    However long it takes.

I don't think you understand how bad I want this.

I must say, it's been a while since I've seen pep like yours! You're hired! You start Monday, bright and early. Remember, you have to stay there until I say you can stop, or you lure in your millionth middle-aged, gullible and balding customer. I'll get with you just as soon as I get a Master's in.. something or other. Oh, but I'm going to take a year off first and explore the world; you know, see what it looks like by barhopping across Western Europe.

    I'm not afraid to die.

Not for something this important, this meaningful.

The world could do with more clueless, violent radicals such as yourself. I've always wanted an army of them. I mean, clueless radicals are a dime a dozen, but I'll be darned if you can find one who's violent, at least without the aid of too much to drink, but even then, they're sissy hipster software engineers who you probably couldn't get to aim an M16 straight. Not that I've tried. But even then, I've punched the numbers, and the margarita:drone ratio is far too high to make it anywhere near cost-feasible.

I guess what I'm getting at is: do you have 80,000-250,000 like-minded friends?

No, but I think three is a good start. And I think we could find something cheaper than margaritas. Maybe Everclear?

We could probably put an ad on Craigslist.

Have you ever met one of these guys? The chances of bringing Everclear anywhere within fifty yards of them are slim to none, and you can forget about infiltrating a gaggle of them with a bottle of it. And it's way too meticulous to make the necessary dozens of attempts on each one.

Nah, Craig still hasn't forgiven me for the Tuff Shed incident. Not an option. What is an option, though, is for you to start breeding those friends of yours. I figure if it's two girls and a guy (sex change operations will commence to adjust the ratios as necessary), and each girl has fifty babies in a ten-year period, and we start breeding them as they are able and continue this process, we can take on China in 150 years, give or take.

You know what, I think we're good?

I just need to show my lady friends how important this is and I'm sure they'll be more than willing to help me with the breeding process.
Not that they wouldn't be willing under normal circumstances. Just. You know. Honesty and stuff.

Hell, you tell random people off the street about this, and they'll be more than willing to help the cause, I'll bet.

You should get on that straightaway, though, since we don't have forever and it's only a matter of time before China will collapse in on itself naturally. And send pictures of the process, since... uh, since I need to know that the project is underway and stuff. That's all. Er, not that I doubt you. Just covering the bases. And that's what I'm all about: covering bases.

I have no idea how you guys turned that conversation about becoming a guidance counselor into an online recruitment for an international militia, but I like where it's going.

To be honest, I completely lost you guys after the first page. It's the part of me that wants to believe I'll finally be part of something greater that is hoping I can join your escapades.

Thank you. It actually does help to know that other people think the same. I plan on one day working on an international level, and part of my personal quest to do that is to learn at least five other languages fluently. I think people will feel more comfortable and be more willing to cooperate on certain matters if they know I'm willing to go out of my way to communicate and understand them.

Unfortunately, I've yet to master a second language. I studied Spanish throughout high school and I dabble in Chinese, but in no way would I consider myself fluent. I plan on studying Spanish and Chinese in university, and afterward, spend sometime in both countries.

Mastering a language is always an uphill battle if you didn't start out bilingual. Bilingual babies often take over a year longer than their monolingual counterparts to start speaking at all, and their brains are more susceptible to new forms of information. Just keep on at it. I can't remember who said it, but I believe it - 'It takes 10,000 hours practice to become a virtuoso at anything". I normally remind myself when practising piano, but I wonder if it would apply to a foreign language as well.

I misread that as "muscles" first o.O

My favourite type is classical, particularly early twentieth-century classical (Ravel, Bartok, Rachmaninov, etc). To fall in line with more usual musical tastes though, I'm a sucker for a good orchestral film score.

    What about you?

Metal I guess, particularly doom, post, and sludge.

Anyway, going to meet up with a Army Recruiter.
We're nothing more than concreteness victims trapped into our limits
Blind beliefs that lead us: "Trust in what we can perceive with senses".
Thousands minds that reflect our tendency to flatten layers of knowledge,
demonstrating that we're just wasting our time.
Look above us, sky is just a fragment and shows us how we're nothing more than ants.
Human weakness is what we hide, overwhelming celebration of our fault .
Entwined with our fears of being in your hands, we're deaf to the universe that guides us.
How can we enhance our thin perception of every small wonder hiding behind simple shapes?

Is this one of those career moments that you've been planning out for some time now? Or is involuntary/a spur of the moment idea? Good luck, especially if it's the former! What branch of the army would you prefer to be employed in?

Sort of been thinking about it for a while now, but I think I'm pretty sure I want to join now. I haven't really decided on what branch I'd try for though. Probably Infantry though, or maybe Armor.

I don't know much about bilingual babies, but that information doesn't surprise me. I do know starting monolingual gives you firm development in one language to fall back on before you try and understand another language. Immersion doesn't do much in terms of fluency without the support and understanding of a first language. In the U.S. we have something known as a Generation 1.5 learner- usually a child who never fully mastered writing and understanding his or her native language before they moved to the U.S., but can speak it well. They have a difficult time writing in English.

    The practice is definitely true.

Ah, brilliant! Hope the next decade's worth of army postings are decent ones, wherever they may be.

That's really interesting! I've never heard about the Generation 1.5 learner. I've always been interested in this sort of thing because I have a strange 'part bilingual background'. Until the age of 5 I only spoke Dutch (my mother's native tongue) but when I started school in England I totally switched to English. Now I'm fluent in all aspects of English, but only fluently understand Dutch, speak it less so, and can't write it for toffee.

Mmm, money. Hopefully you'll have time in between shifts to actually enjoy your income!
