    Lightbulb [Gen 5] Competitive Dictionary

Didn't notice a post like this around here yet, so I figured I'd post one. If there already is one like it, feel free to close this one.

        Spoiler:- Roles:

        Spoiler:- Commonly used terms:

        Spoiler:- Abbreviations:

Feel free to tell me if there's anything else you feel should be added, or if you start hearing of a new term being used. I won't be adding things like "MH" that were used to describe Mischievous Heart, as they are no longer the correct terms.

Lol, Butterfree as a status platform. :P

Joking aside, this is a really nice guide, covers all the bases. Just one quick piece of aesthetic advice. For the little images for 5th Gen Pokemon, put a colon on either side of their Pokedex number instead of a semicolon like you would for earlier Gen Pokemon.

    That is all! ^_^

Hey Serebii, how you doing? Not sure how many of you guys from way back are out there, but just to let you know that I'm back, though I'm not sure how regularly I'll be on. Thanks for everything, and I hope I can continue to enjoy my time here!

Yes, it's very good and helpful.

Do you think you could say what a suspect pokemon/tier is?
I have no clue so it would be good to see it.And you could define what a 'Broken' Pokemon is, too.

    Mmh, some mistakes, like
    Lure
A lure is a pokémon whose sole purpose is to bait a pokémon into play and beat it. The idea is to lure a pokémon in that counters your main sweeper.
Jirachi can be a great lure, as it can feign a multitude of sets, thus making the pokémon its luring in feel safe enough to switch in; only to be OHKOd for doing so. In the Example, Jirachi Feigns a Scarfed set by using the moves Iron and U turn until Either Scizor or Gliscor switch in.
    Should be Iron Head.

And If you don't mind, improve the format, throw in the actual sprites (Not animations, they take too long to load, and the smilies are...), and fix some errors here and there.

Maybe add tiers into the abbreviation section?

Perhaps you should add staller as a role, and maybe even anti-lead.
As an example, walrein, chansey, ludicolo and toxicroak are great stallers, and great anti-leads are taunters like whimsicott and sableye, and the ultimate espeon.

        Spoiler:- DW Females:

I am looking for a modest or timid heatran UT or EV'd in 4th gen or knowing dragon pulse and a modest/timid thundurus UT or EV'd with HP [Ice].

Stalling is kind of a given when you think of a wall. If it can't stall it's pretty much a tank. I will edit the definition for wall to put some more emphasis on this though.

I completely forgot about anti leads. I will certainly add that

This is a great guide! What would Chandelure be classified under and what move pool? I want to use him in the right way, and not give him the wrong move pool.

There are many ways to use a Chandelure it can be a revenge killer with a choice Scarf. It can be a special sweeper with a Calm Mind or Flame Charge set.

With the right support a lot things are viable for chandelure, however its main problems are a poor defencive typing, a lack of power physically and not a whole lot of bulk. So with that in mind, you want to veer away from Tank like sets and Physical sweeping sets; stick to special sweeping.

Well I learned a lot about team dynamics. You should probably add a short description about what EVs and IVs are. It doesn't help to know how many you can have if you don't know what they are. Even just saying they affect stats should be enough.
(I didn't make the puzzle, I just completed it.)

70% of the Serebii population uses ultra powerful legendaries (also known as ubers) in their teams. If you are one of the 30% that thinks outside the box and doesn't use ubers, copy and paste this into your signature! (Started by SapphireL)

im curious to know what role a Flareon might hold, while its physical att base hits 130, it lacks in physical STABs

Great guide I actually made a similar guide for my local site not too long ago. A few terms you should consider adding (from the top of my head):

    - FWG
    - Triple Steel, Triple Dragon
    - Hax
    - SkarmBliss
    - CurseLax
    - DC (Disconnect)
    - ragequit

FWG stands for Fire/Water/Grass. It's a core based on synergy between the three types that lets them cover eachother's weaknesses well. These were much more common in late 4th Gen after Salamence was banned, one of the main Pokemon that easily tore these cores apart. Also, ragequit is when someone quits in the middle of a battle out of frustration, usually when they are haxed a lot or if their situation in the battle is hopeless.
