Well, you have two ways of choosing your "base" Pokémon. Either pick one of your favourites (depending on who it is, you may be able to build the team around it) or pick someone that suits your playing style. Then you go from there.

For example my favourite Pokémon is Typhlosion. Its tier is RU, so I tried to make it shine. I use Sun and Choice Specs to power up its Eruption so much that I've seen it OHKO frail Water and Dragon-types. In Doubles he's a beast as it often OHKO both opponents even in OU. Then I built the team in order to provide Typhlosion with everything he needs to sweep. Tailwind, Helping Hand, Rock/Ground resistances and so on.

It also fits my playing style which is teamwork, that is, using the team to power up my star Pokémon. Every hyper strong Eruption Typhlosion fires cannot be fired if the team doesn't support him.

You don't need to stick to NU. Now that you picked Serperior you should try your best to make Serperior the best it can be, even in OU. Because I'm not sure you can find the right team mates in NU. In OU you can use everyone you want barring Ubers, so start working from there. Every Pokémon has something they're good at. Explore that strength and show everyone else that Serperior should be taken into account.

I'm enjoying all the competitive talk. I'm inspired to do an NU team. I'll check Smogon for a base Pokemon. Maybe I'll use Zangoose..or my third favorite Poke which is Luxray. Hmm...I've been reading Smogon's web-zine "The Smog" and there is actually a lot of good competitive tips. I just read about Scizor.

Hiya, again wow me=inactivity! Anyone, VEVOZ, the league will be posted momentarily. And we are not starting the new thread until december. Please, everyone, stop complaining about that. It takes a long time and Shade and I are working on it. It'll get done! Oh and I like the idea of an E4 in our league. I say once we get all 8 gyms leader, the first four people to beat all of us gets to be a member of the E4. How does that sound??? Oh and justin, the dark ages was...well, let me start from the beginning. In like January we had like thirty people in this clan and we were burning through like seven pages a day then within a week, everyone just quit, and Ninja went silent like he is now. From Febuary until the end of April, Me, Shade, Norns, Snivy, and Klink kept the clan alive so the mods wouldn't close us. That's why the five of us are called "The Five" and that age was "The Dark Age"

I like your idea there. The first four to beat all eight gyms gets a spot in the E4 that will make it more official in my opinion. Also you and shade take your time, I will wait patiently for the new thread and I really hope 2.0 works out better and we can form a good war team.

Also I know I have asked thsi before, but will the war and league be over wi-fi? If so I will try to get a team for both ready in the B/W II era and since they changed the nature system with the everstone, I can make a team much quicker. Lastly if the rock gym is still open when I get a team ready I like to apply for it, but if not, then I will try my luck against the legaue to get a spot in the E4

I like to apply to the Rock Gym, but only if it can be done over Wi-Fi. Also would I be allowed to use a least one pokemon that isn't a rock type? I mean it will be related to a rock type like Steelix? Even though he is a steel/ground type? Also you say no ubers, but can legends be used who aren't ubers? Last two questions, if someone cheated in the gym, how would you go about reporting and to whom? Last one, one a gym leader chosses his or her team, did we have to stick with that team for the rest of job or can we make other pokes to change up our teams?

I also prefer battling over Wi-Fi in leagues or wars since I find PO no fun at all lol

@Pokemon Beast....never use Altaria...it blows. I was originally going to use it on my gym team...but it sucked so I replaced it with Skarmory...I think...I haven't done PO in forever...meh.

I think I never really tried Altaria tbh. But in lower tiers I have the idea that it can be a quite powerful DDancer.

Eh, I sometimes use it in in-game teams. And I decided on Drifblim. Spam calm mind until low health, then rest but wake up right away from Chesto Berry then either Baton Pass it, or sweep. So what gyms are open?

I tried it with DD but it was too frail and it got KO'ed before I could fully power it up.
