Good AND Bad Luck Moments in Pokemon

Bad: Critical hit shiny Gastrodon with Wailord's Waterall, knocking it out. Then the game froze. :P

Bad luck time!

I had bought over 100 ultra balls in preparation for catching Ho-Oh in Heartgold. I literally used every single one, and all of my other Poke balls, except my Master ball, which I refused to use, I actually ended up starting over my game because I was so frustrated. (Ho-Oh was at like 1Hp)

Bad luck: used 79 ultra balls on a 1hp, paralyzed articuno. After using 50+ I was going to restart the battle but figured it would be better to just catch it and buy more later.

Good luck: was looking for a Heatmor in Black 2 (5% chance of encounter) at Twist Mountain, after about 10 minutes of battling Boldores I ran into Cryogonal (5% chance of encounter at the time) which I hadn't even been looking for yet! Another 10 or so minutes yielded me a Heatmor so I had a double win on that trip.

Good: Catching Victini w/ one Great Ball. It was only later that I found out it had an insanely low catch rate.

Bad: 5 generations. Over 9,000 encounters. (Quite a few eggs hatched, too) No shinies. ; 3;

Catching that damn runaway Cresselia in Diamond in the first encounter. Unfortunately, I wasn't as lucky in Platinum, I probably used over 30 quick balls before I finally caught it.

Good luck: In my black 2, when I was catching Latios (It was my first time trying to catch it), I threw 1 great ball (No critical capture) and it was caught

Bad luck: an asleep, 1hp Mewtwo lv70, used 87 ultra balls, 103 great balls, 10 timer balls, 1 quick ball. Fainted all my pokemon

I once caught a shiny Slowpoke in LeafGreen's Safari Zone. It could have escaped, with its base capture rate of 37% there. Then again, it didn't count: I was using an emulator and had to option to reload from the point of encounter if anything bad happened.

I then caught a shiny Graveler in Platinum. This could have ended badly: the last Graveler I met (non-shiny) exploded on my face at turn 2. I ended up catching that thing with an Ultra Ball when I should have used a Repeat Ball.

I caught a large group of Cryogonals by using the Repel trick. Thank Arceus that Cryogonals are the highest-leveled there and for Repels.

i had an instance in a tournament double battle where the opponent used heat wave and then blizzard, and my team doged all attacks.
i also found a shiny poochyena in my ruby version on a whim and caught it.

Ok, so this happened to me late last night. A real example of both good AND bad luck. I was in the middle of another session of my Platinum Wedlocke (Nuzlocke variant) and my Eevee was facing an NPC's Togepi. Togepi's Metronome had already scored a lucky hit by calling Mega Punch. Eevee's HP was nearly into the Yellow Zone. I knew I could take it out if Eevee could just tank another hit. I honestly couldn't believe what happened next.

"The foe's TOGEPI used Metronome!" Ok, I thought, as long as it doesn't pull something lucky out of nowhere, I should be fine. Just don't use anything crazy, like Aura Sphere.

"The foe's TOGEPI used Aura Sphere!" I had to bite my lip to stop myself from screaming. Out of all 467 moves in Generation IV, Togepi chose that one. And I had called it.

And as if THAT weren't enough, Eevee actually managed to survive the hit! He survived with 2 HP left. Like a boss. I went on the win the battle, of course, but something like this just doesn't happen every day.

A good luck moment was randomly catching a shiny Geodude in Platinum.
The bad luck was that it was about level three, so it was pretty useless to me.

Grinding away in the Safari Zone, trying to get a murkrow. Doesn't want to get in the ball at all, and when I finally find one that seemingly wants to get in, what happens? Its my last ball, the Murkrow's shiny, and it breaks free after 3 ****ING shakes. I swear that the games out to get me.

Fun little mechanic that causes quite a bit of bad luck: The games aren't waterproof.

Bad luck in Black 2, caught Latios (yay) and... it was Careful! FUUUUUUUU...

Well, at least I finally caught a Latios in all my history of playing Pokemon but that Careful nature had to bite me back.

Also, another bad luck, getting a female Snorlax from Curtis but sadly she was Modest.

Good luck: finding a shiny Geodude in the Ruins of Alph in HG.
Bad luck: Not knowing about shiny Pokemon at the time, I found I couldn't beat the first gym(I chose Chikorita) and restarted and chose Cyndaquil. When I went back to the Ruins of Alph, I expected to find he same Geodude... Boy, was I wrong. with me being at quite a young age and still fairly new to Pokemon, I demanded that the game gave back my Geodude-to no avail. I learned about shiny Pokemon a week later, when I told my friends and I didn't play HG for two days. which as a really long time for me.
