It is possilbe but your going to need to trade.
If you caught all of the Pokemon then there would be no Pokemon left for other people.
Spoiler:- The rest of my sig:
I have claimed the beast that is Shieldon.

Well technically no, it's not possible to 'catch' them all, because some can't be caught and have to be downloaded from special events etc. But yeah, if you have enough time on your hands and are lucky enough to be able to access wifi and have generous friends, yeah, it's possible to GET them all.
It's just not easy.
- Hiatus Notice -
I'm sorry to do this, but I won't be posting in the Serebii Discussion Forums anymore. My account here will remain open for trading/chatting with friends, but please be patient for a reply as my visits here will be fewer.
I've left for the greener pastures of Bulbagarden Forums, where free speech is still allowed and the rules are followed by all, including those who enforce them.
It's been a fun 3 years ~
It's time consuming, but it can be done. I caught every pokemon in Pokemon Diamond. Minus a few event pokemon that I could not obtain, because the events had expired.
Games I own:
Pkm Red, Yellow, Sapphire, Diamond, and Black
Currently hatching for shiny Diglett
FC pkm Black: 1506 6295 2780
Trainer name: Kate
I do not have wi-fi at home, but when I leave home and go to town, they have wi-fi.
Yes, it is possible, but it is getting really annoying.

It is possible through hacking of course
"Your signature was too epic! My epeen couldn't handle its epicness" - so called half-arsed mod (they know who they are)
Possible if you:
1. Have no life
2. Are bored
3. Willing to slave for hours to get certain stuff
4. Will wait years for events
5. Have lotsa spaghetti! Jokes, but seriously, if you have lots of time
6. Have wi-fi
7. Willing to trade crap, good stuff and the happiness and joy of life
Hello. You have wasted 1 second of your life readin this

At the time the game was release, HG/SS weren't out so Lugia and Ho-oh were still event Pokemon. When HG/SS came out, they could be caught (but they are still not necessary to complete Platinum's Pokedex, along with other event Pokemon). Did you need event Pokemon to complete the Pokedex in 3rd gen as well?
GTS negotiations can be a godsend, even if half the time it doesnt work out for you. try to breed a bunch of hard-to-obtain pokemon that people like, like starters (females too), fossils, spiritomb, shedinga, pseudolegendaries, zouras, older gen pokemon (esp. from hoenn). try breeding your own DW females too. also go to nimbasa and change your greeting to something to something good like what you need ("I can do anything for squirtle") or say something special you have
I have claimed Giratina
It's possible, but can take quite a while. Most of the Pokemon can be caught in game, but for events, you'll have to trade for them.
Ihave almost all pokémon
Fear my mudkipz!
Who can give me DS (I have one). I started filling white pokedex. You must just trade on GTS or with people on serebii !

the GTS does make it seem very possible... I can catch all of them because i cheated in Diamond and got the pokedex filled. With a bunch of legendaries, I can get any pokemon I want, I just have to ask for it. Except Arceus.
I guess not... I was actually too late to get any events. My Arceus came from a friend ^^ who also cheated for it.
My friend caught every single pokemon except the unreleased 3 in a matter of 6 years. He wasted a lot of his life but thats a addict for ya.
Within my lifetime, I've done a lot of walking. I started my journey walking on a little path called Route 1. Little did I know that walking down that route would lead me onwards to a road that went by the name of Victory. Just west of Victory Road, I walked up an entire mountain where atop stood a silent trainer who was one of the mightiest I had ever faced. I've walked, through sandstorms, across the hard desert of Hoenn. I've walked through pelting hail, across the snow covered terrains of Sinnoh. And now as I look back on all my travels I find myself walking across the Skyarrow Bridge of Unova. It took a lot of walking through tall grass patches to get where I am today...But it was worth the walk.
It's possible if you have a lot of time and dedication on your hands along with Wi-Fi.
I don't have Wi-Fi, so it's impossible for me unless I cheat which I see no reason to do.
