    the Hoenn city theme is nature...mostly minerals and plants though...

    Petalburg...petal of a flower
    oldale...a dale is like a valley
    lavaridge...lava from a volcano
    fortree...a tree
    mossdeep...moss
    littleroot...roots of plants
    rustboro...rust is what steel becomes when subject to nature
    verdanturf...verdant means lush and green, usually used to describe plants
    fallarbor...arbor day, a day to give back to nature by planting trees, also, arbol is tree in Spanish
    lillycove...lilly, a kind of flower
    pacifidlog...log as in a piece of wood...pacific ocean also fits
    mauville...mauve is a color similar to lavender which is also a kind of flower
    slateport...slate is a kind of naturally occurring rock
    sootopolis...soot are volcanic ashes that have collected on the ground
    dewford...dew is water formed via condensation on plants in nature

    and for those wondering about johto, all the names are a combo of a color and a plant or plant part...or just one or the other or both in one

    new bark: Bark is part of a tree
    cherrygrove: a cherry grove is an actual thing relating to plants but cherry is also a shade of red and a grove can refer to all trees
    violet: there is a color violet and there is a flower called a violet
    azalea: it's a type of flower but the az can refer to azure which is a shade of blue
    goldenrod: both a kind of plant and a color
    ecruteak: ecru is a beige color and teak is kind of tree
    olivine: olive is both a color and a plant part, vine is just a plant part
    cianwood: Cyan is a bluish green color, wood comes from trees
    mahogany: both a reddish brown color and a type of wood which comes from trees
    blackthorn: black is a color, thorn is a plant part

    also, kanto is colors, sinnoh is all over the place but in general has a theme of completeness in the universe and human society, and unova has a cloud (or heavans) theme...
