I know that all are fine in moderation (well, maybe not some drugs, but anyway,) but the extent to which they are used is ridiculous. For example, here is the Facebook profile pic of someone I know.

EDIT: It's not showing up... wah...

I don't... oh, wait, you said straight...
I said straight specifically so you couldn't say I was wrong. I believe the only drug that should be legal is mary-jane.

Yeah I drink too but in extreme moderation. Getting blitzed isn't as fun as kiddies think!

Marijuana should indeed be legal (I've been to San Fransisco, where it's not illegal and EVERYONE does it. Well, most I met in that one bar, anyway). That reminds me, dive bars are fun.

I remain very much myself when drunk, whether I've had one or ten lagers. I get a little more giggly, and a bit more amorous, but I believe that's mostly just psychosomatic. But I remember everything, I don't get all "ilu man" or "f*ck you, man" or anything. I have high tolerance.

And now I want a margarita. Or a Killian's Irish Red. Or a Cape Cod (man that dive had a great margarita)

How about instead of this passive aggressive nonsense you get a little confrontational and call them out on it.

People have before. To little effect.

Not that there necessarily should be any effect. Everyone visiting the forum can elect a different theme color, and AlphaPup's font color might show up much better on his chosen theme color. It's an inconvenience to us, but it's his choice. We can highlight the text to see it, or we can change our own theme if we're really that interested, or we can ignore it.

Also, nice to see you posting again, Gladys. ^_^

I definitely agree, Gladys is one of the few entertaining posters here.

Does the forum software not have an option to disallow custom colors?

You are not. I just ignore every post made by him as though it was not made. Only when someone quotes something said that I feel a need to comment on do I acknowledge his existence on the forum.

Basically this. I also consider grass to be basically harmless, with some medical benefits, too! Most of it's backstabbed by the fact that the favorite way of taking it in is to smoke it, though.

He kind of did, as much as he could without getting moderation guff. I think.

Smart guy. Though I haven't seen much from him in the way of quality postings.

Then again, I haven't seen much from him at all! HA HA!

I guess you can say that. I start posting last night and already find myself in hot water. I guess things have changed from the days when I openly mocked other posters in my signature.

Yeah. I'd argue we're much more tempered, but then again I tend to be pro-order.

    It's a good thing you're not a lobster.

In other news, if any of you General Chatters are interested in learning, the mind, education, or philosophy, would you take a look at the "Learning Theories" thread I posted in Debates? It's a question I'm working on for a class right now and I'd appreciate discussing the ideas here with the best and brightest of SPPf. Kind of like House and his team doing a differential diagnosis, come to think of it. ^_^

Nah, that thread's too smart for me. I'm staying back. But then, it'd be a welcome change from the brain-cell-mass-murder that is the NORMAL Debate thread content...

Collateral damage. No pain no gain. Gotta give a little to get a little.

Bah, I'm just tossing out slogans. They don't much mean anything.

But I do think that subjecting your ideas to criticism anneals them, so to speak. Sometimes the end result of a debate (or argument, or discussion, whatever you want to call it) is a better understanding of the landscape of ideas involving the topic, or even a new perspective on your own perspective. Even one well-posed query can lead to the re-evaluation and improvement of one's knowledge. That's the kind of thing I hold out hope for when I participate in debates, anyway.

If post count doesn't matter, why do we keep track of it?

EDIT: Also I am working on my report to the board about why we must eliminate signatures. Is there anyone with a particularly egregious signature that I may not know about?

For a while, it wasn't displayed. I don't know if there's a way to remove it entirely, other than to make all forums not count for postcount. Actually, the ranking system feels like it could probably be scrubbed; wouldn't that save some space and bandwidth, especially with the little tags removed? Since I know that's an issue here sometimes.

    Right here.

Yours is not even that bad, considering it doesn't take up the entirety of the damn page like some others I've seen.

True, it's more that I'm being a smartass, which is about all the job skills I have. I know there are quite a few in the particularly bad space-eating way, but then... I also feel like the sig rules go underenforced here at times.

Yup, definitely gotta be open minded or else you look like an ignorant fool. Accepting one's idea can better your own arguments and help you understand something even more.

I may look into your thread, i've got 4 hours until my next class.

Nah, I get what you're getting at. It's nice that you're bringing in something that could have intelligent discussion in it; it's really hard to see most things in Religion Thread 23642 or Gay People Thread 37701 or Liberals vs Conservatives Thread, pt. 9001 as being "intelligent," but those are subjects that tend to invite terse responses grounded in emotion instead of legitimate thought.

Yeah it's awful, so I've decided not to show my sig in case it offends anyone this time. Don't worry, folks.
