song itself, I just complain that it's been #1 for so long because I don't think it's a deserving #1 - not based on quality, but based on relevance to the country.
Billboard Hot 100 (Week of November 24, 2012):

Next week, these two songs will switch. It'll be nice to have a new #1. (inb4HoennMasteraccusesmeofhatingOMN)
12th week in the Top 5! Even though it never made it to #1, it blew away my expectations!4. "Some Nights" - Fun. (-1)
Wow, I knew this would fall this week, but didn't think it would be my this much. If only radio had embraced this song...5. "Gangnam Style" - PSY (-3)
In terms of Flo Rida songs, this one isn't so bad, so I'm okay with it entering the Top 10.10. "I Cry" - Flo Rida (+2)
it's been a while since i have liked the majority of the top 10 (70%).
looking forward to another #1 by rihanna. I've lost track of how many that would be. and lol very subtleOriginally Posted by Silent Conversation
i think the real victory is that a kpop song in a foreign language made it all the way to #2 in an English-speaking world. you can't win every battle. psy didn't, but he won the important ones, which is ironic since apparently Koreans don't even like him. i'll admit the time it took for me to finally realize that i like this song is comparable to the time it took "lights" to reach its peakIf only radio had embraced [Gangnam Style]
so what you're saying is rihanna is the real winner here. awesome.Originally Posted by RickHoenn

In terms of singles sales, yes, of course Rihanna is powerful. (Of course, Taylor isn't a 'singles artist' but is more of an 'albums artist' *cough*1.2millionsalesdebutweek*cough*)
Personally I've always sort of found Bruno Mars ridiculously annoying (mainly because of the cheesiness of Grenade and Just The Way You Are) but I must admit, I do quite like Locked out of Heaven; it's definitely growing on me. *shrugs*
And yay I'm glad One More Night is doing well, although yeah I do agree that it's surprising, I guess, that it's lasted so long at number 1.

Unapologetic leaked, I plan on listening to it soon.
Apparently, so did the Re-Up, but I don't think anyone cared enough to find a download.
Yes.
No.3. "Die Young" - Ke$ha (+3)
Well, he has a point. You only seemed to mention in a negative light.
Personally, I'm just glad Gangam Style is fading, it's an earsore and the video loses effect after about one watch. Overrated to ****.
And also worldwide recognition, social impact and general popularity. I don't even like Riri that much, but don't be so quick to sell her short.
Just thought I'd go back and find some of my old posts in this thread as to avoid certain confusion from other common posters.
Anyways, listening to "Unapologetic" now. Based on the first three songs (not including "Diamonds"), I'm not really liking this album very much. Nothing is really standing out, and right now I'm not impressed. Well, I have 10 tracks to go, so maybe it'll redeem itself in its later songs.
Speaking of Rihanna, she just confirmed that she will shortly be releasing a "Diamonds" remix featuring Kanye West. I'll be honest, I'm kind of confused why she's doing this. Usually artists release remixes when a song's sales are mediocre and/or it's having a hard time reaching #1 on the Hot 100. Yet "Diamonds" is currently at the top of iTunes AND it's almost guaranteed #1 on the Hot 100 within the next two weeks. So this seems pointless if you ask me.
