Luck is really needed. But skill is a small part. It's the other way round on Time Trials.

It's a balance between skill and luck. You can't luck your way to three 1st places in a row, you can skill it.

I'd be interested in any tournament.

I'm in provided it doesn't start until December, and also if I can fix my R button.

I had the same with my L-button. The way I fixed it was by blowing in it. Hope this helps.

Both of my L and R buttons are fine and that's through near 300 hours of MK7 and KI:U.

That's not quite applicable to mine, I must have had it in my pocket and scraped it against a wall or something. The right trigger and the corner behind it look slightly chewed up, and it's just deformed enough to sometimes stick in. Getting a scrap of paper wedged in the seam next to it can help but the paper tends to fall out.

I'm quite surprised that's the only problem with it really. I think my DSi took less then a month for its left trigger to pack in.
