After the chocking restrictive pace of Black and White, more space between gyms doesn't sound too bad.

But I'll reserve judgement until at least pokeearth is nice and full or walkthroughs are up, since the narrow level range between some of the gym leaders looks kind of weird.

I am pretty picky when it comes to pacing in pokemon games. (I am pretty picky when it comes to the single player game in general)

Speaking of pacing vs. BW, I think they took out that stupid ****ing EXP scaling thing that was in fifth gen where you got less experience as your levels go up.

Which is great, because that was the ABSOLUTE WORST PART of the fifth gen.

so i am totally liking the way they set up ev training. its perfect for those who want the singleplayer game experience but still want some of the competitive vibe into it.

I didn't like that either. It sounds like a good idea on paper, since it can prevent overleveling and making the game too easy. But in practice it just makes leveling up newly caught pokemon a pain in the butt. Because there is a considerable gap between wild and trained pokemon's levels, you start getting diminishing returns before you're pokemon are even properly ready to face trainers.

And apparently I heard from my brother who got X, that the game is still pretty linear and railroady. Which is a dissapointment because that was my least favorite part about gen 5 and was hoping the would fix it.

I actually liked the experience scaling in Unova, and miss it now. =x

Man, Zangoose and Seviper are too realistic. I can only find them in hordes, and all the Seviper gang up on the Zangoose so that I can never get Zangoose by itself! I even trained a Drifloon, thinking that Ominous Wind would hit all the Seviper and leave Zangoose alone, but apparently Ominous Wind is still a one-target-only attack in horde battles. >_<

    Well played, GameFreak.

I decided that I want to collect all the Vivillon patterns. I really want an Ocean Pattern Vivillon, so if anyone lives in Hawaii, send me a Scatterbug. :(

Patterns? What? I still haven't started my game because I can't decide which starter to pick. This is the first time this has ever happened.

Someone gave me a Chespin in wonder trade, and in return, I gave them a Panpour.

This game just makes me happy in general. All the new features with good fixes to problem in 5th gen make me smile. Espicially since I can ACTUALLY use the GTS to fill my pokedex. Espicially Super Training. I'm super training all the pokes in my team before they get any EVs in battle so that they are good in Gyms and other things. In terms of efficiency though I feel like Just grinding the wild with Pokerus + Power Item is much faster.

in previous gens the gts wouldnt let you search for pokemon you didnt already have in your dex but iirc this gen you can, right? so you can use it to fill your dex instead of only being able to trade for things youve seen before

i havent used it yet and probably wont use it much but it's a nice feature

I only have the second badge as well but goodness I'm having fun with the game. Except for the fact that my Eevee keeps getting knocked out. I will train that sucker yet. I've got nothing going on irl now and I have a flight so I might as well be pokemoning.

My team so far (about to fight the third Gym Leader):

    Chespin Lvl 45
    Talonflame Lvl 43
    Helioptile Lvl 43

Chespin learns so many great and fun moves I just can't decide what to teach it, wow. I want this guy to know everything, hah.

I had a Polar Vivillon for Stun Spore and Struggle Bug - captures and horde wins - but since Helioptile has Thunderwave and a couple of multi-target moves, I boxed it. Shame that the early Bug types are always so weak, because Vivillon's awesome.

I see a correlation. Anyway, I'm going into the third gym. It seems there is going to be quite the scale in levels from here on out.

Damn son. But yes, Vivillon looks pretty boss, I wish it was stronger.

To find that guy, you actually have to defy logic and walk towards the Pokemon League. Don't worry, the guards will stop you and the trainers at that path to the checkpoint are relatively low leveled.

    In other news, Team Post!
    Helioptile (Helios) L.23
Pancham (named him Po after the Kung Fu Panda) L.31
    Gardevoir L.30
    Braixen (Firefox) L.32
    Fletchinder (Arclight) L.32
    Hexcalibur (Honedge) L.31

Also, anyone knows the moveset of Gardevoir this generation? It's L.30 and I still don't see any Fairy moves on it. (Having to rely on Magical Leaf for coverage is lame, guys)

Huh, mine was the exact opposite: there's 4 Zangoose and 1 Seviper. You think people would trade Sevipers for Zangoose?
