I love all forms of rock music. I've been obsessed with Shiny Toy Guns since I was 16 or 17, I'm 23 now. They have inspired me in so many ways. Say what you will, but they are my favorite rock band of all time.

I think it's stupid how The Puritan is missing from Blur 21 but Under the westway is there (even though it's a remix in a way).
I wonder if any other bands will make a box like that like Oasis and I wonder what will happen to the masterplan if that happens.

I ****ing love Three Days Grace. I finally listened to Chalk Outline with Matt though and his voice is waaay too high for it.. not growly enough either.. sounded terrible.

I'm really starting to strongly dislike the new Muse album.

It's rubbish. You should have started disliking it sooner. But then again, I hate Muse a lot, so I would say these things.

    Yikes.

I saw TDG in concert back in 09' and they were wonderful, one of the first concets I went to actually.

Ehhh, I'll admit it's not as good as past albums. But it's still pretty good. Although I am getting tired of hearing Survival almost everywhere I go.

    ---

I quite like alternative rock; my favorite band is Modest Mouse, but I also really like The National, Muse, Mumford & Sons (I think they count. So inb4 too folk), Beirut, and the Mountain Goats (Folk rock.). I also really like Nirvana and Nine Inch Nails. Hngh. Also Radiohead holy man.

I didn't like it that much to start with but it keeps getting worse. I absolutely love Muse's older stuff but I don't think I'm gonna buy anything they make anymore.

I agree, there are some great songs (Supremacy, the instrumentals in Survival, Explorers and Animals) but I skip almost everything else just to get to those songs.

I like the two Second Law tracks as well.

The 2nd Law is my favorite album by Muse. It may lacks awesome songs but at least it's listenable.

i like a few songs off Absolution but a lot of it feels filler-y to me, i don't think i can go past Origin of Symmetry as their best

I think Absolution is their best as well. It does what it's supposed to do better than Muse's other albums, other than maybe OoS I guess but I just don't like the way it sounds

So I was riding in my brothers car and we ended up listening to Zebrahead's album Waste of Mind. And I am all like **** this is pretty good. It's rather catchy rap/pop punk at it's wort and the better songs seem to sounds pretty awesome with their pulling from other genres and some interesting sounding guitar melodies.

Anyway, I am always on the lookout for new bands, does anyone know of any good bands that combine jazz fusion and neoclassical style playing. That has songs under 10 minutes with singing, (I know there are a few prog listeners in this thread so maybe someone might actually have some suggestions.)

King Crimson? I think most of the people on this thread know them better than me but I like what they've heard and they fit what you're looking for.

Starless is my favorite by them.

yeah, def check out King Crimson, here are some songs:

    Cirkus from Lizard
Picture of a City from In The Wake Of Poseidon
21st Century Schizoid Man from In The Court of the Crimson King

they also have a lot of great songs that run in excess of 10 minutes, if you're willing to stomach those get the 3 albums mentioned above + Islands, Larks' Tongues In Aspic, Starless And Bible Black. i can't make any recommendations beyond that though, that's as far as i've heard

edit: you might also enjoy The Mars Volta. i am not really very familiar with their catalogue, but definitely recommend getting De-Loused In The Comatorium (my favourite off this album), and Frances The Mute (song). Fenix will definitely be able to recommend these guys further if you find those songs interesting.

edit 2: not sure how i forgot Steven Wilson, but you might dig his second album, Grace for Drowning (and his third, oficially unreleased one). it's got some cool jazzy piano work and features Theo Travis heavily who does a lot of sax & flute work, this is my favourite from the album
