    Default Yanmega Disscusion

    Boredom= thread time.

    Tier: RU
    Stats:
    86/76/86/116/56/95

    Notable moves:
Bug Buzz / Giga Drain / Air Slash / U-turn / HP Fire
    Other Moves:
HP Fighting / Psychic / Shadow Ball / Protect

    Abilities:
Tinted Lens: "Not very effective" moves have their power doubled.
Speed Boost: Speed increases one stage each turn

With two of the most threatening abilities in the game, its no wonder that Yanmega is ripping RU to shreds. With tinted lens, Yanmega spams Bug Buzz in the faces of opponents who watch their resists go to waste. With choice specs, Yanmega can 2HKO the majority of the metagame. Tinted Bug & fighting coverage gives perfect neutral coverage, so Yanmega's two other moveslots are usually occupied by U-turn for fleeing from special walls, and a filler.

Alternately, Speed Boost boost is like a better scarf without the drawback. After one turn setup with protect or detect, Yanmega outruns almost the entire meta. Otherwise fast Pokemon with rock moves can wipe the floor with him.

I think the problem with Yanmega is the frailty of it; one flamethrower and it's dead, and a lot of power hitters in the metagame have access to high special attack moves.

I would think it would be murdered by priority as well that can rip through the defensive's if your not careful, or cripple it with paralysis.

Thinking aloud about how well it does on paper in the new RU. This is assuming I'm using the max Speed Choice Specs set with Tinted Lens. Bolded are pokemon that can give it trouble based on typing or speed. It does seem to be able to counter a lot of the Grass and Psychics, but it needs help to take down the Fire types (SR support?).

I love Yanmega. I use the Choice Specs Tinted Lens Set, it can sweep or at least severely damage something.

I usually lead with her (Yes I use a female Yanmega) to get around the Stealth Rock weakness. She can usually KO their lead and damage their next Pokemon as well.

It's the best Pokemon of it's poor typing (Oh why couldn't you have been Bug/Dragon~)

It can tear through teams that are not prepared for it, but Stealth Rock keeps it from wrecking place.

Bug dragon would have been pretty, sweet because than Dragon Pulse would be completely unresisted with Tinted Lens.
What Speed EVs do you usually use for TintedYanmega?

Just as an FYI, Yanmega is up for a quick ban from RU. And for good reason too. Tinted Lens Specs Yanmega is pretty much the reason to use it, and it 2HKOs so much stuff in RU effortlessly that it's not even funny.

If it had a move to increase its Sp. Atk at will, he would probably be in OU w/ Speed Boost, but lack of that and a versatile movepool keep in RU while his benefits could get him moved to UU.
