Do you use the Red Gyarados?

On my first time playing Heart Gold I used a Synchronize user to catch a Jolly shiny Gyarados who had 31 IVs in Speed and decent IVs on it's other stats (I think...)
Then I transfered my Gyarados to Platinum to EV train him. I used him in the Battle Frontier and some Wi-fi battles 8D

In my other playthroughs I got 2 Adamant shiny Gyarados. They have been sitting in the boxes forever, waiting for the day I'm not too lazy to EV train them.

If I ever play HG/SS for the 4th time I plan to actually use the shiny Gyarados in my in-game team.

I do indeed use the Red Gyarados in my SoulSilver game. I was planning to send it forward and have it learn Bounce in Black 2 or White 2, but I might just keep it in SoulSilver and breed a Moxie one instead with the Masuda Method.

No, I try to avoid using him because of the x4 type weakness. Plus I tend to carry my favorites with me.

You get it way too late in the game. Gyarados takes a lot to raise. My team is usually high 30's to low 40's by then and I dont like having my pokemon too far apart. For example my team are all 1-3 lvls apart at most. Before each gym leader I train them to all be the same lvl and at least 10 lvls higher than some of the gym leaders to overwhelm them. On top of that I only use 3 water types in the Johto games, Kingler (The one I use most), Tentacruel, or Feraligator.

I've never really seen a use for him. When I had the original Silver he was on my team. Otherwise he ferries me and my team across water and up great falls!

I don't really use him in battle. I do carry him around with my team sometimes though just because he's great to use just for HMs. All my red Gyarados knows are water HMs, which for me in Pokemon isn't uncommon. I tend to take a couple Pokemon, teach them nothing except HMs then just carry them around for that use until a gym battle or Elite Four battle comes around, then I get a better Pokemon from the PC.

Used him a lot after I'd caught him and was in my team that beat the Elite 4. Got left out when I changed my team around to head into Kanto though and now sits in the PC box, but will probably make a comeback one day

Unfortunately he is currently one my team as he is really the only one capable of going up against Claire in HG. The pain is getting him from 30-44....After I beat her he'll most likely go back into the PC

Yes. Not only because it's shiny, but because Gyarados is one of my favourite pokemon.
