KingOfUbers (Kyogre) @ Leftovers
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 Spe
- Calm Mind
- Ice Beam
This set was one I usually overlooked, because Substitute looked to be detrimental for this set. But it isn't. Not many people use this, so it's somewhat unique. Calm Mind boosts Kyogre's powerful Special Attack and fantastic Special Defense through the roof, boosting it's attack damage and weakening Special moves aimed at it. This set can, at +1, avoid the 2HKO from any Palkia bar the Life Orb/Choice Specs set. Substitute blocks Status, and leaves Blissey and Chansey as set up bait for Kyogre, as it can set up 101 HP Subs. Surf is boosted by Rain, and is STAB, and deals a bit more damage than Scald does. Ice Beam nails Dragons, who are more commonly seen in the metagame than Manaphy and Arceus Water are. This set is also somewhat more reliant on Ferrothorn to take Dragon moves and have good synergy.
WallDatAss (Ferrothorn) @ Leftovers
EVs: 252 HP / 48 Atk / 208 SpD
- Spikes / Stealth Rock
- Leech Seed
- Power Whip
- Thunder Wave
Ferrothorn is required now as a way to tank Dragon, Electric and Grass assaults on Kyogre and the rest of the team. It's also my hazard setter and somewhat of a special wall. I can't decide between Spikes and Stealth Rock- Spikes takes 3 turns and deals more damage than Rocks does with 3 layers. But Stealth Rock hits everything in the metagame bar Magic Guard users. Leech Seed is a reliable way to recover health, and is useful if it's stuck on a Pokémon and my team is setting up to sweep. Power Whip is STAB, and deals more consistent damage than Gyro Ball. Thunder Wave paralyses threats such as Palkia and Rayquaza, making it easier for my team to sweep.
Oblivion (Giratina- O) @ Griseous Orb
EVs: 164 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Def / 4 SpD / 84 Spe
- Dragon Tail
- Shadow Sneak / Will 'O Wisp
Giratina- O is my spinblocker, and benefits from entry hazards, which Ferrothorn provides. Between Kyogre, Ferrothorn and Giratina, nearly every type is resisted, and all 3 are fantastic bulky Pokémon. Substitute protects Giratina from status, and lets it set up on Forretress and Ferrothorn. Dragon Tail is STAB, and 0HKOes Palkia after Stealth Rock! Earthquake breaks Excadrill and Dialga, 2 pretty threatening Pokémon. Shadow Sneak beats Mewtwo, who is somewhat of a threat to the team so far, whilst Will 'O Wisp cripples Physical attackers like Groudon.
AquaAssassin (Kabutops) @ Lum Berry
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
- Stone Edge
- Low Kick
- Aqua Jet
Kabutops is my late game cleaner, once Giratina, Kyogre and Ferrothorn (as well as my other 2 members (possibly) have weakened the opponents team. Waterfall is boosted by Rain, is STAB and comes off of a decent 115 base Attack stat. Stone Edge is the other STAB, and checks the majority of Pokémon who resist Water. Low Kick is for Ferrothorn, Dialga as well as the possible TTar. Aqua Jet nails Terrakion, who outspeeds even in Rain. Lum Berry is used over Life Orb because Kabutops is statused quite often, and so provides a free attack to land.
Whirlwind (Tornadus- T) @ Life Orb
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
- Grass Knot
- U- Turn
Tornadus Therian is the main reason why I wanted to make a Rain team, and so it fits my team (although now I have a somewhat large Electric weakness). It also handles some of the Fighting types in the tier with it's high Speed and powerful STAB Hurricane. If the damage calculator is right, Superpower 0HKOes Banded TTar with Superpower, 2HKOes Standard Support Groudon (guaranteed 0HKO with 3 layers of Spikes) and has a 62.5% chance to 0HKO standard Hippowdon with Grass Knot (guaranteed with 3 layers of Spikes). This Pokémon can win me the weather war (hopefully).
Paradox (Deoxys- S) @ Leftovers
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 Spe
- Stealth Rock
- Thunder Wave / Magic Coat
This is a really random set I made for Deoxys S, who I intend to be my anti lead, and made so the opponent cannot get any entry hazards on my team. My team isn't hazard weak, but it helps to have none on my side. Never not used a spinner/Magic Bounce user before. Should be fun! Stealth Rock is here to cripple Ho Oh, and just everything else in between. Taunt from the fastest Pokémon in the tier will stop most set up attempts as well as entry hazards. Thunder Wave helps my team set up and deal damage, and Memento is there if Deoxys is at such a low health that I can just take myself out, bring in a Pokémon and set up. Magic Coat could be used against Prankster users (I think?).
