You get a boost when Lakitu drops you back on the track and you hit the acceleration button right when you touch the ground.

Ok, but I still don't get why some people boost straight after they fall and some get rescued by Lakitu...

Also, for some reason i'm getting Wi-Fi opponents with around 3,000-7,500 VR. Must be my luck and bad timing to join Wi-Fi races with these people. Very hard!

Is your VR around 2000-3000? Because mine is and I tend to race people with higher VR.

No, some are lag, but there are hackers. Here's an example:

In Luigi's Mansion, a player went off course and into the grass after getting hit by a Blue Shell and as soon as they recovered from the shell, they just suddenly appeared on track with a boost.

Easy to catch people before joining a race with the live (cam)

He could have had a mushroom, considering that the Blue Shell doesn't destroy your stock item in this game. Plus, Blue Shells are avoidable with a well used mushroom. That could be a possibility.

That's just the boost start for pressing the acceleration as soon as you touch the floor. Unfortunately, unlike the Wii, I've been unable to master this :/

I think the idea of the online is to group you as such, so no one really has a significant skill advantage over the other players. My VR's a bit higher now, so I get placed with some real tough cookies.

As soon as the shell drops, use a mushroom. It goes the same speed as the driver untill it drops which is why you can't out run it with boost.

Yep. I have 2,501 VR. I plan to get 500 a day until I reach 10,000.

Mine is 2701. I doubt I'll get to 2800 today. I have to get 1 star in 4 more mirror cups and I'll have a star, Woo. Then I might get my VR up and earn some points as my next part unlock isn't until about 200 coins more.

@Jay, yeah I misread his post lol. There was something time where I was in the middle of getting a item, got hit by the Blue Shell and kept the item though. It might me random or something.

Thats just the mechanic now, you keep your items if you're hit by a blue shell, bob-omb or bullet bill.

I have done the boost start, its just not something I can do regulary.

Finally decided to get off my arse and get my VR to 3000.

Also, outpassed some guy abusing the Wuhu glitch even though I played it properly, SO SATISFYING.

I would imagine some of them got into the waiting game for the mushroom and waited too long and by the time they used it, it was too late. Also people who use it generally are'nt that skilled so they could probably have been easy to catch up.

Screw it, I'll tell you. Very close to the first lap's end, there's an abyss that is blocked by a rock fence to the water pool. If you turn around just right, you can jump over the rock fence to drown into the water. Doing this somehow makes the game take you on the starting point of the last lap.

Doing this somehow makes the game take you on the starting point of the last lap.

Its because if you fall of the cliff you end up in that pool so it takes you back to where it assumes you fell off.

Yeah you don't need a Mushroom to do the glitch. Just jump into the Purple liquid without hitting the rock.

There was three of us not abusing the glitch and we kind of completley item trolled him since he was last to use it. And then someone got him with a blue shell and he came last. It was pretty funny.
