Hmmm...and now you've given me an idea. Emerald features the (indirect) conflict between the sea and the land, and where the sea and land meet is the coast.
Most water types would be eligible of course. Besides that though, I can see Geodude, Nosepass, Grimer, Sandshrew, Lileep, Anorith, and Castform as candidates.
Picking my own I think. I'm open to suggestions, but I want to keep the 'aesthetic' of the theme, and not make it practically a mono-water run. At the moment I'm looking at Swampert (the wetlands), Sandslash (the beach), Graveler (the cliffs), Cradily (the fossils), and Muk (the pollution), with a space for a HM mule. Thinking about movesets now.
typically HM slave are not included in challenge considerations....
so go ahead and pick another one
and sandslash is hardly a "beach" pokemon, try pelipper or corsola or stamie

Pelipper is provisionally in, the planned team is up in the RMT section. Corsola could fit, as the reef, but I don't really want to run a squad (gonna have enough levelling to do with breeding as it is) so it becomes a case of who to drop.

Metalhead, I'll start you out with Fire/Fighting in the form of your starter: take a Torchic that evolves into the dual-typed Combusken and Blaziken.
Metalhead, take a Lotad for Water/Grass.

Metalhead for Normal/Flying take a Doduo. To evolve it has to use Tri Attack to cause a freeze, a paralysis and a burn.
(no other combination really for Normal)
Metalhead9838772, for Bug/Poison, take a Dustox. It may evolve freely, but it must keep Moonlight and Whirlwind in its moveset.
Thanks guys, but I still need one last Pokemon. You decide who it will be, but can't be any of the types I already have (example: I have a Ludicolo and a Dodrio (Grass/Water and Normal/Flying). This means I can't have a Tropius.)

I didn't hear about Nuzlockes and other challenges until a while ago, but i've been toying with ideas. My first was something like a 'Contestlocke,' that involved 'mon and contests (because I LOOOVE Gen III contests), but my Emerald is fried (internal clock is busted, save data is fine) and i've lost my copies of Ruby and Sapphire (i'm not an emulator kinda girl). Also, while I prefer Emerald, contests don't come up until later in the game, but R/S contests come up a little earlier.
I was thinking something really dumb like "can't use it in battle until it wins Master Rank contests," but that makes no sense.
Or "if it loses a contest, then you box/release it forever," but honestly contests are sometimes just totally random.
Pretty much, something that involves contests, and preferably a Roselia and a Milotic thrown in.
Alternative, only "beautiful"/"ugly" pokemon allowed.
I'm starting an egg run on my Sapphire.
1a- I may only use the 6 pokemon hatched from the eggs I receive .
1b- HM slaves are only allowed if no one on my team can learn a particular HM.
2- No grinding.
3- I may not purchase items.
With no grinding, I'm sort of just flying through the game o.O
Roxanne wiped me once, but I managed to kill her the second time.
Brawly I got on my first try. To be fair, Scyther was born with Wing Attack, which really helped.

Egg run part 2:
Mauville gym took a while because of that evil Magneton >.< Luckily, when I had originally bred these I had put some crazy moves on them. Dratini and Kangaskhan had Flamethrower, so it was much easier than it could have been.

I wanna do one of these for Ruby. The theme is going to be food, so you're gonna have to explain why the Pokemon you give fits in with the food. I can't trade, no type overlaps, and I'd like a starter. And all Pokemon need a food nickname.

Too Funk to Druck, take a Torchic. Food-related because it is based on a chicken/bird/something, obviously. Name it FriedCucco. It can evolve into Combusken freely but must solo three swimmers before evolving into Blaziken.
Too Funk to Druck, help yourself to a nice big serving of PorkChopz the Grumpig. In keeping with its name, PorkChopz must know at least one Fighting type move.
