Hi everyone, sorry for inactivity lately but i was pretty busy with work and other responsibilities which come with real life.

To answer question, even though its late reply:
To minerswhocraft: Oh you mean Misty return at Pallet reunion? Yeah i know how you feel. Even though i enjoyed seeing Misty again having some cool moments there. Teasing Ash, being smartass, showing her independence and strength in knowing where to find shelter, cure sick Pikachu with Azurill(which i found pretty sweet). And having bonding moments with Max with her panic fear and irrationality when bugs are in question bringing them into even bigger problems.

But in end things working out for them with Max admiring Misty toughness and knowledge, acting like older sister to him. Sharing with each other problems and frustration when dealing with older siblings helping Max to better understa May and solidify brother bond he had with her.

There Misty once again revealed complexity and depth behind her characterization reacting in pallete of different ways depending on situation. How aside from being feisty, grumpy and sassy(showed plenty of those in Togepi release cameo and Mastermind of Mirage special). Bubbly and silly, she can also be very compassionate and understanding reassuring others to believe more in themselves or being willing to listen to their problems helping them out.

Demonstrating once again how versatile and rich aspect of her personality there exists, depending on people she interacts with, circumstances and surrounding.

    So that much i liked.

But what disappointed me was rather lukewarm reception of Misty. With Pallet reunion coming of as very rushed and quickly patched together product lasting for just one episode, just to send Misty afterwards away in Real Cleffa Hanger.

She left way too early and should have joined Ash, May , Max and Brock for Battle Frontier. We could see her battle, enter tournaments advancing her water master dream, meet powerful trainers an water users who could teach her how to discover secrets of water pokemon coming to understand their nature better.

While enriching on group dynamic with her strong attitude, endearing quirks and headstrong nature knowing how to bring excitement among others. I mean i would take her over Max or Brock there.

But nope, writers during whole Cleffa episode had Misty older sisters calling her back and rushing home, much to Misty dismay and frustration. Delaying coming back and feeling upset over not being able to count on them to leave and travel when she wants.

Second return of Misty was short and rushed getting 2 measly episodes, when there existed potential in Battle Frontier to do many cool things with character. Give chance to get better know May building on stronger friendship between themselves and maybe even do small detour on Sevii islands to meet Misty idol Lorelei again which would likely make her squeal brimming with insecurity and excitement.

Having her lifepath and career go in direction of working in becoming E4 member of water pokemon herself serving as huge step in quest of mastering water pokemon. With her inclusion better signalizing Ash return to homeland region since she lives there and traveled with him at some point through this region. Ideal way to promote FRLG remakes on more meaningful way.

Well there is still way to include Misty to play important role in anime again through mega Gyarados promotion, meeting E4 Siebold who is even more significant to her water master dream because of being water master himself in games and first true water trainer of E4. Offering gates toward some really cool storyline to reintroduce Misty, enjoy in her enjoyable personality, packed with action, battles, possible struggles of fearing she wouldn't be able to impress E4 user etc.

But something tells me its unavailing job to even hope for this. Although its comforting to hear how Misty Japanese voice actor Mayumi IIzuka herself isn't satisfied with way Misty is forgotten and abandoned in pokemon series, expressing desire through blogs, twitter and TR radio show to voice Misty again.

So maybe if not fans outcry, her thoughts and feelings find way to writer ears reconsidering idea of bringing Misty back. Probably not though, BUT hey it never hurts to have some small hope in reasonable quantity that is.

On a side note : It seems there has been some discussion about Misty outfit. Well no matter what she wears, we all know she looks good in pretty much anything.

I suppose reason why writers had Misty get new putfit for AG generation was to better mark beginning of new era in form Hoenn saga. Giving her fresh, more modern look feeling imo more new and revitalized through new clothes.

Although design was abit strange always wandering what that red piece of clothing is under her vest or yellow top. Maybe some swimsuit or t-shirt dunno.

Dunno but i liked her Hoenn clothes.

Still i liked best her outfit in Luvdisc episode from chronicles though. It felt casual and matched her personality being type of person who likes water and activities which go with it quite well. Through yellow tank top and blue shorts.

Speaking of Pallet Town reunions, I would actually like to see another one. I think that would be the easiest way for Misty to appear in person imo. I would also love to see her meet Paul, Paul's personality would probably re-spark her short temper that has been diminishing since Johto.

Well im not sure about easiest one, since imo for goal purposes, discovering new pokemon and learning from other water experts Misty could technically travel anywhere. Maybe even attend another Whirl Cup like tournament meeting up with Ash and potentially battling each other like in good old days lol.

Or even better trying herself to challenge Siebold from E4 who is water master basically, trying to impress him. Kinda wish she meet him, i imagine Misty would be all overjoyed during encounter and anxious of not wanting to embarass herself in front of such authority.

However Pallet reunion is definitely one of ways to bring character back and meet up with Ashd others. Meeting Paul was something i always thought could add for interesting, varied dynamic. His snide, callous and arrogant attitude and Misty temperament, impatient, selfrighteous nature would certainly provide enjopyable clash of ideals and interests on screen.

Granted Misty is more mature and selfcollected in this day and age, so she would probably try to stay calm to his provocations at first controlling herself. But eventually i imagine she would lash out her frustration and anger at him after either insulting her skills as water trainer or her pokemon underestimating her. Something we saw him being capable of doing more than once being lighter which seriously staggered gym leader Maylene from Sinnoh confidence and security.

So yeah tension between someone much more spunky and rebellious like Misty and cynical like Paul would definitely escalate haha.
    Ending battling each other.

As fo Misy short temper. I wouldn't say it diminished. I mean Misty still showed lot of fire in her arguing with Ash over Totodile, in Whirl Cup, when they got lost. When he teased her over being stubborn like Snubull or Houndoom etc.
Got in arguing and outplaying others like Dorian, Andreas, Egan, Macy from league, Jessie in teasing her over her being young and more dashing etc.
Got into clash with colonel Hanson making her furious,. Yelled at Daisy for being irresponsible coming up with snarky remarks about her model career. Or got angry at Psyduck and annoyed with others instantly assuming Tracey is her boyfriend in chronicles.

True Misty stopped hitting others or be so overly violent, but she still showed temper and feisty side to exist in her through yelling, witty remarks sometime being arrogant when provoked and criticizing).Being part of her development in becoming more open, independent and understanding as person.

She is still redhead we know, just more mature and grown up at this point and time which was good imo, because it fleshed out more of Misty other qualities like girly side, sassy behavior, passion for romance and water, caring nurturing tendencies or spunky, adventurous attitude liking to flirt and be part of action etc) as late Johto and episodes in Hoenn showed. While still having fiery nature in her, only less agggresive in being bready to rip someone head of lol(unless someone did something really negative to her).

Development i considered to be good thing, showing steps through character went in life giving it more depth and making it more realistic/ interesting to watch.

    To me at least.

What do you guys think Misty would be wearing the next time we see her?
Someone once told me that Misty's cameos in Advanced Generation help make it easier knowing that she is no longer a series regular. They couldn't have been more wrong. After she leaves behind Togepi she returns to her gym more alone than ever AND ON TOP OF THAT, her last cameo was in 2005. 2005!?!?!? ITS BEEN TEN YEARS SINCE ONE OF THE CAST WHO STARTED THE SHOW WAS ACTUALLY ON THE SHOW!?!?

Really, I've no idea. I never expected to see Misty's outfit change in Advanced. I'd think she would be wearing the same outfit. Honestly, she could go back to the suspenders for all I care if she'd make an appearance in the show.

I drew up a new-ish look for her. It's most likely not anything we would ever see in the show because its a much more modern look, but it's something to work with at least!

    What do you all think?

I have another question! Time to get a bit creative!!

What kind of trainer would be the best rival for Misty? His/her personality, Pokemon, general attitude?

I'd have to say it'd have to be someone similar to Paul because their personality could annoy Misty and bring out her more fiery side of her personality and it would be interesting to me.

To minerswhocraft:Woa that is some amazing artwork there. I like use of colors, background, and pokemon surrounding Misty.

She looks very mature, playful and confident in that picture. With combination of blue top and black shorts nicely reflecting her more grown up,blunt demeanor accompanied with impulsive, temperament and passionate personality.

    Interesting topic.

What kind of trainer would be the best rival for Misty? His/her personality, Pokemon, general attitude?

I believe persons like Andreas or Marina from Orange islands were best type of persons being perfect to rival Misty interests, passion and tomboyish nature.

Andreas cocky, arrogant attitude insulting on other people pokemon and skills irritated Misty to the point of holding grudge against him over whole course of Seaking competution.

Watching real spectacle in both trying to outwit each other, argue and forging plans how to defeat opposing side.

While presence of water trainer like Marina allowed us to see while not so much packed with clash and drama, differet kind of chemistry going around. Being pretty sweet that Misty found someone similar to her in greatly loving and respecting water specie. Having girly talks with Marina, sharing with each other their interests, hobbies and preference for certain things.

Extracting from Misty on surface some of that quirky, bubbly and girly side but at same time both girls showing competitive flare betweren themselves. Lot of confidence, determination and dedication in defeating each other.

So presence of water specialist like Marina would be beneficial to Misty in sense of representing competition. Someone she would view as obstacle needed to overcome to become water pokemon master, giving her motivation and desire to better herself, work on skills and feel anxiety of there existing water specialist which is either ahead of her or in same line.

While presence of more haughty, antediluvian characters like Andreas, Paul, Ursula etc. Would bring out of Misty her rage, sassy nature, headstrong attitude and rude behavior not wanting to back down. But trying as more mature person in this day and age play their game for awhile resorting to arrogant behavior reciprocating back provocations, being grumpy and outplaying them. Serving as foreplay before lashing out her frustration and anger at them. Once they cross the line lol.

So combination of lofty water specialist might be winning combination for Misty in terms of rivals.

What do you all make of this idea? Misty isn't actually out to be a Water Pokemon Master at all!?!?

It's not too lengthy of a thought, but it is extremely well backed and descriptive. An interesting thought that never once really came to mind. What do you guys think? This could make for a good discussion!

It's feasible and it certainly would have given Misty a bit more depth had it been explored. It makes sense given that she is the youngest of the sisters. We've seen that despite being the gym leader she does leave the gym every now and then. If her duty to her family is really that important then it says a great deal about how important the things she does when she leaves are to her. As for her not wanting to win the Whirl Cup, I think it's just Misty maturing a bit. Personally, I always want to succeed in everything I do, but the reality is you can't. Furthermore, focusing on the end result too much can inhibit your chances of winning.

Idea of Misty never wanting to become water pokemon master, using it only as vent to get away from home and try to find herself in something. Developing enough confidence and identity as person and eventually earn sisters respect and appreciation. While coming of as insightful analysis bringing more complexity to Misty character at same time contains some major flaws behind it.

With Misty deeply and clearly proving numerous times how she took water dreams very serious. Arguably even more than her relationship with sisters.

    Explanation:
In reality Misty wanted both. To earn sisters respect and to live and accomplish goal of mastering water pokemon. With no other character in main cast ever expressing so much passion and love for pokemon types like Misty did for water one, hoping to become best water trainer ever seen out there using them.

This can be noticed several times through course of series. We can see Misty blaming herself for not understanding Horsea feelings and attempts to warn them of Tentacruel invasion in Porta Vista City. Feeling ashamed of having even nerve to call herself water trainer and someone who wishes to master them.

In Misty with huge enthusiasm talking about water species, desire to meet legendary water pokemon understanding their origins and nature. During course of OS not just once but multiple times Misty dreamed and fangirled over meeting and catching mysterious water type coming to understand their strength and weaknesses.

Sharing her love and dreams with various people she met on road such as water trainer Marina, Marcellus from Johto or good friend Sakura, hotheaded trainer of fire types Egan explaining from where her passion for water comes.

In claiming numerous times how she "lives and breath" for water pokemon being something she identify herself with. Such level of genuine care and passion exceeds beyond just wanting to earn family respect clearly revealing how Misty regardless of broken relationship with sisters also wanted to become something more than just gym leader,. To become top renowned and recognized water trainer in world.

Further evidence to this can be noticed in Misty fangirling over E4 Lorelei in Orange islands talking how much she admires her knowledge and strategy in using water/ice pokemon. Hoping she will become one day powerful and famous worldwide like her.

Those are not words from person which just wanted to fix relationship with family and earn their recognition. But emotional and sincere feelings of young trainer which wishes to make name for herself in water trainer scene.

Yeah sure we didn't saw Lorelei brought up much later but thats because at that time writers didn't focused much on Misty dreams or battling, training in general. But rather exploration of character personalities, adventire aspect and friendship which with all its flaws made OS unpredictable and exciting to follow. Not to mention since for purpose of storyline E4 members swere rarely, if ever brought up writers didnpt brought them up unless its required.

For example we know Dawn explicitly said she idolize contest master Wallace, but due to Wallace not appearing much for canon purposes , this things aren't brought up often. Unless that same trainer is about to appear.

On that page someone mentioned also about Misty "praying to water goddess"to help her fulfill her dreams of becoming water pokemon master.

Which is another important aspect which should not be taken lightly and had nothing to even remotely hint of this interests drawing paralel in water master dream being used just as mask, consolation mindset to prove to herself and eventually older siblings how she is talented and skilled as well.

When Whirl islands started i noticed blogger talked how "Misty didn't took Whirl Cup seriously not wanting to win it", but i disagree with that notion.

We can see at start of Whirl Islands how much Misty talks and dreams of becoming water pokemon master to the point of Ash having to knock her back in reality reminding she didn't achieved this title.

When prof. Elm talked about Whirl Cup, title Alpha Omega of water pokemon and its connection with water masters in past who were called by that name, Misty became enthusiastic like she has never been before saying how she will show everyone in world how skilled of a water trainer she is aiming to win whole tournament and come closer toward her dreams.

In episode about catching Corsola we saw Misty taking this whole capture very seriously talking to Ash and Brock how she cannot give up no matter how much Corsola may be tough, saying ill cite"if i ever plan to become water pokemon master, i cannot let this obstacle throw me down"or something similar.

During whole Whirl Cup tournament right before Misty first battle she argues with Ash how title "Alpha OMega of water pokemon" and mystic water pendant will be hers planning to sweep through competition winning it.

Night before her battle with Ash Misty stays awake not being able to go sleep. Talking with Ash how she is excited about whole thing looking forward to next battle, and having privilege to be part of something big like this event which gathered powerful water trainers from all parts of world. In here Misty expression said more than her words. Blogger talks how if she took "Whirl Cup seriously" she would talked how winning it is a must.

But she didn't had to explicitly say that to receive message of how much Whirl Cup tournament was important to her.
With Misty instead of being all agitated and overconfident, acted rather humble and grateful to even enter it because she never had chance in her life prior to that to participate in tournament of such big scale meaning alot to her to be part of this and ticket in making step further in master career. Both prior and after that night when battling Ash she claimed how she will go all way through and rightfully acclaim title being driven by high determination and enthusiasm to accomplish this.

Revealing how disappointed she was when Trinity stopped her progression feeling let down and telling Corsola "i guess i wasn't strong enough".

Sure we didnpt saw Misty broke down in tears or fall down in depression like May or Dawn may have did after big loses. But thats not because she didn't took her water master dream and whole tournament seriously. But because Misty isn't type of person which will easily cry and pour her heart out to anyone. Being part of her personality to suck things up and deal with problems on her own, not looking for someone pity. And opening herself and taking about selfdoubts and emotional problems only to closest friends. Which isn't always the case either bringing extra depth to character and different sides of her there.

We can see numerous times this trat of Misty character with others like Mikey who got dissed by Eevee brothers, when Ash was despondent after losing in Kanto league in Brock feeling insecure and unsure of girls like Temaku liking him. Encouraging them to toughen up, stop selfpitying himself and take situation in their own hands.

Usdually when Misty cried it was either because of thinking someone she really cared about died(like Ash), when she had to let go pokemon she developed high emotional bond with(like Togetic)or in her childhood dreams being crushed with person she fantasized and hoped her whole life to meet turning out not to be who she believed to be.

Like nurse Joy which turned out to hate water pokemon despising sole thought of taking Misty pokeballs in her hands which caused Misty composure to break doewn and feelings behind headstrong, rough exterior bursting on surface.

But after defeats and unpleasant situations Misty simply wasn't type of character which would easily back down and fall in depression. Rather choosing to keep disappointment to herself and deal with failure deciding to do better next time and overcome issues on her own tending to hide her weakness.

Even after Whirl Cup Misty still continued mentioning desire to become water pokemon master and how powerful of water trainer she will become one day. This can be noticed for example in battling trainer with Poliwrath prior to her Poliwhirl evolution claiming how she "break and lives" for water pokemon drawing her strength and energy from this.

Or dreaming of becoming famous water trainer and catch legendary water pokemon in Slowpoke temple ending carried away in thoughts to point of being hit on head for losing concentration. Ill dig up episode name when i find time.

All this moments, whole trouble and effort of explaining better title of water pokemon master with Whirl Cup, introducing sea priest Maya who talked about water masters in past knowing how to communicate and understand water pokemon feelings. With title Alpha Omega according to prof. Elm drawing strong connections to whole water master title.

Misty fangirling like crazy over hgh water authorities like E4 Lorelei or even being honored to meet them like Trinity seems like a whole lot of work for someone "who didn't took her water dreams seriously".

Granted lot of Misty defensive behavior, hotheaded nature and at times insecurity did came from her disagreements with sisters playing huge role on Misty mental state and character development. And numerous examples like bonding with other characters which had similar issues with older siblings like Mikey, Sakura or Max further emphasized on that. As well events like Princess Festival, one of reasons behind leaviong Cerulean gym in first place giving us insight in Misty tragic past and how neglected and belittled she was as child causing her to grow up fast and develop need to become sekfreliant, tough and competent forming her personality greatly.

But if issues with Daisy, Lily and Violet were only reason behind Misty journey in first place with dream for whole time being to get accepted and valued as equal in her family , Misty wouldn't imply desire to leave gym and travel in chronicles. And she would just like Brock or Gary renounced her thought of bvecoming water master establishing how being gym leader is all she wanted and all she needs.

Moreover why would Misty even talk about desire to become water pokemon master and imply reaching E4 level of strength when she could just have claimed how she wants to become good enough water trainer to end up recognized by her older siblings? She already let know Ash and Brock of her bad past and relationship with them with both knowing how important it is for her to prove them wrong.

But at same time Misty too many times also let Ash and Brock, along with several other people how she dreams and plans of becoming strongest water trainer in world and reach title of water pokemon master.

Being driven by huge passioon and love for water pokemon in learning and explore about them as much as she can. Meet all kind of various species and become worldwide respected and known for her battling style and abilities as water trainer sincerely showing desire, big competitive flare and desire to become master of water pokemon. In many of those moments sisters were never brought up or implied to have any involvement with this.

All of this casted new light and dimension to Misty characterization. Showing how regardless of tragic past and messed up childhood not being in good relation with family, character still developed enough strength to cope with fears and selfdoubts which desconstructed her security and selfpreservance to form her own identity and break free from sisters influence. Developing her own dreams and path she wants to follow, find herself as person in something she absolutely adires and want to make something important and noteworthy of it in future.

This also draws parallel with Misty from games who also does not hide love for water pokemon and desire to reach high level as trainer with them. Worshipping E4 Lorelei in games just like Misty in anime did saying in GSC and HGSS how she plans to leave gym to improve skills and meet, battle stronger trainers showing attempt to become something more than gym leader.

Down bellow ill more thoroughly explain this:
As we all know Misty was already Cerulean gym leader before even meeting Ash. She told that multiple times in OS or when talking with other characters like Molly Hale from third pokemon movie saying she is battling one of Cerulean gym leaders.

Misty sisters started to view Misty in higher light in her gym battle against Ash in 7th episode acknowledging her skills as water trainer admitting how they may have thought wrong of her trainer abilities. In Misty Mermaid Misty once again proved herself to them in performing water ballet and saving Cerulean gym and its pokemon from TR, to the point of her pokemon impressing sisters so much that they basically begged her to borrow them her Starmie and Horsea.

Granted complex of inferiority still didn't diminished with sisters presenting themselves as prettier, more talented and graceful than their younger sister is which still clearly bothered Misty fueling her insecurity but her relationhop with them achieved improvement.

By middle Johto Misty complex of feeling less worthy started to diminish developing more selfconfidence and independence as character in sharing with Sakura how she knows how its like to be degraded and be in someone shadow. With two being able to relate with each other because of that developing big friendship, followed with developing sense of accomplishment and pride when she proved to Dorian of Coastline gym how she isn't useless runt like her older sisters used to present her to him when at some point meeting up with them(we have no idea when). And while at first she was furious and anxious over being present in such light viewing gym battle very seriously not wanting to lose at any cost. After her skills and talent were recognized with Dorian explaining how he may have formed wrong pictuire about her, Misty mildly blushed and felt filled with happiness .

By that point Misty stopped viewing herself in inferior light as sisters are.

During chronicles once Misty got gym back on right track and saved it from being shut down, sisters started to respect and acknowledge her even starting to become closer to Daisy spending more time together.

    BUT:

Even after going back to gym at end of Johto against her will and out of obligation, where Misty didn't wanted to stop trsaveling with Ash, Brock and pursue her dreams.

Later on through chronicles there are several facts which fuels thesis how she still wants to become water master and would rather prefer to travel, but at same time she feels its her responsibillity to help sisters out and put on hold her own goals until situation with gym leadership and all chores it drags with itself get resolved.

This can be noticed in chronicles when complaining to Daisy over not being there to fill in for her and help out shooking head in sadness when Daisy mindlessly run away(dub edit that out for whatever reason, probably because broken relationships and acts of sadness aren't desierable to show to small kids)., In episode "Date with Delcatty" in Japan version Misty goes through selfdoubts of what she should do with current situation directly saying ill cite "My sistrers are of no use so ill have to stay here doing my best for time being". When she visited Ash and co in Hoenn after releasing Togetic and returning home she said how she had fun being with them again but has to go back to help sisters out.

Context of last cameo appearance revealed how Misty still has unfinished business in damaged relationship with sisters as evidenced when talking to Max. Not in feeling as less worthy and accepted by them, but in not b eing able to understasnd her and her needs feeling frustrated over not having anyone to count on and rely whenever she leaves gym and wants to pursue her own desires and possibly advance dreams. Being upset and frustrated over Daisy constantly rushing her back home. When she rather wanted to stay with group for longer.

Misty in chronicles was portrayed as person which always viewed gym as job doing it out of necessity forcing it on herself because of not being able to count on Daisy and others. She felt it was her responsibility to take care of thins, and put her own dreams on hold.

Which was clearly evidenced in episode when she got called on date from chronicles, choosing to stay at gym not because this was her dream all way long. But because she didn't had really choice after witnessing how much her sisters are hopeless and incompetent trying to avoid their gym responsibilities and leaving all burden on her.

And Misty isn't type of person which will just send everything to hell and risk her home ending shut down, deciding to help family out and take best out of current situation until whole situation with gym substitute and older siblings gets resolved allowing to leave home without fear of ending closed down and demolished in case of deciding to go on journey and make further progress toward her own dreams.

Showing lot of passion and burning desire to still become strong and successful water trainer(other wording for water master), learn everything she can about them and was very prideful when she tamed Gyarados learning it flamethrower.

With writers through background behind Misty decision to stay at gym and disappointment over not having anyone to help her out and rely on hinting desire to travel again leaving on large part her future undefined and what she intends to do with life, her goals and direction in which story will go uncleared regarding her dream of living up to idol E4 Lorelei and become recognized water master.
Showing how Misty had other higher goals than only earning sisters respect.

So no i don't think Misty desire to become water pokemon master was just some hoax, but realistic goal Misty pursued and took seriously.

    EDIT:
Point is writers through canon let us know Misty dream and ambitions, they let us know she deeply cares abnout this things. But at same time amount of focus on Misty water dreams or pokemon wasnpt as big as it could have been. Since formula of pokemon series followed different direction at that time. Not to mention according to head writer for OS Takeshi Shudo Misty was initially planned to be in anime as permanent female, so her story was intended to develop gradually and slowly(Hoenn alone with Wallace, Juan, Kyogre, Team Aqua was full of water plots to give her bigger role). Until unexpected circumstances happened with upper staff bringing decision to replace Misty, hence not leaving time to do more development and provide closure to plots and dreams introduced about Misty, as sad as it may be.

I think I agree with you Pokemonfan. It's an interesting thought that Misty is out to prove herself, not to herself, but to her sisters, but at the end of the day she is out there for herself. She was born and raised in a water type environment so its understandable to want to be the best of all water type trainers, and when your sisters are all water type trainers and you feel the need to be better than them, what better way to do that then to be a water master!

I think she truly does want to be a master. Sometimes I think she wants it more than Ash does. She truly shows more passion about water types that come up in the show than anybody else ever does. So I do believe she does want to be a master.

AND SHE SHOULD GET ANOTHER CHANCE TO TRY! DAMN YOU POKEMON!!

Why do we even watch Pokemon anymore

I would really love to see Misty meet Paul. I really want to see how they would interact with each other. I guess they will most likely argue with each other lol. Though I guess it is a possibility that they met offscreen in the anime, since I think that Paul already has the Cerulean City gym badge. Maybe he battled her at the Cerulean gym.

All this talk about Paul and pokemon chronicles reminded me why it would be fantastic idea to give Misty her own spin of series.

If main series turned back on this amazing for many classic character, than she should get her own adventure being star in there.

Because if any character deserved it, its definitely her having more potential, predispositions than any other companion imo to tell through her enjoyable, deep and diverse story which could offer lot of drama, conflict and unexpected twists.

I enjoyed in Misty starring role she played in pokemon chronicles. Bursting with pride, confidence and outgoing demeanor. Her sassy, brash remaeks toward Daisy joking about her career and dizzy nature, frustration over Psyduck and flirty, rebellious attitude. Taking lead in stopping pokemon thiefs and Butch/Cassidy. Overcame her Gyarados fear becoming alot stronger and more badass as trainer. As evidenced with her very powerful Corsola when battling Georgio Delcatty, How she saved gym and increased its reputation and had many funny, enjoyable moments. Showing some sides to her which we didnt saw befroe or all that much such as timid , insecure nature when she was asked on date being left perplexed and anxious.

Or in slightly arrogant, playful nature due to soending time with Daisy becomiong closer toward each other feekling like she grew up.

So with no further delay even though we had this question before, ill ask it in reformated version again . If anything than because previous response was very low and almost no ne answered it(sad, because its very interesting topic and fertile for creative discussion).

PLEASE everyone, dont hesitate in unleashing your brain juices of creativity in here. Be as descriptive, elaborate and inspired with your responses as much as possible because im curious to see how and what do you think could be done to make viable development and enjoyable story from it?

Do you think it would be good idea for Misty to get her own spin of series and about what you think it could be like? What you imagine would/could be put into it?

    Im of opinion personally how this would be wonderful idea because;
We could see Misty decide to learn more about her past going on quest to find out why parents abandoned her and sisters. Coming to realization they are worldwide renowned water masters,. Developing insecurity and fear of failing to live up to her parents expectations losing confidence and strength as water trainer going through selfsearching and questioning if she truly has what it takes to become water pokemon master.

With this struggle serving as wake up call and way to deveop bigger determination and passion than ever before to become best water expert in world and show everyone how unique and cool water pokemon can be(something Misty stated to want to show whole world when traveling with ash).

There could be set up completely new and unique way of developing her story. Setting of on her own journey after collecting enough experience and knowledge to advance water master career in becoming strongest water trainer in world. By reentering Whirl Cup and aiming to win it coming back as more mature, filled with fiery spirit and smarter this time.

Enter other prestigue tournaments serving as follow up from Whirl tournament. Battle all kind of other water specialists. Marina from Orange Islands, Trinity, Andreas, Brock mother Lola(yes you heard me right, she specialize in water pokemon). Juan, Kyle from Sinnoh who made grand entrance at Wallace Cup etc.

Training and learning secrets of extracting their potential to full capacity. With her Psyduck learning how to battle and swim, evolved Horsea, Goldeen , more agile and resistant Starmie etc serving as testament to hard work and increased skill of hers.

We could see Misty gathering knowledge about all kind of new water pokemon in world she at gym had never chance to encounter before(Kyogre, Surskit, Swanna, Phione, Clauncher etc to name a few which because oif distance and isolation arent available in Kanto (which Unova proved with Clair and Druddigon having to go there to capture it).

Learn about their origins, secrets, weaknesses and strength .Discover her own style as water trainer and sharp skills by learning about new ways of unlocking pokemon full power and go on completely new, more sophsticated level. Traveling to collect key items and mega stone to evolve her Gyarados in mega Gyarados, Maybe even catch Slowbro reaching its ultimate form mega Slowbro. His derpy, out of place style would certainly bring interesting, refreshing note to her pokemon team.

Or even better. Misty could after lot of renunciation, effort and dedication as gym leader make name for herself in Kanto becoming noticed by pokemon agents from pokemon league committee who are looking for new candudates suitable enough for E4 position.

With Misty deciding to try to apply for E4 position of Kanto elite trainers herself fulfilling her dreams of becoming strongest water trainer in world.

Going on quest to battle evaluators sanctioned by pokemon league. With each of them testing her in different field. Such as her knowledge and ability to find way out of unfavorable situations. How strong bond, love and understanding between her and water pokemon is doing tag battle learning how to work as team with her water types.

In testing her knowledge and creativity in overcoming type disadvantage water pokemon as specie have against grass and especially electric pokemon. Developing counters, more creative strategy and ways how to use opponent strength against himself.

This kind of tests organized by evaluators could be made in form of racing, tag pokemon battles, combination of various terrains and how adaptive Misty is as triner in utilizing her pokemon on water, ground, metal surface etc.

Followed with training with her idol E4 Lorelei on Seafom islands, potentially with Wallace as one of top water trainers in world in Hoenn, maybe even E4 Siebold who is water pokemon master in games in how to truly master use of water pokemon, achieve perfect synchronization with them and overcome weaknesses and flaws they have.

With this episodes and adventures she would go through serving as preparation for final test in determining whether shes acceptable enough to inherit E4 position herself in becoming first female E4 trainer of water pokemon in world. Honored, acknowledged and recognized for divergent, innovative style in utilizing water pokemon.

Misty is blessed in that aspect because despite being one type trainer, she specialize in most widespreaded, most diverse and abundant specie of pokemon out there. Water pokemon who are spread all over the world in all kind of shapes in aquatic form. Amphibious form, even flying form being paired with every other pokemon type except fire so far. Posess high level of resources, fresh and versatile pool of techniques to form balanced and fun pokemon team. Establish competitions and tournaments revolving solely around them in being used to full capacity and create memlorable, unique story from it representing pokemon related to element which means life(water) in best possible way.

There exist lot of potential to create series where Misty could star as central character in my opinion.

Well I'm developing a Misty series myself that I plan to lightly animate and such, so I have been thinking about what her own series would be like for a while and I think, with proper story telling, we could have an amazing adventure as great as Avatar The Last Airbender! (My personal all time greatest cartoon ever made!!!)

So basically Misty will be a few years older and has been contemplating her life a ton lately. She is upset with Ash for never coming back to her and still talks with May and Tracey, but Brock has also lost touch. Tracey has to head home to the Orange Islands and Misty decides to follow, to test her own new strength against Ash's by competing in the Orange league.

Without going into such specific detail, lots would happen along the way, and king after the Orange league. The main antagonist would be an Ex-Team Aqua member who still seeks water domination through Kyogre and eventually Misty gets tied up in it all and catches Kyogre, all thanks to Psyduck in a very epic and humorous show down!

With Kyogre by her side she can go on to test her strength and prove herself against Lorelei! Whether she would win or lose, or however the story would end, she would be determined a Water Pokemon Master by someone who means a lot to her, whether or not she is an actual Master wouldn't matter. In her eye she will have reached her dream, be more than happy, and have a new quest to set out upon!

    I want this now, haha

Do you think it would be good idea for Misty to get her own spin of series and about what you think it could be like? What you imagine would/could be put into it?

Maybe, but I would like some of the other past characters to appear in it as well. I wouldn't say that Misty gets her own series, I think I'd prefer more of another Chronicles-like series. That way we can have other characters meeting and interacting with each other, plus it doesn't show any favoritism towards any of the characters if they all appeared instead of just having a Misty spin-off series. I don't really think that a series that only stars Misty would be very successful tbh. I just think people will be more interested if Misty and other characters were focused on in a 2nd Chronicles series, but that's just me.

Huh it seems not much activity has been happening over past few weeks. Shame, this place used to be alot more active.

To minerswhocraft :Cant believe i didn't said this earlier.

But i really like your idea coming of as bold, creative and fruitful follow up on Misty story. Especially because Misty going back to Orange islands in company of Tracey wouldnt only allow development of her character, but in giving potentially insight in Tracey backstory.

Since he originates from Orange archipelago finding out more about his story, family, childhood and place from where he comes from. Bringing stronger dimension to his personality, better understsnding of personality, dreams and desires he had/has.

Misty going back to Orange islands make lot of sense from standalone story on its own. Because if im not mistaken Mandarin island is one of place of residence where E4 member Lorelei/Prima comes to. Being widely known that Misty in anime fangirls and deeply respects Lorelei claiming to be her idol, hoping she could teach her how to be stronger water trainer.

Above all wanting herself one day to achieve such level of prestigue and recognition reaching level of elite trainers in becoming strongest water trainer in world and water master.

So after learning what she could at gym and developing better sense of understanding toward relation between pokemon and battles, going on journey to try her skills in tournaments like Orange league raising abilities as trainer to higher level. Catch new pokemon, learn from other strong pokemon type specialists and discover new ways of powering her pokemon like mega evolution comes of as natural and logical way of progressing forward. For anyone who dreams of achieving higher position as trainer and develop abilities which at gym he/she couldnt.

Dealing with possible insecurities and fears of not having enough strength and knowledge in standing up to Lorelei, pondering where she belongs as water trainer and in what direction with life she wishes to go.

I also welcome way your possibly going to portray Misty characterization in your work, because Ash ignoring her and not trying to establish any sort of contact for years would definitely make her upset, develop grudge and disappointment. Going perfectly in line with natural development of someone personality and her own character ending deeply hurting because of how little all those adventures and close bond they established being always there for him, meant in end.

Presence of May is heavily welcomed addition too. Because while she and Misty had some pretty sweet and noteworthy moments together(especially when she saved her life), their friendship never really clicked of too well.

Both because of Misty cameo appearances in Hoenn being extremely short consisting of 2 episodes per time, but also because of either coming of as heavily plot based with release of Togetic and Misty and her pokemon character development. Or focused on Misty building and creating on closer relationship and understanding with others like Max.

Consequence of this resulted in Misty and May not having time to develop better support, familiarity with each other flaws, desires and insecurities creating stronger girl to girl friendship.

With clash against Ash at Orange league stadium opening doors toward revival of that ever so existing spark and fiery passion they posess as trainers in becoming best they could be.

But also possible process of reconciliation with Misty letting Ash know how she felt about his careless, bewildered nature not visiting her or letting her know about his location for so much time through battle. Because lets face it battle is best language Ash understands.

Making Ash question about his actions and how one of his best friends might have felt in losing contact for years like she never played important role in his life.
Leading toward arguing, sadness and cynical tone from Misty side . But also remembering all those good times she spent with Ash. Things she liked him for such as unconditional care and selfless nature in doing everything he can for pokemon. Clueless innocent attitude etc.

All those adventures, battles, laugh, endearing times when they bickered or tried to outsmart themselves followed with moral support and understanding.

With Misty possibly starting to rethink of her views forgiving him.

    So MUCH potential.

Presence of ex member of Team Aqua organization reminds me of Team Rocket storyline in second generation of games when they got disband desperately trying to reinvigorate fallen organization returning Giovanni on its head position. Or Charon trying to resurge Team Galactic.

Something i could see happening with cognition of legendary Kyogre having ability to undergo process of primal reversion. Going back to its primordial ancient power which makes him stronger, more resistant and intensive than ever before. Awakening its sleeping powers and full potential.

Which would be more than enough motivation for any villain in trying to obtain this beast of seas and oceans if he wants to conquer world through such means.

Leading toward unforced involvement of Misty in Kyogre storyline and villains trying to stop them, fitting nicely with her plans and character. Because im not sure if many of you guys remember, but Misty time after time in Original series claimed, even prayed to "water godess" how she wishes to meet and catch mysterious, legendary water pokemon. Wanting to learn about their nature , origins and weaknesses, strength they posess.

Something Pocket monsters manga artfully did where Suicune choosed her as partner after earning its thrust developing strong bond.
Something which would be excellent development for Misty in anime coming to understand water pokemon feelings and achieve closer level of relation.

Yeah thinking about it. If Misty manage to catch legendary Kyogre fulfilling one of her dreams ever she was child. If she get opportunity to challenge her idol E4 Lorelei she respects and admire so much.

If she is able to travel, explore world, enter tournaments with high competitions, catch new pokemon she never even heard of and develop all kind of new more unique and creative combination of attacks and strategies she didnt had chance at gym.

Regardless of win or lose vs E4, i imagine Misty would be happy and fulfilled as person already starting to live her dream to fullest.

Filling her with courage, motivation and energy inpossibly winning Wghirl Cup in next try, conquer other water tournaments which brings you toward title of water master, train and take notes from other pokemon experts(like Wallace, Siebold, Marlon etc) and battling possibly evaluators passing tasks one day officialy becoming very first E4 member female using water specie.

Im glad to hear how there exist creativity, will and love for Misty character even nowadays when shes all but forgotten from writers and directors.

I fully approve and admire your desire to do animated series focusing on Misty in main role. I have no idea how much work, time, effort and resources such feat would require.

But Misty is truly lucky and blessed to have such loyal, dedicated and passionate fans who can recognize her appeal, importance to pokemon and identity she brought to it brimming with lot of interesting potential.

Not giving up on her, keeping her alive through talks, supoport, fanarts, stories, demand to see her comeback again and even attempt to create follow up on her unfinished story through new series.

I greatly respect what your planning to do minerswhocraft.

    P.S.
@ Dawn+Serena Fan: Well other characters could still appear in spin of as supporting cast. Or by playing role in some arcs, even in series based on Misty.

Personally i think Misty has enough interesting plots , personality and charm to succeed in show focused on her.
Idea minewhocraft came up with is just bit of all kind of diverse, viable storylines to make very, very good work out of it.

But yeah your probably right. Paralell anime having multiple past characters as main stars would have bigger potential. With Misty of course not being left out from it deserving some special lengthy arcs focusing on her.

By the way, if you guys and possibly girls have any type of pictures or interesting details about Misty. Dont hesitate to post some of them in here and share with rest of us(well maybe we get some new members or older ones return). To make this place more colorful and fresh so to speak.

Wow! I'm so glad to hear the support! You give a lot that I can work with!

Misty, I've realized, was one of the biggest reasons I even started watching Pokemon this past summer. Her attitude and drive just kept me coming for more and more. I was completely caught off guard seeing her for the first time and getting to know her personality. I had not known Pokemon, of all things, was able to create such a fantastic character.

I didn't care about battles. I wanted Ash to win, that's for sure, but certainly it wasn't the battles that kept me watching. It was the characters, their friendship, their personalities, that made the show so great. I realized that after Misty left, the relationships I had been watching and loving for the first 5 seasons was gone. This is why I stopped watching.

May got nowhere near as much personality as Misty did. The characters lost the sense of a STRONG friendship beyond the 5th seasons. Things had become formalized, going through the motions and giving kids what they want to see.

I don't hate the show BECAUSE Misty left. It's simply that Misty leaving CHANGED the show. It's not what I fell in love with, not why I PERSONALLY found attractive in the show. And so beyond Misty's leave I could not continue watching. It isn't the same show.

So yea. There's a little not of rant for anyone who cares to read, haha.

I've been meaning to post here for a while but I kept pushing it off. Misty is definitely one of my favorite characters from the anime. I love her determination and she's never afraid to step up for something, if she believe it's the right thing to do. The anime just has not been the same since she left. I still love the anime but it really has gone downhill ever since Misty left. I miss her so much now more then ever and I wish she would come back.

So do you mind if I join this club?

I wish Tomioka or whatever his name is wrote most of the Misty episodes instead of Shudo. Shudo is a good writer as he wrote Team Rocket very well, but I feel that he didn't know how to write the female leads at all. If Tomioka had written Misty I feel that she would have been handled alot better goal wise, especially during mid-Johto when she pretty much hardly did anything. In the Master Quest series it seems that Tomioka took over as head writer once Shudo left and you can definitely see the difference in the way Misty was being handled imo.

    To Mizz Nikki:
Your accepted to join. Only precondition in joining this place is liking Misty, and you more than qualified for it.

So in absence of owener of this club as co-owner ill accept your request.

WELCOME aboard and have fun discussing this amazing pokemon girl which is unfortunately forgotten nowadays.

I also know how that feeling. I too think pokemon anime decreased in quality ever since Misty was removed. She brought strong feeling of identity perfectly balancing out group chemistry making things more zealous and flaunting with her colorful personality. With writers leaving lot to be desired with character having many things and potential to expand on her story end unanswered. Not only with water master goal dreaming to become best water trainer like her idol(Lorelei),but also with past, ambitions and various other aspects of Misty character which are left unfinished and unexplored.

Getting rid of one of most appealing and complex characters this show had with fantastic potential only left insipid taste in mouth taking away from humor, charm and lively atmosphere Misty strong charisma, unpredictable nature and original interests brought to this anime.

I think i can speak in name of majority who joined this club how they miss Misty as well and hope we will see good old fiery, sweeet and sefrighteous redhead back in this anime.

Deserving to make further progress to her dreams of becoming water pokemon master and reach E4 level catching up to idol Lorelei which she cannot if locked at gym forever,. Catch new pokemon, explore on her past and unsolved issues sich as trouble in utilizing pokenmon to full potential as Psyduck case shows, having trouble in conveying her feelings and say what bothers her when sisters are in qurestion complaining of their absence and laziness in chronicles in not having anyome to rely on, but not telling them in face. Or as her feelings for Ash showed with conflicts boiling inside her character.

Have her meat unorthodox and new pokemon like Binnacle or Surskit which she may find repulsive igniting conflict inside character. Going through struggling betweem hating bugs or not being comfortable with pokemon she finds unattractive, but at same time her love and passion for water pokemon telling her otherwise offering ground for excellent further character development.

Entering high level tournaments and events Whirl Cup introduced, meeting legendary water okemon understanding their secrets and true nature she always dreamed of possibly mega evolving one day her pokemon too .

All packed with lot of humor, vividness, charm and fiery passion Misty rich characterization could bring to pokemon series making them more attractive to follow.

If that day ever happens will be day when every Misty fan will have reason for celebration.

    EDIT:
To Dawn+Serena Fan: Interesting thought you have there.

Its true how coincidence or not Atsuhiro Tomioka gave more focus and attention to Misty drerams of becoming water pokemon master with Whirl Islands archipelago. Her pokemon as evidenced with evolution of Poliwhirl or Corsola capture receiving more character development in Master Quest in revealing why she loves water pokemon so much , in building on sweet and endearing friendship with Sakura, proving her skills as trainer to gym leader Dorian etc.

Had her evolve and release Togetic growing in pretty evoking and emotional way there emphasizing on powerful bond there existed between her and pokemon. Backed with lot of focus, great characterization and development in chronicles.

Compared to middle of Johto where things moved slowly and she didn't had as much focus and involvement in plots as she should had.
Middle of Johto was transition period between mr. Shudo leaving head position and no main writer being eastablished yet with staff struggling to develop direction and in what way they want storyline and plot to sort out. Especially once GS ball was dropped as one of main plots Johto supposed to have. So in that transition period no one got to thrive and develop much.

But mr. Tomioka and cooperation of other writers in restoring storyline and path through which characters and plotlines unfolded out in 5th season and afterwards. Serves as pretty good indication how if Misy wasnt replaced she would had only receive more focus under Atsuhiro Tomioka batton. Building on what he introduced with lore of sea heroes and Whirl Cupo, catch all kind of new cool water types, play role in stopping legendary pokemon like Kyogre and team Aqua diving deeper in her thoughts and love for this specie accumulating rage and despair in seeing specie she loves so much beng abused like that.

Meet other water pokemon experts like Wallace, Juan, Marlon etc learning how to improve her skilla and achieve perfect synchronization with youir pokemon in becoming water master. And many other cool things.

In contrast Takeshi Shudo may have done great job in exploring Misty personality and characterization adding lot of layers, depth and natural flow of emotions. Gave us interesting insight in Misty messed up childhood and past growing without parental love and care followed with degradation from older sisters resulting in lot of insecurity and complex of feeing inferior to others developing need to prove herself to others and be noticed for her abilities.

In giving insight in conflict and struggles going inside Misty over how she feels about Ash with friuendship taing more profound, reaistic not over time. Going from love hate in mature, full of mutual understanding relationship.

Or how she feels about her competence as water trainer and how important to her water pokemon are in wanting to become strongest specialist in world showing others how beautiful and strong pokemon are. One of good examples was in confronting nurse Joy which hated them openly about her prejudices formed toward this species or in talking Ash and others in helping lure out Rhydon out of lake leaving impression on her in ground pokermon being such good swimmer.

Setting up ground for significant and strong characer development from Misty side over time eventually. For that alone he will have my grattude firever in creating Misty character and bringing life to her. With writers thank to his instructions after he left not losing their touch in maintaining charm, diversity of expressions not always revealing how she feels hiding her thoughts and problems keeeoing them in herself, endearing flaws and defiant tomboyish characteristics mixed with feminine tendencies Misty had going for her. Coming of as unique and complex character.

I also have to hand mr. Shudo out how when he was in charge he did pretty succesful job in maintaining Misty active despite lack of direction and more focus on her story and dreams in Kanto, Orange and third season in serving as Ash coach and mentor, often entering various activities outside of her love and passion for water pokemon(like beauty contest, Princess tournament, playing role as mermaid, entering races etc).

Along with helping others to believe in themselves, searched for clues and how to find eway out from dangerous sitiuations, enraged pokemon or villains(like St. Anne, when Ash and Tracey got sick searching for Salveyo weed, using her pokemon to stop hungry Snorlax or furious Nidoking, when they got stuck in foirest befriending Hoot Hoot to help them find way out or taking initiative to stop TR Arbok mecha and free Sebtret, Pikachu anbd Togepi for example).

So with Misty you could never feel her left out because of overall curious and active, daring nature wanting to be part of various things pushing show forward.

But Takeshi Shudo also because of focusing too much on aspect of journey, friendship and development of human interactions and their own flaws neglected Misty dreams of becoming water pokemon master. Didnt gave her enough episodes focusing on her skills as water trainer challenging others in battles, her longtime fears such as Gyarados trauma, meeting and catching legendary water pokemon realizing how to reach to their feelings and read their fears, thoughts and weaknesses develop strong bond full of understanding and teamwork.

Or whole fascination over Lorelei/Primas from E4 and desire to reach level of elite water trainer herself one day.

Having Misty grow emotionally and deeloping as person in letting her personality change and receive new dimensions to it. But leaving her storyline, dreams and plots introduced around character underdeveloped and never used to full potential.

Which was one of biggest weaknesses and wrongly estimated decisions he did as head writer sadly.

Hey guys, Do you mind If I join this Club?

I Remember Being a huge fan of Misty back in very late johto, but it kinda faded once AG started to air.

Recently I was in this huge Iris vs. Misty discussion, on the side of Iris, and I kinda felt kinda bad about it, so I decided to bingewatch a bit of OS, just to get my memory straight, and to find out why all the fuss was about.

I gotta say, Misty was far better than the monster I had painted her in that discussion. While my memory told me all Misty did during OS was nag Ash, and belittle him. What I really found was this kind loving person who wasnt doing this because of her bitterness, but rather a very tragic backsotry of being the youngest in the family. Now this actually stuck a personal note with me, as I myself have siblings, and have felt similar feelings, and has taken it out on other people.

Can a little coldhearted grinch like me please this fanclub?
