whats the difference if i just ev train a pokemon and not ev and iv?

Question : My friend was telling me that some pokemon don't get the full benefits of their EVs until level 100, but I was saying that it didn't matter since in flat battles (we were arguing about having to train a pokemon to level 100 before doing some battle subway and such) they adjust stats to a level 50 pokemon anyways.... So... Who is right and why? o.o

IVs can account for as much as 31 points in each of a Pokemon's stats at level 100, which is little less then half the amount you'd get from EVs, but the average Pokemon rarely ends up with even a single flawless IV, which where breeding comes in.

It's not as big of a benefit as EVs provide, but still enough to make the difference between winning or losing a battle, especially in regards to speed.

if youre looking for bulk then go hp before a particular defense, and the way to remove evs is with berries which are currently unreleased in europe as theyre only obtainable from dream world, and sorry theres no way to check for exact numbers of evs but if its over 100 evs then one berry brings it straight to that, if its lvl 100 try checking the serebii dex and comparing the max stats or something
also chandelure is an amazing special sweeper with 145 base so just sweeping might go better on it, and it can switch in on wow-ers and get a boost and usually 1hko depending on who it is :P

thx for the info. i do know for a fact that i put 6 HP ups into chandelure and 3 max speed ups(cabos) into it cuz i was still undecided. as for the other useless stats(atk/defense/etc) i have no idea how many EVs i got into. ive been training it since i first cout it in the tower at lvl 26 and its lvl 44 now. thats why i asked if there was a way to decrease EVs just incase i have EVs in places i dont want.

but i ya i decided i want to max out its HP and max out its special atk. i was considering speed mainly because i wanted to try and OHKO ppl by atking first. but looking at its base speed i know that wont really be possible since its speed will still be way to low.

also whats best way to get a pokemon to lvl 100? in other words a easy way out lol. farming rare candies?

I find exp share + League round two is pretty decent.

then when it gets to a higher level and can take most of the league on by itself, just do that.

Stats are pretty good,
Although it looks like your Sp.Atk has some EV's wasted on it
Atk isn't as high as it could be, do you know how many EV's you put into that?
And your speed is pretty good also.

In my opinion (Not sure how much it's worth :P) It's got good stats, but they're not perfect.
However, it's attack stat is pretty beastlike anyway. XD

If you're looking to use him competitively then he'll be outclassed, but for the main game he's delicious. Teach him Outrage and destroy the Battle Subway, lol.

for lvl 50 only half of 31 would be in the stat since its gradual i guess and i know evs are dished out differently in gen 5, but anyway you wouldnt need to train to lvl100 because it doesnt look at its stats, but its evs and ivs then calculates it for lvl50 so even if youd only lvled it to 20 and went battle subway then it would be the same as if you bothered to train to lvl 100

trainded my glaceon to 250 ev's in speed and currents have 40 ev's in sp att. should i keep going with sp att or put some on his other stats

152 will do. Just give the first 100 EVs in Vitamins.

naa full sp.att, and 252 speed evs not 250, then 4 in hp

and the feathers are limitless

okay so what is the best way to get a perfect iv? i have been trying to get good iv's on my Larvitar but i can't seem to get much more then all 20's been breeding it with a ditto because don't got an extra Larvitar

what about the larvitars you got from breeding with ditto? use those once you get both genders, unless your ditto has a perfect iv you want to pass on, breed around ten hatch them then take them to the judge, if he says it cant be better then its 31, once you get one stat youd want to get around to getting the power items, if they arent used then breeding is more just luck, if you get lucky and get a larvitar with the 2 ivs you want but not the nature, then give him a power item corresponding to one of the stats, breed until you get a gender opposite of the one you gave the power item, then take the power item and give it to the new larvitar, and then for the other iv give the power item to the original larvitar, then just wait till your nature comes up

theres no point shooting for more than 3 perfects IVs, and considering nature aswell, maybe aiming for 2 perfect with outstanding from judge and the nature you want would be a better idea, you can always check its other ivs to make sure it isnt too pitiful

Oh I know and I normally don't bother, but I lucked out on the SpD and Attack so I'm just going to go for it this once :P

EDIT: Just hatched one with a random defence IV... the hunt continues further complicated xD
