My car got stuck getting out of my driveway onto the cul-de-sac. Had to get the neighbors to push it back into the driveway. Went out with the SUV and had use every inch of the all-wheel drive capability to get out of my subdivision. All the snow has frozen into mounds of dirt basically.

-14 here in A2. -41 is the wind chill. Toasty I must say.
"Lying under such a myriad of stars. The sea’s black horizon. He rose and walked out and stood barefoot in the sand and watched the pale surf appear all down the shore and roll and crash and darken again. When he went back to the fire he knelt and smoothed her hair as she slept and he said if he were God he would have made the world just so and no different."

Chicago weather is so inconsistent. It's under zero right now and this Friday it's predicted to be in the upper 30s.

Midwest weather is so inconsistent. It's like that in Cincinnati right now. Short-sleeve weather at a comfortable 40 degrees yesterday, -5 with a -20 windchill right now.

I second this, what is with Fahrenheit? Celsius is a lot more effective.

Mainly on from 12a EST to 6a EST. Please don't VM me, I rarely check them.

Then celsius should be real because that's what China uses.

Celsius is based off the temperature of water. 100 degrees Celsius, water boils. 0 degrees Celsius, water freezes.

Fahrenheit is based off the temperature of a human body. When it first came into practice, 100 degrees Fahrenheit was thought to be the temperature of a healthy human body. Modern medicine has proved that to be a little bit off, it's actually 98.6 degrees, but it still held. I forget why the zero mark was chosen exactly, but I believe it is the temperature salt water freezes, and that's the stage where cold temperatures become deadly quickly for the human body. Don't quote me on that, because sophmore year high school chemistry was a long time ago.

Kelvin is based off atoms, so zero degrees Kelvin (absolute zero) is the temperature at which atoms freeze.

So there you go: Celsius is based around fresh water, Fahrenheit around human bodies, and Kelvin around atoms. As to why the United States uses Fahrenheit (and feet, pounds, etc.) as opposed to Celsius (and other metric units like meters, grams, etc.), it's just plain stubbornness. We tried to switch over a little more than half a century ago and it didn't end well, obviously.

39 in Dallas with a high of 47. Lol what, a lot of people in Michigan would be in shorts in that weather. It's 0 F (-18 C) where I'm at right now. Wind chill is -22 F (-30 C).
