On a related note, what is the ****ing deal with competitive card games?

I'm actually reading the rest of that thread right now, and the back-and-forth on various deck builds and strategies is absolutely disheartening when you realize they actually have to pay for and/or find every card they're talking about.

Surely this is among the most asinine and least economically efficient competitive hobbies of all time.

I think big tournament winners get whole booster boxes as prizes. You could probably build a winning deck at the start of a season, rake in the spoils, and sell pretty much all of it to the tune of a couple hundred dollars' profit (if that), but it'd still be awfully pitiful returns for your time and investment. That might be the "hobby" part coming into play. Hah.

They're fun when you're little or bored, though.

Tournament winners also get their decks featured as Tournament Champion decks or something for the year and copies of them get sold in stores.

It'd even worse in games where you have to buy new cards every year or two.

I like the card games* but I don't think winning a game is worth hundreds of dollars. Especially when I can put together something decent for under 15 dollars.

I suppose, having thought about it, it isn't any more of a money sinkhole than other collecting hobbies. Thinking about as a collection you can also play a game with, it isn't that bizarre.

It's when thinking about it primarily as a game, rather than a collection, that it baffles me. Because, Jesus Christ, if you just want to play a strategy game, play something that's both better and also doesn't require you to hunt down and buy an infinite number of separate pieces.

EDIT -- Also, I heard Kreis got shipped off to gay camp.

What kind of gay camp was it? Did they cure the gay in you, or did everyone do, like, gay stuff.

Or was it, perhaps, just a massive typo, and that was actually a normal camp, except Marvin Gaye-themed?

You'd hate doing 70 on the highway if 25 is a lot to you.

Well I believe it's safe to assume it won't be for quite long, seeing as I had never so much as touched a steering wheel before last night...

Also I want to cry because I keep getting sent sad legend of korra and Harry potter stuff from my friend that make me want to curl up in a corner and die...

That reminds me. What is this Legend of Korra thing I keep hearing about lately? I'm a bit out of touch with popular things at the moment.

If you'll recall the good Legend of Avatar tv series (not the crappy movie) that aired a few years back, Legend of Korra is its follow-up series.

Please post spoilers. Whenever a whiny, entitled kid complains about that, an angel gets its wings.
