How old were you when you started playin pokemon?

4. Got Blue for Christmas and threw a book (and then a ball) at my brother's head to see if I could catch him. I had a Pikachu plushie and sent him out to battle. My dreams came true as I was in a (sorta) real life Pokemon battle.

I started watching the anime when I was 3. But it stopped playing so I wasn't into Pokemon that much anymore. (It started playing again last year)
Then I started playing the games when I was 8 (got Diamond) and I've been in to Pokemon again ever since.

I was about 6 when my brother and I first went round our neighbour's house, who showed us pokemon Silver and Gold. We both played it and started and went and bought are own versions. (I don't remember much about gold. I was only little and couldn't play properly.)

I think it arrived in the UK around 1998, so I was 4. I remember it being so huge back then. Every single child in school had pokemon cards, if you didn't you weren't cool. I didn't have them to start with, but my brother was in high school and he said that the craze was so big that kids were breaking out of school at lunch and break times to head to the shop to buy them, they used to sneak around the town to hide from teachers. So he got me my first pack of cards, however, at that time, only 1 pokemon mattered to me, Pikachu. I wanted a Pikachu card so badly that one of the older kids in Primary school tricked me into giving him all my cards for a Pikachu card, but he didn't give me the card, he just took mine and run off. I also remember my friend stealing a huge pack of cards that a teacher had found, held them up saying "whose pokemon cards are these?" and he then said they were his, he got so many shinies, the teacher then shouted at him for bringing them to school, but he didn't care, he had a some rare cards. Eventually the cards got banned, but that was okay. BECAUSE WE HAD THE GAMES THEN. So we were all bringing in the games to school, and battling and trading with each other. That was a great time. I gave up on the series for Hoenn when it was no longer cool, but came back like a year before the release of Fire Red and Leaf Green and brought it back, then left again, but ever since the release of DP, I've not lost interest in it.

I was 4. I mainly secretly played on my older brother's file (which he despised me for) until I got Pokemon Red for my Birthday the following year.
