My password for this site would take 0.077228944 seconds to crack. Please don't hack me.

Good thing that passwords I use for things that actually matter would take 50+ years, though.

You mean that your account on this site isn't your most important account?! What are you, older than twelve, or something?!

Also, I kinda vaguely remember when it was very easy to get a high security password with a jumble of numbers and one letter and a max length of 6. Now you need at least 32 characters, capital and lowercase letters, one Cyrillic letter, and three mathematical symbols that you can only find via the character map. You know, I think that, after a point, it's not going to help; someone who's guessing by hand will get bored just as fast, and a machine/program will guess it just as easily. The only real difference is if someone is looking over your shoulder very obviously and writing down what you write. Which, does anyone even do that?

    no, and what is this?

Speaking of all that stuff you said, though, I remember an xkcd strip that pointed out that a password like one you described would be hard to remember, but not that difficult for a computer to guess, while stringing together four easy-to-remember words would be easy for a person to remember, but hard for a computer to guess. IT'S ALL BACKWARDS, MAN.

I too remember this one. The bets pass words aren't ones like pas3w0r9d, but ones that are long, perhaps a whole sentence, because computers have to cycle all these characters odd characters, but more characters adds to the power of the combinations, so if you have a silly amount if things, it could work. Your password should be "Magic said this is a good idea so I made my password really long and this means computers will hate me."

My college used a compulsory password system where you have to change your password every 24 days to something you have never used as a password. In fear of forgetting what my password was, I ended up cycling through things like aaabbbccc and 1234567 as passwords. It's a great security measure and I'm sure everyone else there did exactly the same thing as me

whenver places want me to do that I just add 1, then change it to 2, then 3 etc, to my standard password for things I semi care about.

From what I was taught, using sentences are usually the most secure types of passwords. Especially if they contain Upper/lower case, numbers and symbols.

Before that Millsberry site closed down, my password was: "I walk my dog @ 8 every night."

According to that site, it would take 21 quattuordecillion years for a pc to crack that.

It sounds like I must be doing my new non-secure passwords right then. I would have figured that sentences are easy to crack.
