That's an interesting pairing! Is there any particular reasoning behind it? I've always seen Lightning act more as an older sister to Hope than a lover. And you should start an FF club if there isn't one already!!! (:

Another pair I thought of are Ultimecia x Squall. Considering she could be Rinoa, as the game allows you to create your own interpretations on the story!

I dunno why I like Hope and Lightning...they just look so cute together ~
And Hope is like 24 in FF13-2, which is like almost the same age as Lightning (who's 21) so...it could work out ;D

Hope and Lightning are complimenting opposites.

Lightning was a "mindless, cold-blooded" soldier at the start. Without Hope to lead her to... humanity, she would have no doubt fallen along the way, even she can't deal with everything herself.
Hope was the helpless, regular, non-military experienced child who lost his mom (and his world, considering he didn't think much of his father). Lightning toughened him up to protect himself while providing him that protective environment.

And then Square Enix realises it (Hopurai is very popular in Japan, or so I heard), and tweaks them chronogically in XIII-2 so as to shut all those people who were saying Lightning was a "pedo" and so on. Lightning gets stranded where time stands still (and doesn't age) while Hope goes on as normal for 10 years.

And then SE pulls a fast one and denies us a reunion at the end of the game.

Comments:

They're mainly popular shippings, because I just like to stick with the ones most likely (?) to happen. Except for Dissidia. That's a load of BS right there because it will never happen, yet the interactions sorta made me vouch for them. I'm a huuuuuge fan of Rydia x Edge. It just clicks with me, ya know? I also really like Hope x Lightning, because SE is being a tease and dangling it, yet pulling it back when it gets too close. However, even if none of these are ever made canon, it won't bother me, since I'm not a hardcore shipper. It's just interesting and fun to pair up characters and see how they interact. Like an experiment of some sort.

I know, right?! Almost made me give up Snow x Serah completely!
