I think i'm gonna watch the pro bowl. I love scoring fests. I wish I could predict the giants to win the super bowl, but I said the patriots would win before the season started, so it's a bit late to change now. Go pats.

But the Super Bowl is stupid.

They talk about the NFL all of the time. It's sad because they're pandering to the viewers and apparently viewers like regurgitated topics week after week, day after day. At least they have an excuse this time around.

Why do you think so? I think it's epic. Except for the halftime show.

It's so over-hyped that it rarely lives up to the actual hype. It's boring.

Almost every super bowl I can think of has been close until late into the fourth quarter. Plus, this year is bound to be a shootout. Brady vs Manning.

Just because a game is close doesn't mean it's exciting.

Yes it does. Big blowout's usually aren't exiting because there isn't any competition. Close games mean more tension, more suspense, and more excitement.

Example: Alabama vs LSU in the regular season this year. Close? Yes. Exciting? Enjoyable? Nope.

Because there were no touchdowns. Every super bowl in history(i think) has had at least one touchdown, and all the recent ones have had several. Here's a formula for excitement: Touchdowns + Close Game= Excitement

They could've scored one touchdown each and it would've had the same level of excitement. I don't understand why you're trying to convince me that it's exciting when I don't find it that way. You can continue if you wish but my answer will always be that it's an overrated piece of crap.

Regardless, I debunked your "close = good" argument so it doesn't matter.

Well, you're entitled to your own opinion, so whatever. Just remember that Excitement=Close Game+Touchdowns. Oh, and I think if Alabama and LSU both scored a touchdown, the game would have been a lot more exciting.

I second this. If you hate the super bowl you do NOT DESERVE TO BE AN AMERICAN. Ask 100 people from the street anywhere and 99 of them will say that they are going to the super bowl.

bawww rebecca hates the super bowl because she doesn't think it meets her expectations bawww

lmao stop whining or put me on your ignore list.

edit: btw, only 90-100 million Americans watch the Super Bowl. Going by your logic, more than half of all Americans don't deserve to be Americans. lol So yeah, most aren't going to be watching the Super Bowl.

You didn't really debunk it, all you said was that it wasn't exciting, most people really enjoyed that game. In fact the most hyped regular season matchups are often Ravens v.s Steelers and the score is usually low for an NFL game, most people find close games to be exciting.

I mean its simple logic, I don't like Justin Bieber, so I don't join his fanclub.

That's not counting children, and such. The number is probably closer to 175 million.

His original point was that a close game is an exciting game. I proved that was false and as a result that argument was proven false. Many games end up being close in the regular season but you'd be lying if you thought most of them were exciting.

I mean its simple logic, I don't like Justin Bieber, so I don't join his fanclub.
So because I don't think that Super Bowl lives up to it's hype I can't post in the "NFL/NCAA thread"? Using logic, you don't need to be a fan of both to post here. There are people who are fans of NCAA football but hate the BCS bowl system? Should they not post in a dedicated NCAA football thread because they hate the bowl system and think it's stupid? Nope, I didn't think so.

You can't just say "it's probably closer to ### because it doesn't count children" if you have no evidence to support how you get to that number. When people are talking about television ratings, they don't round up to because people might not be counted. They use that number because that was the number measured by the Nielsen ratings system.

You don't seem to enjoy football in general, Rebecca. You shouldn't post here if you don't like it, because you're bound to get into pointless arguments. I don't watch/care about basketball, and I don't post in the NBA thread.

What is everyone's favorite NFL theme song in regards to TV coverage? Personally, I like the Monday Night Football theme, especially the 1989 version.

Whatever. Obviously, people here would rather discuss topics with people who simply like the game instead of discussing things with people who can actually understand it. No probs I'll leave. (b'.')b
