The big deal is their British and British = Cool.

There's more to it than that, but I definitely feel like that is a factor. I think Doctor Who having attractive male leads and a certain amount of silliness also helps. You don't see that many other science fictions shows that make people smirk. (the only other ones I can think of on TV are Futurama and Red Dwarf) I rather enjoy the show, and watch it on occasion, but I do think it's a little overblown amongst certain subsets of people.

I know **** all about Top Gear because I have no interest in cars.

The few british people that I've met in my life via the internet are the most narcissistic, elitist bastards.

re: attractive male leads in Doctor Who... not hugely. Well, that's my opinion, anyway. Decent-looking, but not exactly top-notch. But if certain other fandoms are a thing to go by, a lot of American females on the internet, presumably not even of the age when they should be thinking about these sorts of things, self-irrigate at British men. Even if they're robots.

Eh, the British people I've met over the Internet have been really cool, actually.

You really think 1D represents the whole of Britain? They represent the whole of Simon Cowell's wallet.

There's actually many wonderful historical things to see if you hit up London.

lmao don't listen to the above person. It's how you make of something. I know that I personally fell in love with France the two times I was there and with Belgium.

Oh, well by all means travel, just don't single out England as the highlight of your trip because you'll leave with nothing but a suitcase full of crappy cheap Union Jack tat and a purse full of nothing but pennies and pigeon crap.
Honestly, you'd have more fun in the desert, I know I would.

Hmm, I guess it's just my cynicism rising up again, because I've lived in London all my life and it's pretty much a gruesome place to live. Yeah, there are some nice places but the city overall is... well, just typical of your average modern urbanised area I guess.

well yeah if you put it that way, i'd never recommend anyone traveling here either since i have lived here all my life and find it rather boring. so i think traveling to England, or any country really would be a wonderful experience. England came to mind since my cousins were there this year and said it was a fun time. :]

Yeah, it's probably because London can sometimes be more tourist-friendly than resident-friendly. But then again there are some things which tourists can never seem to get a hold of, like the Underground.
It's really not that difficult once you've made sense of all the lines and connections but I can understand how it might be confusing to someone who has never used it before...

It's like that in any city though. It just depends on where in the city you are.

But as far as not knowing where things are/how things work.. that's just poor planning.

The desert is pretty cool, lived there for seven years.
The desert I had near me had some old ruins of a ruined colony... I forget what they were called, but they were focused on perfection or something.

I've been to England this summer and I thought it was beautiful. I didn't visit a lot of cities though, I was more out in the country.
