Well now me VR is 10,014ish IIRC, so proud of my golden kart Anyway some of you guys should come back and race sometime, we might get a decent group going...

I did have around 7-8k until I sold it ages ago. I now bought it back about a week ago and have around 2300

Once Aveil finds her game (hopefully) and Lamia buys it again, we could get an 8 player race going. We had 5-6 people racing the other day.

Mines 1:54ish on RR. I tried those WR lines and i always tend to screw up near the end.

And I did ask yesterday but no-one replied, how can I race / see the top times on time trials and times that friends have set? Mine just comes up with random times (most are worse than mine).

Most if not all the time it will bring up random people trials. So the #1 time in your list is most likely not the #1 in the world. The only way you could race your friends Times (For me at least) is to street pass them in real life.
