So I just discovered that some friends of mine got into a (physical) fight a week and a half ago. Apparently the campus police got involved. So many people I know have difficulty getting along. It really puts on damper on my social life.

I think that a lot of people who use this site are basically illiterate -- at least enough to not understand the rules or the large text that is/was stapled in a signature, but literate enough to somehow get through the registration process.

well i ended up doing it anyway but i am going to be meaner this time because i am tired of people sending me stupid messages. i don't even think it's that theyre illiterate, i think theyre just super lazy. i get so many pm's all the time about stuff that's very clearly listed in the main rules, subforum rules, etc. that make it obvious that the person didn't even bother to read them and is just asking me because they're too lazy to find it. and if you are one of those people, yep, i probably did ignore you on purpose. go read.

eh, the vast majority of people post on either the first day or last day so i really dont think it would do much to shorten the window. theyd just make nearly the same amount of posts spread out over a shorter time

Fair point on that one, I guess. I don't really track the statistics on that thread. Mostly because, as long as I get a name change that I request at some point, I probably won't notice until the next time my computer invariably catches fire and it has to be replaced.

I broke up with my boyfriend of about 1 year and 10 months yesterday... April Fool's Day may have not been the best day to do it, but Easter would've been even worse, and I didn't want to keep on putting it off. I only really did it so we could both focus on bettering our own lives I suppose... and I did lose a bit of interest in him as well.

I would think I wouldn't feel as bad for me being the one to call it off, but it's not easy for either person.
