I don't find those songs boring. However, I do find them pretty bad. (Though the second one is much better than the first, though that's not saying much.)

If I was supreme dictator I would deport all hipsters to the outermost reaches of Siberia. Temperate climates are a bit too mainstream.

Alpha Sapphire --> Arceus is the Alpha pokemon --> Arceus is a generation 4 pokemon --> Sinnoh confirmed!!

(Yeah, get used to it now, because this is what you're going to have to put up with for the next 5-7 years)

Depending on the tune. But there are a lot of songs like "Exile Vilify." Can't think of much use for something like that except as a sleep aid, and even then...

That said, I'm not hipster bashing. Sure they listen to boring music and wear ridiculous outfits, but they're not hurting anyone (except for themselves when they wear those hideously ugly things that American Apparel sells.) Everyone follows regrettable trends at some point.
I pretty much have a strong distaste for American Apparel.

I found both of those songs boring. To each their own. Plenty of people hate the stuff I listen to.

That is a stupid sentence. And I'm not even the biggest indie rock fan. You could replace "indie rock" with hip-hop, metal, folk, country or anything and it'd still be a stupid sentence.

Time for a real fact: generalizations are stupid. Especially when it comes to music genres.

But "indie" isn't really a genre that you can listen to and say you can hear that the music is indie. Saying all indie rock sucks is like saying there is no street musician with talent. Also, opinions, not facts.

Yeah. I just kind of think it's one of the most uninteresting songs I've ever heard in my life.

Indie shouldn't be considered a distinct genre. Not all independent rock groups have such a similar sound.

I never got all the hype over that album. I tried listening to it and it isn't that good IMO.

On another note, Mr. Trololo died today.

Hmmm they're a pretty homogeneous group.

All the "hipsters" I have met were actually nice people.
    That's settled that then huh?

I found your musical selection ITT interesting ironically. The bland and unassuming vocals really speak to me on a whole different level.

It's partially because it is a critically acclaimed album so it is going to show up on a lot of recommendation lists. This also means it's oftentimes peoples first exposure to indie, so its going to get a little more hype from those people as well. Then those people recommend it to other people etc. It's sort of like a chain reaction, and once the ball gets rolling it is hard to stop it.

In the world of popular music you can't just be talented you also have to have hype. Most people can't listen to you if they haven't heard of you.

The first song speaks to me because it reminds me of this. The singer totally sounds like Brian Posehn.

    What are assuming vocals like?

Eduard Khil, known to most people here solely for being "Mr. Trololo" or similarly, has passed on today. Far fewer folks would have known if some idiot on the internets hadn't heard a song as containing an internets catch phrase.

Which is another thing that pisses me off about (some) hipsters. They seem to have this conceit about bands being lesser known being better, almost as if implying that that makes them better. Are these bands going to become worse if suddenly tomorrow everyone starts listening to them? And aren't you spreading them by noting their existence and telling other people about how good they are?

Again, I've been around dicky hipsters mostly, so.

The first song speaks to me because it reminds me of this. The singer totally sounds like Brian Posehn.
I also don't usually like Brian Posehn.

    this is the best

To dream the impossible dream, to fight the unbeatable foe
To bear with unbearable sorrow. To run where the brave dare not go.
To try when your arms are too weary. To reach the unreachable star!
This is my quest! To follow that Star! No matter how hopeless, no matter how far
To fight for the right, without question or pause, to be willing to march into hell for a heavenly cause!
And The world will be better for this, that one man, scorned and covered with scars still strove to his last ounce of courage.
    To reach, that unreachable star!
