I'd love for Lana to sell a lot, but it won't happen. I think she's prepping "Blue Jeans" for her next single release, unfortunately—there are at least five other tracks I'd choose before it, and I don't think it'll really catch fire digitally or on the radio.

At this rate it's going to be incredibly difficult for anyone to beat Adele this year, especially given that the bigger releases (Gaga, Taylor) seem to be slated for Q3/Q4 releases. It will be interesting.

About time Taylor churned out more musical gold.

I have "Video Games" on repeat constantly now because situations call for it, but after downloading her album she's actually not bad. At first I wasn't interested in her and I still think she could work on putting out emotion in her voice but I think she is worthy of getting a bunch of sales. Sadly, she isn't "radio friendly".

Even radio friendly artists are flopping, see Gaga+Rihanna.

Let her keep churning that 'indie' music.

Well, in Rihanna's case she had bad promotion and for some reason just kept shooting song after song after song. I still constantly hear "We Found Love" all over the place. Its starting to make my ears bleed.

Yeah, I still love "We Found Love" but only when I choose to hear it/play it.

When it is STILL being spammed on the radio 6 months later, I dislike hearing it.

A video for Where Have You Been, is being shot, yet, where the hell is the video for Talk That Talk, or are they taking a page from Beyonce's camp and calling it a 'promotional Single'?

I think "Promotional Singles" are just code names for "It didn't chart well" or "its a flop but it doesn't count cause its promotional"

I could kind of understand the success of "Call Me Maybe" here in Canada because Carley Ray Whatsherface IS Canadian. But now it has spent several weeks at #1 AND is in the Top 10 on the US iTunes chart. Yes, the song is radio friendly enough, some may even call it charming, blah-blah-blah...then I stumbled upon this. Never underestimate the power of tween popstars. Remember, Selena Gomez and Taylor Swift are part of the reason "Super Bass" became so popular [and the reason why Nicki decided to release it in the first place]. It's funny because that video has more views than the official video for the song.

While you guys are on the topic of Lana Del Rey, I thought I may as well bring up the news that Cheryl Cole is recording one of her leftover tracks for her 3rd album. I don't think we have anyone here who is both a fan of Lana and Cheryl's, but it's still interesting enough for either fanbase. Cheryl singing a Lana song sounds like a terrible idea, but obviously her team is just going to take the lyrics and turn it into a manufactured pop jam.

And speaking of British popstars girls releasing new music, Tulisa is gearing up to drop her debut single [interestingly called the same as the popular Fun. song] "We Are Young". She just shot the video in Miami and apparently her album drops in May, so the single should be out quite soon. I never liked N-Dubz but became a bit enamoured with Tulisa during X Factor, so I am quite excited for this album. I mean, obviously if it's shit then that's that...but she said she wanted to make music like Rihanna so I'm definitely interested.

    That's a shame though.

Some of Beyonce's 'promotional' singles are some of her best tracks.....

I don't get why the song is so popular though. It's not bad, but it's far from the greatest thing since slice bread. Oh well, I won't complain because usually the Canadian Charts are far less stupid then ours here in the US.

At least the song will sound good now (*shot*). I hope it's at least a good song lyrically because I can't stand Lana's music. I'm happy for another Cheryl album, but I REALLY want a new GA album. Apparently, the reunion tour at least is set for 2013.

I'm guessing that Rihanna's label has given up on "Talk That Talk." I'm glad that they're filming a video for "Where Have You Been", but shouldn't they focus their efforts on "Birthday Cake"?

They are so all over the place I just don't get what they are going with. They should of focused on Birthday Cake since that song already created such a rise in fans and the media. Or maybe that's why they dropped it completly. This whole era just looks like one big mess by the record company.

In other news We have 16 more songs to listen to from 'Roman Reloaded' cause its 22 tracks long.

This album may break her fragile career, this is just horrible management and an artist that does not give a flying fuck

Too controversial? Also no mention of a full length solo Birthday CAKE.

22 tracks? She can't even be consistent with 4. I'm sure that album is going to be disorganized which is not surprising coming from Nicki.

OWAIT I thought you were talking about Beyonce's 4.

Yeah, Nicki's just setting up to be a mess. :/ It doesn't help that her stage prescence is hectic and frightening *hides in a corner*

I was dead when I woke up this morning,
And I'll be dead before the day is done.
That puts them boys on rock-rock,
And they'll linin' down the block,
Just to watch what I got.
So put yo freakum dress on.

Somewhat Alternative artists in iTunes top #4:

    1. We Are Young - Fun

    2. Glad You Came - The Wanted

    3. Stronger - Kelly Clarkson

    4. Somebody That I Used To Know - Gotye

22? Christ, she's going the way of PCD, who had 24 on their deluxe edition. Which now makes me fear for the deluxe edition.

    >Elekible's implying that a boy band is "somewhat alternative" and not completely mainstream, pfffft

22 tracks? Jesus, that's too much. Even if she releases a deluxe version of Roman Reloaded and it contains some of those songs, the standard version would still be huge. I'm impressed that she wrote 22 songs in such a short amount of time, though. And while I don't want the album to flop, I do hope that she gets a wake up call one of these days and that she realizes that she's trying too hard.

    There you go.

...Seriously, when was it decided that British boy bands and KELLY CLARKSON were considered "alternative"?

Anyways, speaking of iTunes, I'm enjoying the entire Top 8 right now, which is astounding considering the US always manages to go out and mass buy one song I despise. "Wild Ones" (currently at #5) is actually the only Flo Rida song I don't dislike - mostly because Sia's the featuring artist - so I'm satisfied with it doing well. When the "We Are Young" insanity finally dies down, I can see it going #1.
