Do coins only appear in Grand Prix, or are they in other modes too? :L (discounting coin runners obviously)

They do appear in other modes, at least I think so. They appeared in Time Trials, I believe, so that also helps your speed and possibly overall coin count to buy things.

Don't know if this has been confirmed yet or not , but the Official North American site has confirmed that you can choose any of your Miis on your 3DS to play as. Glad to hear that since that it was only the one you have selected as your main icon for the save file in Mario Kart Wii. Other than that , There is a new comerical for the game released by North America. I do though have to say that the comerical ain't that good as the Cowboy Jed comericals for Mario Kart Wii. Though it seems like the previous Mario commercials that has kids dressed up as some of the characters in the game.

I watched parts of the above videos, so to not ruin it too much for me.
The 3DS Rainbow Road looks amazing. I just saw a snippet of when Toad glides onto the planet's rings- which looks great. I've also been cleared of my doubts for the SNES Rainbow Road, which looks really good.
Judging by the courses, I'm starting to think that the 3DS Lightning Cup will be the best one yet.

oh hey the US site updated. And unlike the PAL site, they just show everything other than the final cups.
They even have artwork for all the racers. Oddly, all the veterans have all-new artwork; no MAJOR changes, but different poses than the stock art. How odd, I figured they'd just use the old stocks like with Wii and such.

Cheep Cheep Lagoon/Cheep Cheep Cape, Royal Ribbon/Birthday Girl, Parafoil/Paraglider...
Also, the site says that VS Modeis multiplayer only, I seriously hope that's an error.

I didn't even know Vs Mode was ever playable by a single person. Any time I wanted Mario Kart I either did GP or TT; with Wii I did Wi-Fi. VS was always just local for me and I assumed it was always a solely-local deal.
Imagine my surprise when I found out that this was suddenly a "thing" that people were mad at.
And, yeah, for whatever reason the PAL & US games have this tendency to not share kart/track names for some reason. in MKWii, like every other bike/kart had a different name.
