Well, I usually hear people talk about how good they were and how they weren't like the stupid gross humor in today's cartoons. (Dunno how accurate that accusation is considering I don't watch cartoons anymore.) I guess people can't see past their Nostalgia Glasses sometimes.

I obviously remembered what Rocko's Modern Life and Ren & Stimpy were, but I wasn't 100% sure if I ever saw Cow and Chicken before, so I looked it up on Wikipedia. The moment I saw the name "Red Guy" images of his shiny red as came pouring back into my mind. Oh, and then I remembered Mom and Dad having their torsos ripped off or something. Good stuff, that.

To be honest, there were a lot of cartoons in the 90s that were stupid enough to make me cringe. That remains true to this day. A minor difference is there was also a large portion of cartoons that were actually well-written, and you could tell the writers put a lot of effort into the story they were tasked with presenting. There is noticeably less of them these days. I can name a few where that spirit of effort is alive. Hopefully that number will increase with time.

    Yes, I'm still lurking. Howdy.

It's not a larger portion at all, there are just significantly less cartoons being made. Broadcast has mostly stopped showing stuff and some cable channels have moved away from cartoons a bit as well. People really tend to forget the whole broadcast thing, there were some greats gems and completely forgettable stuff there.

I'm sure glad that Serebii made an announcement reassuring me of my safety though. How would I be able to sleep at night otherwise!

I don't think most of SPPF is old enough to grow proper neckbeards.

It's a shame that it's not the first half of the last century and none of them have acting skills.

You don't need acting skills to cosplay.

Fair point, but judging by some events I, friends, and various internet users have attended, not acting like a goddamned animal in a public place does. Or at least requires something else a lot of people lack.

I've done security at an anime con before, wacky ones are really not that bad. They are just letting of some steam and are generally pretty co-operative. Now the more high strung ones, they do not like being inconvenienced in the slightest and seem to expect everyone to accommodate them. They are the reason I tend to dislike cosplay.

This being in my experience anyway.

    cosplay is evil.

it's cool that you're having fun and stuff but at least try to look like the character. not some fat guy cosplaying a magical girl because people do this a lot.

seriously, some people also be stinking at the cons. they should have a hygiene rule.

I keep forgetting that's just the way things have always been.

But I mean, security is really just a state of mind really. It's not like anyone's gonna try something funny, right?
