I've taken up a Poison monotype on FireRed, so I've got a few options to pick from for my team, though you'll have to wait and see to find out which ones I made.

Obviously, my choice of starter was Bulbasaur, so I already have one member of my final team. I named my rival 'Justin' by the way, because I feel like kicking Justin Bieber's backside on a regular basis. The journey up to Pewter City was simple, Leech Seed then Tackle every trainer that stands in my way, until Leech Seed ran out of PP, then it was Tackle or Vine Whip opponents into submission. Upon actually reaching Pewter City, things were even easier, the trainer in the gym and Brock fell to 3 Vine Whips - one for each Pokemon. As a result of all this, Bulbasaur is currently level 15, and when I resume, I shall be heading out towards Mt. Moon and the challenges that lie beyond.

I like Drummerdude's presentation of his posts, so I think I'll adopt the same style, it makes it all very neat and quite pretty.

Rock Tunnel was difficult for my two Electric Pokemon. I was constantly having to leave and heal because it seemed like every trainer had a Cubone, Geodude, or Graveler. I did manage to level up both Voltorb and Pikachu a lot though during my trek through the cave. Eventually I was outside and in Lavender Town. I immediately went west towards Celadon while trying to skip every trainer.

When I arrived in Celadon the first thing I did was go grab the Eevee. I then went and bought a few Thunderstones and I decided to use one on Pikachu. I headed back to Lavender Town so I could defeat all of the trainers I had skipped. During that training Voltorb evolved! When every trainer was defeated I headed back to Celadon to take on the Rockets in their hideout. Eevee grew to Lv30 and learned Bite so I decided to evolve it into Jolteon! I made my way through the hideout defeating every Rocket member for some experience for my Electric types. Soon I was face to face with Giovanni, the leader of Team Rocket. Jolteon took out Onix with a few bites, Raichu defeated Rhyhorn with Dig, and Electrode Spark'd Kangaskhan until it was knocked out. He left behind a Silph Scope so I picked it up and took a break.

So, Mt. Moon, the next dungeon in my path, looms closer. I fought the fewest number of trainers possible, and Bulbasaur evolved into Ivysaure before I captured a male Nidoran at the foot of the mountain. I trained him around the grassy patches, and eventually on the remaining trainers between Pewter City and Mt. Moon. Once he was about level 13, I embarked on my exploration of Mt. Moon with my trusted partners.

Inside I encountered a Zubat, and contrary to what you are all thinking now, I did not capture it, as it does not feature in my plans. The girl with the clefairys near the entrance got a nasty critical hit on Nidoran that meant I had to exit Mt. Moon to recover, but that incident aside, I went through Mt. Moon in one go without having to recover. Nidoran evolved into Nidorino during my passage, and together with Ivysaur, he swept aside Team Rocket and the various trainers within the cave with great ease. I also picked up a Moon Stone ready to use on Nidorino in the near future.

I left Mt. Moon and was a bit annoyed that Nidorino couldn't learn Mega Kick, but I proceeded to Cerulean City to heal up before going back towards Mt. Moon to an enclosed grassy area where I captured my next team member - Ekans. Ekans was then trained in this same grassy area until he reached level 16, which is where I have left my adventure for now, waiting to smash Justin's face on Nugget Bridge and continue onwards.

I finally talked to Wallace, and we began to battle against each other. He sent out his Luvdisc, and I used my Tropius. I was able to defeat Wallace's Luvdisc using just Magical Leaf, then I switched to Breloom when he sent out his Sealeo. I had Breloom use Mach Punch, and when that wasn't enough to defeat Sealeo, I had it use Sky Uppercut. Sealeo finally fainted, and I used my Cacturne against Wallace's Seaking. I was able to defeat it easily with Needle Arm, but then Wallace sent out his Milotic, so I used Sceptile. I defeated Milotic with a critical hit Leaf Blade attack, then only Wallace's Whiscash was left. I used Ludicolo against it, and I defeated Whiscash with Giga Drain. I defeated Wallace, and he gave me the Rain Badge and the Water Pulse TM.

    Current team:

    - Sceptile level 47
    - Ludicolo level 45
    - Breloom level 44
    - Cacturne level 44
    - Tropius level 44
    - Cradily level 42

I successfully kicked Justin's backside, before doing the same to every trainer on Nugget Bridge. The route beyond proved to be very useful training for Ekans and Nidorino, who were a couple of levels behind Ivysaur at this point. I entered Bill's abode at the end of the route to steal his ticket for the SS Anne, and headed back to Cerulean to challenge Misty - not that it was at all challenging, Ivysaur gave her a thorough beating.

With Misty beaten, and the Rocket in the backyard defeated, my next direction of travel was south to Vermilion. Along this route, Nidorino reached level 22, my designated point for using the Moon Stone, so he has now evolved into Nidoking, who will surely prove to be a powerful force on my side for the next little while. I boarded the SS Anne with my ticket, and Ekans evolved into Arbok whilst training on board the ship. Once again, I encountered Justin, and took great pleasure in wiping the floor with him for the second time in this play session. I would like to add here that his Raticate will no longer appear because my Arbok probably ate him. I received Cut from the captain and watched the SS Anne sail off before deciding to call time on the game for now.

Flying always works for these. Poison is usually pretty good. Grass and WAter both work better on Sapph and Em, cause of Ludi, but both are still viable, particularly water.

If you want an easier play through, do water or Flying. Poison, Grass and Normal all work well too though, and rock works, but can be challenging.

With confetti being streamed from the SS Anne as it departed, I headed over to the Vermilion City gym to challenge Lt. Surge for his ThunderBadge, another easy accomplishment. Arbok took care of Pikachu and Voltorb before Nidoking beat down Raichu.

My next destination was the Rock Tunnel, which is really annoying without Flash, though having Flash on a Pokemon is annoying - so it was a case of the lesser of two evils. I found my way through though, and my team was very capable of defeating all who stood in our way. Once I was out, I avoided all but one trainer on the way to Celadon City, so I could leave them as training for my next capture.

In Celadon, I received Eevee from the karate guy upstairs, and bought a Water Stone to evolve it into Vaporeon for surfing purposes. I paid a visit to the Game Corner, where there was a Rocket touching himself by the poster (what else would he be doing in a corner all day?) I made quicker work of him than he could of himself and followed him into the Rocket Hideout. I was nearing level 30 with all of my Pokemon when I started, so this really was a cakewalk. It soon came time to battle Giovanni though, and Ivysaur disposed of his rock types while Nidoking went toe-to-toe with Kangaskhan, and came out on top.

I picked up the Silph Scope and headed over to Pokemon Tower, where my next encounter with the Bieb awaited. The battle was too easy, and I took great pleasure in spanking him with such ease, with Ivysaur evolving into Venusaur in the process. Once he left, I went upstairs to make my next capture - Gastly. Due to his significantly lower level, I trained him on the trainers between Rock Tunnel and Celadon City, which was enough to elevate him to level 25, and therefore evolve into Haunter. That is where I have left my progress for now, about to ascend Pokemon Tower.

My team and I headed back to Lavender Town and entered the Pokemon Tower. I defeated my rival quite easily with my overleveled team and then headed upstairs. The channelers proved to be good experience for my Jolteon because one Bite took out every Pokemon I faced. I climbed all the floors and calmed down the Marowak before discovering Team Rocket. Electrode defeated the three members and soon Mr Fugi was giving me a Poke Flute. I headed back to Celadon soon after.

The Celadon Gym was my next destination. I entered the gym and discovered all the women!!!! The girls proved difficult because of their constant use of status moves which made me run heal after almost every battle. Soon they were all defeated and it was time for Erika. And may I just say.......PokeTrainerJay was almost right. Erika certainly was difficult annoying. Electrode started off against Victreebel. She kept healing the freaking plant which just made the battle last forever. Plus Victreebel had 3 critical hits which is always annoying. But I stalled the battle and pulled an upset victory. She used Tangela next so I used Jolteon who used Bite and knocked it out. Next was Vileplume vs Raichu. Raichu just kept blasting Thunderbolt and Vileplume eventually fell. I am halfway done!

I healed my team and defeated the random Snorlax before heading down Cycling Road. I managed to avoid all trainer battles on the Cycling Road. Soon I was in Fushcia City so I went to the Safari Zone and took a break.

I left the Sootopolis City Gym, and I Surfed towards the other side of the city. I healed my Pokemon at the local Pokemon Center there, then I went to explore the various houses around town, since I had neglected to do that before. I picked up some items, then I decided that I should set sail for Pacifidlog Town next. I used Dive to go underwater again, and I resurfaced in the sea route around Sootopolis City. I Surfed around, and I encountered some trainers that I hadn't battled before. I defeated them, then I headed south. I then turned west, and I met even more trainers in that area. I battled against all of them, and then I eventually reached Pacifidlog Town. I had to heal my Pokemon at the Pokemon Center since they were injured, then I talked to the people around the town.

I'm glad you enjoy reading my challenge ^.^ now back into character..

So, Pokemon Tower was looming over me, and I was about to discover it's secrets. Haunter was more than capable of taking out each of the Channellers with one Shadow Punch for each Gastly/Haunter, so progress up the tower was swift. I soon found out that some of the Channellers here were actually medical patients, one was psychiatric: "Zombies!" she screamed at me. Two others seemed to have been involved in car accidents, one pleaded with me "give...me...blood", so her blood transfusion is clearly running a bit late, while another stated after our battle that "something fell out", which I am presuming to be her kidney. Unfortunately for her I was not willing to part with mine, so I continued to lay Marowak's spirit to rest with Venusaur. There were a few Rockets on the top floor kicking an old man, so I chased them off and rescued the poor fellow, only to find out he was a paedophile, taking me back to his home.

I regained consciousness a short while later, not knowing what happened, but he obviously felt bad about it, so he gave me his flute. Flute in hand, I proceeded south of Lavender Town, avoiding all of the fishermen, and I awakened Snorlax, the slovenly beast. I couldn't be bothered to battle him, so I just let him be on his way, before I ventured further south to capture Venonat. The route east of Vermilion City provided suitable training for my new capture, as well as the fishermen I had previously avoided.

I felt the time was right to go to Celadon City to challenge for my 4th badge, so I proceeded to do so, and found that an old man was leering into the gym. I scoffed that he was a desperate perv who needed a girlfriend, before realising that I myself do not have one, so cannot really talk - not that I'm a perv. Venonat easily dealt with all the trainers, though the one with the Exeggcute managed to knock out Venonat and Haunter, thanks to a bit of Hypnosis haxing. Haunter obliterated Erika's Vileplume and Victreebel with Dream Eater, while Venonat took on Tangela with Poisonpowder and Leech Life - resulting in her evolution to Venomoth after the battle.

I gave Tea to the guards so that I can now pass through Saffron for quicker travel - one cup of tea for 4 guards though? I couldn't share a cup of tea with 3 other people - before proceeding down the route south of Lavender towards Fuchsia. Seriously, this route is so long. I mean, so, so long. The number of trainers gets a bit tiresome after a while, but I persevered, and eventually arrived at my destination. I am now stood outside the Fuchsia Gym, ready to test my claim as Poison master against the ninja himself.

Hey Everyone! I started a Fire mono-type on Leaf Green on the other thread. I was at the Elite 4 last time, but hit a brick wall at Lance, as his Aerodactyl was just impossible to take down. However, I have recently beat him and will update to finish my Fire mono very soon.
    My team was:

    Volcano (Charizard)
    Fiera (Arcanine)
    Ember (Ninetales)
    Flicker (Flareon)
    Solita (Rapidash)
    Larva (Magmar)

I entered the Safari Zone and ran all the way to end and grabbed the Gold Teeth and the Surf HM. I gave the Gold Teeth to the Warden and got the Strength HM. Then I went to the gym. The trainers Psychic Pokemon were good training for Jolteon while the Poison and Ground types were battled by Raichu and Electrode. After they were all defeated I was face to face with Koga and the battle commenced. Jolteon started with Shock Wave and took out Koffing in two turns. Electrode spammed Spark until Muk was out and Jolteon came back in and defeated his second Koffing. Raichu was then sent in against Weezing and it only took two Thunderbolt's to knock it. I got the badge and fished up a water type Pokemon before leaving for Route 10.

I used Surf near Rock Tunnel and went down to the Power Plant. I spent some time running around inside the Power Plant in order to capture my next team members. The first one I found was a Magneton which was an easy capture. Next was Electabuzz who proved more difficult to capture but more difficult to find. I ran all the way to the end of the Power Plant and found the Legendary Pokemon Zapdos. I spent forever trying to capture it and after a few resets I finally did. I left the Power Plant and went to Lavender Town to begin training my Magneton and Electabuzz against the fishermen. I kept going south until I arrived at the sleeping Snorlax which was soon defeated. I went to Fushcia after this and took a break before heading west and fighting all the trainers for experience.

I don't really plan on using Zapdos, it's more of a last resort.

@Shiny Espeon, You're doing the same mono as me (but further) and I take it you are able to trade from FR as you have Arcanine.

Yep, I'm done now and I'll report back my E4 fights in a bit. The hardest part was Lance and my Rival's Blastoise. I could trade, yes - I'm guessing you can't trade. Good Luck!

I've looked back at my games and I've realized I've got a Bug mono on Fire Red that was only just after the 1st badge. So I'm going to continue that soon.

Anyway, final Fire mono-type update coming up!

I entered the gym, and the gym trainers were higher levelled than I thought they would be, but I still managed to defeat them all without any problems, but thought it best to wait a while before I challenged Koga, rather than get humiliated. As a result, I headed west out of Fuchsia City and gave myself a workout by cycling up cycling road, defeating all the trainers along the way - one thing I'm realising is that a major perk of a Poison mono is that I don't have to worry about being poisoned ^-^

When I reached the top, I figured a little more training was needed, so I went to Saffron City to the Fighting Dojo and blitzed the place, so I kinda felt sorry for them. To show my condolences, I didn't take either of their Pokemon, and I left the building quietly, deciding it was time to return to Fuchsia.

Seeing as I was already out and about though, I thought it a good time to go to the Safari Zone and retrieve the Golden Teeth and HM03. Because I was rushing so much and button smashing, I accidentally captured a Paras, so Vaporeon now has a companion in the box! Reaching the end wasn't at all difficult, so I now have Surf and the Golden Teeth.

The battle between Koga and I finally took place, and it wasn't really an epic spectacle. After his first Koffing decided to blow up in Arbok's face - not a fatal attack though - I decided to just use Venomoth's Psybeam to sweep the lot, which worked a treat, making me the official Poison master of Kanto..now I just need the ninja garb! After our battle I went for a quick swim and caught my final party member, a level 30 Tentacool, which I am now training on the swimmers south of Fuchsia, and it has already evolved into Tentacruel. Next up will be Silph Co. once I finish this training.

There wasn't much to do around Pacifidlog Town, so I Surfed west, and I made my way towards Slateport City. I had to travel through the currents in the area, but it was fun to ride around. I battled some trainers who were stranded on the rocks, then I continued to coast all the way to Slateport City. Once I had arrived in Slateport City, I made my way north towards Mauville City. I rode on Cycling Road, and once I was in Mauville City, I went west. I checked to see if my Roselia had leveled up, but it still wasn't at a high level, so I decided to leave it there. I then flew to Mossdeep City, and I bought some items at the Poke Mart. I used a Max Repel, and then I Surfed south as I made my way towards Evergrande City and the Pokemon League headquarters.

The training didn't take too long, as I had soon reached the Seafoam Islands. With no trainers left to battle, I headed over to Silph Co. to begin my crusade. I began by climbing each floor individually and battling all of the Rockets and Scientists, which meant that by the time I had done all 11 floors, every member of my team had reached level 40. I then went back to get the card key and battle the few remaining foes, before finding and battling my arch nemesis - Justin Bieber.

As usual, I was far too powerful for him, and swept him aside with great ease, just matching up type advantages. Next, Giovanni awaited me inside the President's office. I decided to show him how powerful his Nidorino could be by thrashing it (quite literally) with my Nidoking, while Haunter took on Kangaskhan, Venusaur beat Rhyhorn and Tentacruel drowned Nidoqueen - this was too easy.

However, one of my more challenging gyms now awaited me - Sabrina. Every one of my Pokemon has a weakness to Psychic, but I reckoned Haunter would be crucial if I could level him enough to learn Shadow Ball. I couldn't. After all the trainers, he was still one level short, and I wasn't going to fanny about looking for trainers, so I braced myself and just went for it. Tentacruel opened proceedings, having a high Special Defense, and managed to take out Kadabra before Mr. Mime killed her with a Psybeam. I bought out Arbok next to get a quick Bite in on Mr. Mime and finish it off, before Alakazam was released. I went for power at first, sending out my Nidoking, who was immediately OHKO'ed by a Psychic. I chose Venusaur to replace him, who got in a Leech Seed while Zam Calm Minded, and then took me out with a Psychic. Haunter was up next, and Zam kept using Calm Mind while Leech Seed drained him and I tried to land a Hypnosis - 3rd time lucky, and a single Shadow Punch saw him off, leaving Venomoth to take out Sabrina's Venomoth with two Psybeams.

Next up then, Blaine and Cinnabar Island.

So, here we go, its the final update of my long, but fun Fire mono-type on LeafGreen. It has been tough finish, but Fire is possibly the hardest mono-type, so I suppose that's understandable. After I've reported back my E4 battles, I will re-continue my Bug mono-type which was shortly after Brock. Just to remind you, my team was:

    Volcano (Charizard)
    Fiera (Arcanine)
    Ember (Ninetales)
    Flicker (Flareon)
    Solita (Rapidash)
    Larva (Magmar)

For those interested, my last update was: http://www.serebiiforums.com/showthr...2#post11281572

So here are my E4 battles - Enjoy!

Well, if you can make it through all of that, I am impressed. That's the official end of Fire challenge, but don't worry, I will be posting updates on my Bug mono-type which has just started - See you soon!
