Reading manga in class? Hopefully you cover that up with a notebook, cause that would explain why people would be negative towards you. No offense, but I always saw it as a more personal thing to do, reading manga or watching Anime.

You should be allowed to read anything you want in class without judgement as long as it's not against the school rules. I don't see why it should be a personal thing.

The way people act about it is all. I read a tons of it, but its not like I have it part of my social life or in school. I view it as another hobby, and hobbies for me are thing to do in your free/alone time and nothing more.

this is a good sentence. people who form their identity around a single hobby are usually weirdos because they are obsessive about the one thing and can't connect to anyone else socially that doesn't share that one interest (in this case the vast majority of the students)

Exactly. Clinging to one thing just allows yourself to fall deeper and deeper down a rabbit hole you dug for yourself. While I do believe Anti-Social people do exist, I feel that a lot of what's wrong with the adolescent majority who claim to be anti-social are just people who have not developed enough interests to allow themselves to viably co-exist with other humans.

I love a lot of things. Anime, reading, writing, history, science, art, music, and other stuff like that.
I live in New Jersey, all girls my age are just interested in one direction, justin bieber, and doing things they shouldn't be doing.
And get this, they all wear sesame street pajamas and costumes!

It might be double standards, but I honestly do believe when it comes to being a female its harder to fit in cause of being in fashion and trends being a much more dominant part of their lives. But for guys, I dunno, if you can grasp a sport and find someone who listens to what you do you just blend in. Trends and in fashion do exist, but they're more together and just another group for guys then what they are in female terms.

LMAO. I was just going to say that, but I decided to read the other posts first to see if someone beat me to it.

But yeah, HetaOni, you have a serious case of "I'm a special snowflake" going on.

Yeaaaah... while I agree that people who give you crap over what you like should shut the **** up, you really do have a tone of superiority and special-snowflake status about yourself that you really should tone down a little.

Then again, I'm saying this as a card game player, which puts me even lower on the food chain.

Seriously, though... Whining about being judged, then judging other girls? Hypocrisy much?

I know what it's like in my school because I go to it.

That seems to be going a bit far. Nothing wrong with talking about hobbies that you have in common with someone, provided you aren't turning into a long-winded lecture.
