In my younger days I always felt anxious because I felt like I had to binge when there was a lot of food around. Now i'm usually content to eat until I feel satisfied. Pizza binges are still fun though![]()

Ahaha! This actually reminds me of someone's status update last year, when they said something along the lines of how they don't like christmas nowadays because it's 'so commercialised'. I'm not sure of what kind of time frame you're referring to with 'nowadays', but the fact of the matter is is that Christmas hasn't been predominantly about religion for your whole life, and for decades before that.
Sure, in our house we used to have a little manger/barn where we'd put in the little ornaments of the three wise men and the like, and we were taught at school about why Christmas occurs each year, but at the end of the day it's always been about the gifts and commercialisation for decades. It's not worth complaining about when you've never experienced it, it's just that you probably didn't recognise it before ^_~

I'm not surprised you haven't posted in this thread yet. Judging by your posts here you probably weigh 200+ lbs.
I hate tipping people just because I'm a student! I'm not supposed to have extra money to be dishing out!!! I've heard that in America they actually give a certain percentage of how much you have to tip at a restaurant. I'm glad that's not the case here. You could leave without tipping but then you get the evil looks.
In America its 15%. You technically don't have to tip, but you might get the stink eye for not doing so. I've never been one for compulsory tipping though. I feel it should be something you give only if the waiter/waitress gave excellent service. I hate it when people automatically expect tips for doing a sub par job.
I've heard about the whole tipping thing in America too. My brother was annoyed he had to tip so much when he went to New York. Here, we don't really have to tip at all, unless you want to.
If you're strapped for cash then there's really not much you can do anyway.
One of the main justifications for tipping i've heard is that waiters/waitresses get paid less than minimum wage in some places, so that way the cost of the waiter/waitress's wages are passed on to the consumer which is then used so restaurants can serve food at lower prices.
Tipping is 10%. 5 or none if the service was poor and 15 if exceptional. Simple. You're showing them appreciation, not trying to bone them.
