    Currently the list of species, going by Bulbapedia's numbering(only form is counted for all types):

    Water: 120->133

    Normal: 97->109

    Flying: 93->101

    Grass: 85->98

    Psychic: 75->85

    Bug: 66->77

    Fire: 59->67

    Ground: 61->65

    Poison: 59->64

    Rock: 55->59

    Fighting: 47->57

    Dark:46->54

    Electric: 42->51

    Steel: 42->51

    Fairy: 37->50

    Dragon: 41->48

    Ghost: 35->44

    Ice: 35->40

    It seems that Ice is officially the rarest type now, and Steel replaced Dragon as the "best" type.

    I find it interesting that they actually made a crown of thorns sea star.

    Toxapex (Mareanie) are the ones I am talking about. Obvious lack of the religious reference.

    Pokemon has always added obscure species. Most of the fossil Pokemon aren't ones you usually hear about

    Speaking of which, so far there's been only two generations without fossil Pokemon
    Favorite Generation: V
    Favorite Pokemon per generation:
    Favorite type: Water
    Favorite team: Plasma
    First shiny: (search) (random) Beast Trio (event), (SR) (Trade) (Chain)

    The crown-of-thorns sea star has gained particularly notoriety for being damaging to coral reef ecosystems. There used to be bounties to kill it (there may be some still around, I don't know).

    Gen I had well known ancient invertebrates. Gen V had popular "not dinosaurs". Gen VI had a T-rex.

    I'll give you Gen III and half of Gen VI.

    That is relatively interesting. I always thought fossil Pokemon were cool. I wish I could reanimate amonytes in real life.

    Anyone notice how Brock and Flint share a lot of similarities? Makes me wonder if they're related:
    * The naming convention is the same. They're both based of stony/rocky substances
    * They resemble one another in appearance
    * Flint has an Onix, which is treated often as his unofficial main Pokemon. Same as Brock

    So, Ghost, Fighting, Ground, Normal, Steel and Flying do not have moves with themselves as the first word.

    Bug has two.
    Dark has two.
    Fairy has two.
    Dragon has eight.
    Electric has one.
    Fire has six.
    Grass has three.
    Ice has seven.
    Poison has six.
    Psychic has three(none going by its Japanese name Esper).
    Water has six.
    Rock has six.

    Edit (15.12.16):
    Some random guesses:

    -Granbull is the only Pokémon used by Primo to have 120 Attack instead of 130.

    -Politoed, Dustox and Ledian are still waiting for their stat buffs.

    -HP, Sp. Def and Sp. Attack have no Pokémon with 5 base stat on them.

    Query for your guys: what would you rather prefer; Pokemon with more resistances, or less weaknesses?

    You have to trade for one or transfer it from an older game.

    I prefer less weaknesses. Using a Pokémon with few resistances is okay, but using something that's weak to nearly everything sucks.

    I was looking through one of my school history books today, and I found a map of a section of America interpreted by a man who came from England. The map had been drawn in the 1600s. Unfortunately I haven't been able to find the map online. What was weird about the map was that there was a sea creature in the bottom left corner that looked suspiciously like a Huntail. It even had the Gorebyss-shaped tail.

    It's not that active, but there is a thread for Pokemon Duel in the Spin-Off section of the forums. Here's a link. It's called the Comaster thread, but that's left over from before it came out in English.

    Join Ash and Pikachu as they travel to the Tenno Region, a region known for its advanced space program. Along their way towards the Tenno League and becoming a Pokémon Master they'll encounter new Pokémon, new enemies, such as the evil Team Planetary, and, of course, a certain trio of Team Rocket members, along with friends new and old.

    I'm here to nitpick on the lack of sexual dimorphism in the Lanturn-line. Lanturn is based on anglerfish, specifically the footballfish. First off, the males only grow up to 1.5 INCH. The females grow to become TWO FEET. YIKES! Second, the males of the footballfish don't develop the lure so common associated with the species. SO WHY DOES MALE LANTURN HAVE THAT, AND WHY ARE THEY STILL THE ELECTRIC-TYPE? Thirdly, upon maturity, males undergo metamorphosis (sounds like evolution!) into a parasitic form - and attach themselves to females, and aside from their reproductive glands, they shrivel up and live off the females blood.

    Male Lanturn should just not be a thing, and Lanturn as we know it should be female only. Male Chinchou however could still evolve into a more shriveled up parasitic form with huge reproductive glands and no Electric-typing.

    I'm just thinking about how such a relationship could be beneficial in a pokémon battle if one were to use female only Lanturn and male only Chinchou evolution in a double battle. The male would suck blood (HP) to sustain itself, quite similar I'd reckon to Leech Seed. But considering how the males are small and basically only good for reproduction purposes, how could this become a beneficial strategy/ability? I wouldn't think the male would be very strong, nor tanky. Maybe it could function as a form of Life Orb? It sucks HP from the female Lanturn, but grants a significant boost to the female Lanturn's offense - while the female Lanturn could still hold an item of her own choosing and have either Volt Absorb/Water Absorb as her own abilities?

    Or if male equivalent of Lanturn should just not exist, should female only Lanturn get a healing move similar to what Vespiquen has - in a sense absorbing the proteins from the male reproductive glands would give her more sustainability aka a HP-recovery move?
    Answer to all the bad things in the world: Give up on trying to make everything better. Hence, accepting it for what it is. YOLO! <- Click the link and daw.. -.-

    "If I had my way in DP, Ash would've hit the league with: Pikachu, Ambipom (his to keep), Torterra (Grass/Starter), Lucario (Ace), Chingling (Cute), Bidoof (Water-type) and Heatran (Fire-type)."

        Spoiler:- GenVII Starter names speculation:

    The second line is meant to be sarcastic.. Though there was a random trainer with a Heatran at the Sinnoh League..

    Here's the thing, Lanturn is not a football fish, Lanturn is a Lanturn. It is inspired by a football fish, but that does not mean it literally is a football fish and should follow ever little detail about its real world counterpart. Beyond that, look to Sawsbuck, Stantler, Heracross, Mamoswine, Walrein, Bouffalant, etc. There is no shortage of Pokemon with obvious sexual dimorphic features in their real-world counterparts that are not represented in their designs.

    yes i have always wondered a similar things in regards to the machop line. why don't female machoke and machamp look more like models, or even female body builders. i mean it doesn't make any sense to have a Pokémon line that is based on a male wrestler, a human conception to have no sexual dimorphism. because female wrestlers do exist.
