He's got 1 higher Strength and Speed and 2 lower res. The caps are otherwise identical, aside from having 2 higher movement as a Paladin.
He really is much better off as a Paladin.
But that Strength or Speed could make the difference! I kid. I just prefer his as a Great Lord. Call me old fashioned.

Your Shadow Dragon characters will trickle in over time. I currently have Caeda and Minerva. As for the latter mentioned character's DLC, that is explained below.
Am I just out of luck because I didn't buy it and download off the eShop on release day? Is it because I haven't beaten Spoiler:- Click:

yet? Back when the game was released, I remember that whenever a new pack was released, everyone not unlocked in the previous pack would show up and the new pack would be there.
Update Now does not seem to do a damn thing whenever I use it.
Reason I ask is that I want to use a lot of Spotpass characters, most of which are unreleased. Sigurd, Gharnef, Oliver, and some others. If I'm just screwed because of a three day delay, and am going to thereby get content literal days after it should be playable, this is going to be really grating.
Thanks for any help.
You need to beat Chapter 25 in order to gain access to the special Spotpass maps. The special characters are unlocked by recruiting them after actual play, not like the Spotpass Teams that are released.

Hello, everyone. I'm a bit confused about Spotpass content.
Due to the initial shipping fiasco with Fire Emblem: Awakening at retailers, I didn't get my game until Thursday of the week the game was released.
Now, I remember seeing mention of this a while back.
However, today I saw this in a post...and, yeah...

It's not because of when you got the game, I got it the day after you did, but I've gotten everything fine. You should just double-check that SpotPass is on, but the teams from the different games come in by SpotPass over time, and seemingly at random over time. Just be patient, they'll show up. As for Spoiler:- Character name(!):
Walhart
you probably do have to beat him for it to show up, but double check that he's not in your Bonus Maps to be sure. You'll have to select him from there to unlock his Paralogue, and you can only fight him basically before the endgame.

You're getting streetpasses at a farmer's market. That's proof enough.
I disconnected and reconnected the Spotpass functionality, used the Update Now option and did in fact get a few new things to show up. The aforementioned Spotpass character chapter and Caeda from Shadow Dragon. Though it would seem there's still a bit of delay or something if Hydrohs has two. Eh, but at least I'm more up to date than I was a few hours ago.

Caeda was the first one I got, that was a couple days ago. So it is very slow.
I've been considering playing some of the older games that have English translations, I'll probably start that next after I finish my current Awakening playthrough.
All the early FEs have translations, though FE5 is a bit iffy.
FE5 also happens to be the best Fire Emblem game ever. Anyone who disagrees is wrong.
Agreed, it's absolutely amazing. The difficulty makes for much more entertaining gameplay and I like the fact it is the sequel to FE7, shame you have to see Marcus again even older :/

I don't think FE5 takes place in the same universe as FE7 & 6...?
Just wanted to let you guys know I'm going to attempt a Lunatic run. Gonna try to have no deaths. I know I said that during my Hard file, but I mean it this time seriously you guys. Pray I don't die. Also I think I'm gonna start another file on Hard so Chrom can marry someone besides Sumia. Because I can.
I'm gonna start a Casual Lunatic mode first because if I did a Classic Lunatic, everyone but Chrom and Avatar would probably be dead :P
Gots to be tactical about it......

Finally beat the final boss on Hard (with no deaths). It was MUCH easier than expected. Now what? Loads of extras and Lunatic difficulty, might as well play those. Then again, there are Pokémon to train...

Fire Emblem is really fun you guys!
Why would you even continue after losing someone?

Trust me, Chrom and the Avatar have no hope when you're first starting out as well.
Though to be fair, the same could be said of all auto-promoted vs. weak-at-first units. Albeit it's now less of a concern in Awakening due to Second Seals.
For me, Archers have been largely hit or miss. I didn't have much love for the Archers in Rekka no Ken, loved Neimi in SS, had mild success with Rolf in PoR, didn't much care for Virion, but loved Noire.
Unless you include Shadow Dragon Wolf and Sedgar and RD Shinon. As for archers, at least we haven't had another archer like Thracia 776 Ronan.

While FE5 totally turns away any casual player, but it is definitely an amazing game. Way more fun than FE4. And Grafcalibur ftw!

Nobody has any hope bar Frederick until maybe Chapter 5. That's still an iffy point in the game though. I actually just beat Lunatic last night and I'll say that Chrom, Avatar and Lucina(mostly her) were lacking by the end of the game. Starting in Chapter 21, Morgan, Lissa, Owain and to a lesser extent, Panne, were the most viable members I had. All my Avatar was good for was Rally Spectrum+Magic.
Double Galeforcing with Morgan(with 2 Nosferatu tomes) and Owain, got me Chapter 21 clear in 3 turns. Morgan also took out almost all of the ~40 enemies in Chapter 23 with the same method, and Galeforcing with Morgan and Lissa got me done with Chapter 25 in 2 turns. The final chapter was done in two turns as well, thanks to a Rally from Avatar and Vengeance+Ignis with Morgan, after taking 40+ damage from an 80% activation Ignis from said boss. I instantly went to check out Lunatic+, and the omnipresent Vantage+ and Pass skills were terrifying. That, and the moment I saw a Myrmidon and Barbarian with Luna+ and Hawkeye, I knew I had no chance. I'll be leaving Lunatic+ alone for a long while.

Both Lunatic and by extension Lunatic+ are way too hardcore for me. What do Vantage+, Hawkeye and Luna+ do? I have some guesses but I'd like to know for sure.
That's correct. Pass was a huge shock to see in the mix. I don't even want to imagine what it will be like when Aegis+ and Pavise+ get into the mix. Though I am curious how later bosses will address two "2 insane skills for every enemy" thing. Some late-game bosses already had 5 skills on Lunatic, so if they replace some skills to buff them even more...yeah...

All the "plus" skills have a 100% activation rate, and Hawkeye is basically Hit Rate +infinity, denoted by an infinity sign on the skill.
