Or, you know...Rest in Peace...Path to Exile...any non-graveyard removal.
So I'm trying to get a 2 headed giant tournament at my local shop. I'm thinking Slivers but I don't have a winged Sliver.
I suggested Modern. (Slivers hehehe)
But then you wouldn't be able to play half of the slivers (the good half). Since most are only Vintage/Legacy-legal.
Well, you get Sinew and Gemhide at least, and Gemhide alone is a huge boon. I, um, guess you get Basal and can charge up for some huge spell? Shame there's not a lot of things that create sliver tokens.
Sadly, no Magma Sliver to buff a Shadow Sliver...
Sliver Legion, Sliver Overlord. Those are fun.
Yeah...but in a Sliver deck you're gonna want to go aggro as hell. You're not really going to want to cast those big guys. You want a bazillion little slivers, each making the other stronger, and then just...kill.
Thats true, but I can ramp and I have a Hivestone. So that can help with ramping.
Sliver Overlord's not in Modern. However, I do recommend four Gemhides, four Sinews, four Homings, and possibly four Shadows? Actually, you could probably build this as modern pauper (where I imagine all these shenanigans wouldn't be legal anyway). Reflex Sliver might be good, too, but it's no Heart Sliver, that's for sure.
I thought it was Modern. ooohhh well, I'm sure I can build a good modern sliver deck that 5 colored.
Much as I like Slivers, they're a fairly limited design space. You may as well just print a set of lords; at least then you'd have some creature type variance.
Plus, it would be a really awful limited environment. You'd just be waiting for whoever draws the Sliver that gives Xwalk or unblockable or Goblin War Drums or whatever.
Building a Boros/Orzhoz deck. I'm also throwing in some Rakdos shenanigans in there.

Apparently, according to multiple sources, the mythic land from Dragon's Maze has been spoiled. No name or picture, but the ability.
T: Add (1) to your mana pool
(3), T, Return ~ to its owner's hand: Search your library for a Gate card, put it onto the battlefield, then shuffle your library. If you control ten or more Gates with different names, you win the game.
What do you think?
I'm pretty sure it's...
I can't even imagine playing it. First and foremost, you'd need to be playing Guildgates over Taplands, Shocklands, or Basics...and that's just...not really advisable. Second, you can't even start using this without 3 other mana on the field. Maybe you can accelerate into its ability, but that's Turn 3 at the earliest. And then you're stuck with just playing that one land over and over. Guildgates enter the battlefield Tapped, so you don't even get a mana use out of it.
And did I mention that you have to play Guildgates?
Unless they have a card in Dragon's Maze that makes Gates more playable, I don't see this getting played...at all.
I'll play it because I'm an idiot.
Old news is old. It's been spoiled for ages.
Well, the Gates were always the thing that these sets were SUPPOSED to push but never really did. However, there are quite a few cards that synchronize with Gates, not to mention those Defender cards that were pushed in RTR (mostly) which can stall and build a nice mana base and can work in tandem with gates.
Overall, it's an isntant win con. It's convoluted and hard to pull off, as nearly all of the instant win con cards (anyone remember darksteel reactor? Yeah, 20 charge counters, even with Charge counter generatours, still meant you had to play a loooong and quite possibly boring game, and it still saw plenty of use. Its the oldest example I can think off, though) but it's playable. Somehow, someway, someone will make a great deck out of it.
If nothign else, for the same reason people play Door To Nothingness decks: For the lolz.
(Now that I think about it, playing multiple gates facilitates 5 color shenanigans, which means the Mythic Land and Door to Nothingness might see play in the same deck)
Yeah, but there are already 5-color decks that don't have to rely on running bad lands. You can make any color combination you want right now, what with 20 different dual lands available and Chromatic Lantern to top it all off.
I found my Darksteel Reactor!!!! But anyway I will successfully make a deck based around that Mythic land.
Farseek...obviously...Searches for all the shocklands you'd ever want! Most search cards only search for basic lands or lands of a certain type. Farseek breaks that mold a little bit.
Though there's also Gatecreeper Vine...I suppose...
