Pseudo-Legendary Pokemon

Remember back in the first generation when you were sure Dragonite was a legendary? Or in the second generation whenyou tried to convince your buddies that Tyranitar was up there with Ho-Oh and Lugia? Well, you were wrong, along with myself. However, these two and many others are in the category, Pseudo-Legendaries. Pseudo-Legendaries are, according to Bulbapedia, defined as " ...any Pokémon that has a three-stage evolution line, two types, has 1,250,000 Exp. at Level 100, as well as a base stat total of 600. Pseudo-legendary Pokémon are often more powerful than other non-legendary Pokémon, possibly due to their high base stats. All pseudo-legendary Pokémon have Attack or Special Attack as their highest stat."

These include:
Dragonite
Tyranitar
Salamence
Metagross
Garchomp
Hydreigon

Discussions here will include the pseudo-legendaries themselves, legandaries that should be demoted to pseudo, regular pokemon that should be promoted to pseudo, and anything related to those topics.

um, i think volcarona should be on that list, it kills..and not just my opinion. And Arcanine is called the "Ledgendary" Pokemon

Volcarona is a boss, but Arcanine in better in my mind.

well I don't believe that any of the legendaries should be demoted to pseudo as they are that way for a reason. However I think pseudo-legendaries were made originally to give you a rare and powerful pokemon that took ages to train. This way you had something to combat the legendaries effectively when you encountered them. Just my 2 cents.

I pretty much agree. I love having my Dragonite for them in Kanto.

Volcarona would be one if it only had another evolution, and 50 more base stat total. Haxorus meets all of the requirements except for Base stat total and 2 types. Infact, his raw power puts him extreemly close to that catagory.

There are all these definite rules like the Pokemon has to be three stage, total adds up to 600 and what not... I always thought there should be a better way to class them cause some of them like Kingdra, Volcarona, Gyrados, Haxorus, etc are awesome but don't get the special recognition they deserve. They should be the pseudo-pseudo legendaries!

TBH, when i encountered volcarona in my white game i really thought it was a legendary pokemon until i saw that champion alder also had one.

i would think slaking would be one, it's so strong they had to give the ability traunt to keep it from being completely overpowered. if it didn't have traunt, it would seriousl rock some worlds.
it's got 3 evolutions, and required experience, and massive stats so why isn't it pseudo?

I think Arcanine and Rhyperior are just a little bit underpowered then the psuedos~

But they are still a force to be reckoned with.

For Slaking, I think that it is a very powerful pokemon (ask my emerald team if slaking is hard, and they will say yes). Yet just not enough power.

None. To be honest, this 'pseudo-legendary Pokémon' label is one of the stupidest things on the franchise.
